genuinely crazy someone can say this with a straight face whilst being the owner of the banjo kazooie franchise

No one at Microsoft wanted to do Banjo before. The series creator said he'd rather work on Viva Pinata 3 first (Which, to be fair, Based). Toys For Bob said they really want to do Banjo and they are now owned by MS. So there's now a chance.

Speaking of Toys for Bob, who owns Star Control now?

Stardock owns the trademark but the original devs own their concepts, designs i.e. the SOVL
They're supposedly still part of ToysForBob but The Ur-Quan Masters 2 is currently being developed by them under Pistol Shrimp Games, so I'd assume M$ currently doesn't have its paws on it.

    >Reviving anything when he just said if Gamepass doesn't bring in enough people by 2027 Xbox as a brand will be officially killed off
They're not developing any "forgotten game" in just 3 years considering they STILL refuse to make games at all.
What the frick is he going to bring back when Xbox has been in total freefall for a decade and the few games they did put out were catastrophic flops? Where the frick would the millions of buyers for those forgotten games even be in the first place? Fricking worthless PR talk from some clueless suit and you "people" basedface over it.

If >card game doesn't immediately turn you off they are pretty fun. Real time combat where cards can be single attacks, summons that follow you around, cards that let you transform into a monster for traversal options (super jump, flying over pits etc.) + attack etc, can combo cards together for big flashy summon attack etc. Levels are neat deck building puzzles too as need to balance things different elemental weaknesses, having the traversal powers, have mix of strong single use cards with weaker but reusable ones etc. I like these games a lot + they emulate well.

They want to own the IPs. They give zero shits about anything else.
Making video games is expensive and time consuming and risky and since you need a small island nation of people to do it you're going to run into a bunch of social problems....

But you know what's easy? Selling the rights to an IP.

They're gearing up for the flood of video game movies and TV.
The latest Mario movie was the video game industry's "Iron Man". They're now frothing at the mouth to pump out more.

The problem with Phill is that he is too nice, unironically. He literally cannot manage properly the studios.
Games will have no deadline and fall into dev-hell for a lack of pressure and direction. This is what happened to most Xbox games in the last few years.

This is true based on all reports, Microsoft is hands off to a fault. The only time they seemed to have stepped in for what could be years was the delaying and further QA testing of starfield. RARE has been pretty independent since they stopped doing Kinect shit. There’s no shot games like Pentiment by Obsidian or Hi-Fi Rush was greenlit by MS higher ups. It’s why the quality and tone of their first parties vary so much and lack clear identity compared to Sony movie games, and Nintendos fun for all ages look

To be fair Rare doesn't have the talent to do a new entry in any of these franchises but their entire catalog has been rotting for a decade at minimum. They dropped Rare Replay to remind everyone that they used to be rockstars but they also refuse to port it to PC or Switch where it would actually do gangbusters.

Battle toads would be cool as an action platformer. Conker as a puzzle platformer with south park style writing. Crash / Spyro themed sports games and party games. Guitar hero obviously. More Tony Hawk games. make an Arbiter game, or reboot and dig into the zombie space angle halo used to have. A turn based rpg no gimmicks 30 hours in length using warcraft lore. Theres a lot they could do.
