Only a few people knew the true cause of Earth's destruction, and those people likely died with the knowledge of how to revert the grav drive. If the previous blueprints are still around, others wouldn't think to go back since to onlookers they're just outdated. It would still mean that further improvements to the grav drive could potentially be disastrous for other planets in the far future. It's not as grave a danger however, since humanity is now a multi-planetary species.
Further, a weapon that takes 50+ years to ruin a planet (and who knows how long to actually create the situation that leads to ruination) isn't very useful, it can't even be used as a deterrent. Orbital bombardment would still be king in terms of weapons to annihilate a planet. At best, a galactic empire in the future could implement it as a means to salt the earth of an enemy planet they already conquered.

The plot is hackneyed and insipid. You have to follow obvious red herrings for getting your brain worm fixed even when you know it's not going to work. The game prompts you to make a schizo waifu, then has her revealed to be an illusion by a squid man who keeps trying to boss you around. For no reason the game acts like it's a hard choice to commit to destroying him as brutally and quickly as possible, especially when he outright refuses any strategy for solving his own problem that doesn't put him in charge. All the characters suck. All of them, there isn't a single person in the whole game who doesn't communicate like someone from palo alto trying to stay in character at a renaissance fair. Your whole party are also a bunch of prostitutes with no standards. The game also gets exponentially more gay as you progress through it. The alledged flexibility of the quests are a lie. Almost all them are written with a single intended path, and your option is to follow it or to abruptly end the quest. At most you'll get a chance to pick between 2 people or groups of people in a conflict. This is rarely a hard choice to make. The game's idea of moral flexibility is a joke. The writers seem to think "evil" is when someone causes suffering and death randomly and for no reason.
And all of this is why the game is a pretty accurate representation of 5E games, and why it sold so well. This lazy, boring garbage is what people want.

because the gameplay is shit. I played for like five hours and saw a boss teleport out of existence and managed to softlock myself via a terrain bug. I still don't know how stealth works and haven't found anyone who is able to explain it. Plus it allows and encourages continual savescumming, one of the main problems with classic games like BG1 and they've made it worse.

I disagree completely because it utterly fails at one of the most crucial things in the genre, dialogue and actual party dynamics. The game constantly forcing a single character to make every choice while the rest of the party just stands there, not even able to chime in, is lazy game design and the complete opposite of what it should be. It's bad enough in singleplayer, but it falls apart entirely in multiplayer. Even something like Solasta does it way better.

Throw barb is still viable after the debuff. Dip into Savage Attacker to maxmimize damage and throw 2 getas inti strength to get 20. Get the hag hair and drow potion to maxmize strength.

RTWP is flawed but it's still a great attempt at making D&D combat as smooth as possible. Turn-based misses the point entirely. D&D is turn-based because it's the only way to have immersive and complex combat irl, the advantage of video games is that you can do the same thing without needing to wait for the DM to think and roll dice and shit.

Everything takes forever in this game and the menus are complete shit. They should have been less faithful to 5e to make the system more conducive to auto battling. There should have been a long rest button that didnt require camping and a dialogue rewind button like most VN’s have so that you dont have to save reload reload reload to see the outcomes of the options. Dice rolling for everything was a massive mistake but even that could have been fixed by having the dice roll he hidden on failure and success. Even better if they removed [skill] box on dialogue options but really this is all a bandaid for the stupid dice rolling in dialogue problem they created.

My only major complaint is that I wish the game let you swap who was talking. A religion check comes up and instead of being able to ask Shadowheart whose right there, listening to the conversation and she can't chime in on some useful information? Or way more annoying, there are bosses who engage in dialogue at a health thresh hold and they typically end up talking to whoever is clearest. Suddenly needing to pass 2 Persuasion checks as fricking Laezel or Karlach doesn't work game. My 20 Charisma Sorceror is 10 feet away, let him tag in.
I wish the game was set up so that the party as a whole was more presented as the protagonist, not the guy you yourself made in particular. If picking an Origin didn't neuter the character into a mute self insert, I'd have probably actually picked one for once.
Ya, ideally there'd even be different dialogues, and outcomes to those dialogues, based on whether the person making a particular skill/ability check is the primary speaker or not. We'd be reaching insane levels of complexity though.

I'm currently playing a Tempest Cleric.
I'm using:
-Spellsparkler: Gives lightning charges when spells hit.
-Watersparker boots: Electrocutes water I stand on and gives more lightning charges while I stand on electrocuted water.
-Sparkswall ring: Makes me immune to the electrocute status so I don't hurt myself by standing in water.
Tempest clerics knock back enemies when they deal lightning or thunder damage so I cast Create Water, stand in the center of the electrocuted water, spam Call Lightning at enemies safely from the center and any enemies that try to run up to me get knocked backwards.
Shit's cheesy and fun.
Forgot to mention wet enemies take double lightning damage and Tempest clerics can use their channel divinity charges to maximize lightning damage twice por short rest so I can just nuke the frick out of people.

I'm enjoying myself playing a b***hy Drow Thief with no loads except for the rare obvious party wipe. I saw the big tiddy goblin in the jail so I broke her out after lying to her. However I was moronic so I never scouted out any better exit paths, instead we just barge straight through the camp and got stopped every couple of steps. Luckily my deception boosts were that high that I somehow passed every single check.
I also stole and pick pocketed some apparent quest items from people, wondering if I can figure out what their purpose is.
10/10 having a great time and already inspired to make several different new characters on followup playthroughs

I constantly come across situations, items or decisions where I think "yeah I'll do that differently on another playthrough". But my Drow thief is a massive b***h and a racist to Tieflings and a backstabber that doesn't take shit.
I perma killed one of my party-members and I shrugged it off because he shouldn't have been a moron. I then overwrite my save to lock me out of save-scumming. Haven't reloaded for anything besides a sudden encounter that immediately wipes out the entire party. Even then I try to load quickly instead of going through the entire battle twice and knowing how it unfolds.

I do like the game, but the more I play it, the more irritated I get with aspects of it.

>Personal opinion but the boss fights really aren't that good, most of the time they're either a janky gimmick that can just not function (Grym arbitrarily stepping past the forge hammer when you try to position him) or a complete clusterfrick dps check (Balthazar in the Shadowfell, where if you don't bumrush him down in the first two turns he just cloudkills you to death alongside his 40 skeleton bros)
There's more small irritations but these are the major flaws. I have no idea why so many people are calling this game flawless, it really isn't.

hi fi rush, lies of p, total Warhammer 3, AC6, revisits to monster hunter world AND rise (that's right I enjoyed both) and Mario wonder. Also loved pikmin 4 and remnant 2 but didnt play them for entire days at a time like the others. I haven't played bg3 yet but its on my list and I will definitely get to it in 2024 and put many full days in on it since I played dos2 and therefore know what bg3 will be like.

It still is about going around a pretty basic map, clearing out npcs by dealing damage to them until their hp drops to zero, talking to npcs to do a quest for them involving going to a place and clearing out of enemies while trying to cope with inventory limitations.

Just beat it. Very good gameplay. Act 1 is a gem. Act 2 is solid. Cracks were obviously forming in Act 3 but it still managed to be fun. The epilogue also added a lot to the ending; glad I waited to play it until after it released. Will probably go wizard next playthrough .
Waiting for the definitive edition of BG3 is actually what's making me want to continue living. After that who knows though. Game's good.
