Spacetime peaked here and nobody remembers how good it was because the Snoy was too easily satisfied.

My Switch lasts a few hours now and I know it lasted longer last year
Do you frequently drain it dry?
Lith-ion batteries don't like that. Most lith-ion care guides recommend to try keep it above 20%. Even better if 50%. Once in a while is okay, but it still adds up. But repeatedly dumping the full charge will nuke the batt's capacity and lifespan.
You can google lithium iron care if you're curious. One of the better places to learn about batteries in particular is a site called Battery University
>try to play your GBA for longer than 12 hrs
>it’s now night and you can’t fricking see
pic-rel was the first to literally save gaming
pic-rel for me
i had that, and this, in Glacier because i have taste
when the light stopped working, i emailed them and they told me to mail it in and they sent a new one with some rigid Glacier cartridge sleeves
>Pelican
Absolute based kings of old accessories, I had one of these as a kid and it destroyed my concept of hard work
Kills your battery even faster which nullifies OP’s point
I had a square light that snapped over the back of my gameboy color. It had a big magnifier-window that made the screen look gigantic and a separate light that ran on two triple-As. Shit was cash, remember playing it on the drive home from going to disney world.
>3 hours 45 minutes of pure, exhilarting, unrelenting sokino
>29 hours 32 minutes of nintenslop
its not even a question
Did the GBA really have 35 hours of battery life?
What about the DS and 3DS?
The original GBA did - it lasted forever because it wasn't backlit.
The GBA SP had like 1/3 the life.
i remember it being closer to 17 if you were too poor and stupid to have a rechargeable battery. it wasn't a WonderSwan black and white which could go 40 on one AA cell
It doesn't have a backlight. The battery life was significantly less if you were using one.
I very distinctly remember trying to beat a hard late game chapter in Fire Emblem GBA after my bedtime using my wormlight and then panicking when my GBA Battery was low, I think one of my units died and I had to go to bed since there wasnt enough time to restart.
>What about the DS and 3DS?
OG DS had around 10 hours and Lite had 15-19 hours depending on brightness.
(New) 3DS/2DS had 3 to 7 hours.
>Handhelds have less than 10% the battery life they had two decades
>Seemingly no one notices or cares about this because "muh graphics"
Technology has literally regressed in every industry. Even smartphones last less time across the board. BY DESIGN.
>wtf why is my 4k oled phone that is more powerful than a 10 year old desktop only lasting 14 hours a day of moderate usage
>i cant have sex
>the west has fallen, society has collapsed
>Moderate usage
Most smartphones barely last longer than 3 hours if you have them turned on and are actually doing things with them besides listening to music.
do indians really think their $50 chinese androids are representative of modern smart phone capabilities?
my phone's 5,000 mAh battery usually lasts an entire outing. it's rare i need to use the power bank i always have in my purse
"An entire outing" is not a unit of measurement.
Stop buying chink shit José
i don't think you fully appreciate how fricking dumb this post made you appear, even as an anonymous poster
are you poor?
my current phone runs much longer than the previous, which was exceptionally shitty in that regard
I just looked up the battery life.
They all have about the same. What changed was the backlit screen.
GBA did not have a backlit screen and op says it lasted 35 hours.
DS lasted 19 hours with low light and 5 with high brightness
So basically nothing has changed. If the GBA had a backlit screen it would probably only last 5 hours or 7.
Planned obsolescence, my dude. If your hardware lasts forever, how will you be forced to buy the newest hardware?
OG Switch only last 2.5 hours for most games
I'd rather play a PSP for 4 hours where I can actually see the screen while playing PS2 level titles or emulating PS1 and older home consoles than play mostly shovelware for 30 hours on a screen you need to find the perfect angle to see a glimpse of what you're doing.
Why should technology regress just because you can't buy a weightless backlight?
Technology didn't regress, battery on Nintendo handhelds always lasted long because they're garbage hardware that has no reason to need battery usage in the first place. All of those front light add-ons for GBC and GBA were garbage, the screen was still hard to see, but now there was a huge white ball of light in front of it, effort and more effort just to see what you're playing defeats the whole purpose of a handheld, the convenience and comfort, PSP came out in 2004 giving us pretty much PS2 hardware while that was still current gen, while Nintendo was giving us a portable SNES at the exact same time, and all Nintendo homosexuals talk about is that you can play your shovelware for 100 hours so it's better than playing real video games for 10, morons.
An actually decent video game, that came out on the Vita, looking just like a PS3 title, but on a handheld, with interesting mechanics, it's not perfect, but the character design and writing was appealing and they left their mark.
I don't own any Nintendo consoles.
The only thing anyone cares about with Gravity Rush is the main character. The actual game could not be more boring.
Even the first GBA SP had a piece of shit backlight that was so shitty they released an updated superior model.
Looks badly modded, screen is tilted
It's not a mod, those are both official GBA SP, its the ags 001 original model and the ags 001 updated backlight model which is rarer and more expensive, just google it theres tons of examples showing how awful it is
ags 101 updated model*
It was a frontlight, FYI
>PSP came out in 2004 giving us pretty much PS2 hardware
The PSP was barely a step up from the PS1.
>Nintendo was giving us a portable SNES at the exact same time
The DS came out the same year you pillock.
Several wii games were ported to psp
And yet the games released for it were barely above PS1 tier.
I've never been on /vr/ and since I've owned every Sony and Nintendo handheld since the GBC I've no stake in this argument. You're a disengenuous homosexual so frick off.
Ridiculous, some of the PSP's best games were GTA LC / VC Stories and MHF, pretty much expansion packs to PS2 games that looked and played just as good if not better.
>played
Debatable
>looked
lolno. Find me anything as graphically impressive as say, RE4 or SH3, on PSP and I'd be inclined to reconsider.
Monster Hunter and Shattered Memories
>Monster Hunter
I love FU and even I'm not that deluded.
>Shattered Memories
Doesn't even have half the graphical complexities that SH3 had, the snow alone is basic as frick.
Sqarenix did amazing shit on both consoles, kingdom hearts, crisis core and dissidia
Again, those look impressive for the PSP considering but they don't have the same graphical prowess as the PS2's full potential as demonstrated by the likes of RE4 and SH3. The latter of which remained an emulation nightmare for well over a decade because of the shit specific to the hardware.
>And yet the games released for it were barely above PS1 tier.
You're fricking deluded, show me peace walker, monster hunter, shattered memories, burnout on the ps1
I said it's an improvement on PS1, they're all shit by PS2 standards and you fricking well know it.
>The PSP was barely a step up from the PS1.
Are you that fricking moron that got BTFO on /vr/ this weekend spouting that dumb shit? Man, youre a homosexual
i skipped PSP because i didn't want spinning shit in a handheld, or moving parts in the game media
the PSP owners i knew lived in squalor
What a dumbass, there was piracy since day 1 and almost the entire life of the console
Yeah pirating on a 256 mb memory stick was great...
32GB with 2 microSD, fricking poorgay
Didn't exist at launch, zoomer. Good job outing yourself though.
First one I got was 4gb in like 2006, capacity exploded so fast I end up with 32gb on mine, never went back
Most people switched to digital pretty quickly in the PSP's life, whether though the store or piracy which was really easy and good. Late in the PSP's life I bought dozens of PSP Games on UMD from retail on clearance for like $5 a pop, they just didn't move units.
>gravity rush image
Speaking of shovelware.
just because he's being moronic doesn't mean you have to stoop to his level
>No backlighting
What was the SP's battery life, did it make any substantial difference? Also playing stuff like CotM without backlighting was horrific.
It's disingenuous to compare a rechargeable battery to a system that needed new batteries or to externally recharge them (in which case they won't last as long).
Now, a more apt comparison would be the gba sp with the psp. According to wikipedia the sp's battery lasts about 10 hours, which is still 3 times more than the psp, but not 10 times as the op suggests.
And the battery industry hasn't stagnated, but every time there is a more lasting battery, engineers take that extra power they can squeeze out of them and we end up the same or worse, so unless we collectively stop caring so much about graphics, things are going to be the same.
I'm fairly confident my old DS lite's battery lasts longer than my Switch's though I suppose that shouldn't be all that surprising.
even if people only wanted 2D games, no one is going to code bespoke game engines in assembly just so your toy's battery lasts longer. it often takes more processing to do the same things now
Whatever happened to graphite batteries I thought that was the future
>WonderSwan Color: 20 hours
>On one AA
Get fricked
and not a single game except riviera
One of my distinct formative memories if the GBC, was how my first pair of batteries seemed to last fricking forever. In my childhood brain, it felt like weeks or months. Fricking loved that. Something that contributed to that must have been that I only had Pokemon, which I'd need to take breaks from. Looking back - I really wish I asked my parents for some action games like Kirby's Dreamland 2, Links Awakening or one of the GB Megaman games.
PSP got around 14 hours with the official 2200mAh battery on digital games.
UMDs cut battery life to 1/4th of digital.
>had a game gear
>Batteries last minutes it feels like
>Parents did long car trips all the time so we got a car powering plug-in for it
Older handhelds were kind of weird but special. I think it's something today's market misses out on.
PSP will always be based to me because it was an easy and portable way to look at porn. Nothing else mattered.
The day I realized I could look at Naruto hentai using my PSP on my neighbors open wifi changed my life.
typical porn addicted snoys LOL
And now the steam dick only gets 2 hours even with games released 3 years ago. It's a mess.
I told my mom she didnt need to spend the extra money on the sp model. Biggest mistake of my life.
I exclusively ran my gbc with one dead battery and one battery stolen from the tv remote
