The other reason I don't have a problem with them is like you just said: not interested? Don't waste time with them. They are completely optional and don't affect the game. I play lots of games with battle passes and I have never purchased one or completed one. I literally don't care since i grew up never modifying the way my avatars looked anyways. I just enjoy the games.

What even is a Battle Pass? I don't play shit like Fortnite. The only reason I'm asking is because I was considering getting Diablo 4, but I don't want any homosexual microtransaction shit involved.
There's a track with various levels, often 50 or more. You get points either by playing the game or completing specific challenges that increase your battlepass level. Usually there is also a free version of the battlepass with less rewards and a paid version for $10-$20 with the full rewards. Some versions also refund most or all of the cost if you complete the whole pass.
Okay, so it's optional. For some reason I was thinking it was something you had to pay for to play online, or just play the game. It honestly wouldn't surpise me if companies made you buy the game and a monthly paid subscription to play the game.

When games were still physical devs only made about 25% profit off of the game, so like 20 dollars. With digital games they're easily making 60-70% profit off of each copy, if not more. And not only that since it's all mostly preorders they're instantly make twice what they used to off of the same amount of games sold, this looks really good to investors, but what doesn't look good is the lack of earnings after launch. That's where microtransactions come in. With microtransactinos and digital sales, devs can sell 30% of what they used to and still fool investors into thinking they're a growing company

When games were still physical devs only made about 25% profit off of the game, so like 20 dollars. With digital games they're easily making 60-70% profit off of each copy, if not more. And not only that since it's all mostly preorders they're instantly make twice what they used to off of the same amount of games sold, this looks really good to investors, but what doesn't look good is the lack of earnings after launch. That's where microtransactions come in. With microtransactinos and digital sales, devs can sell 30% of what they used to and still fool investors into thinking they're a growing company

It's been completely pigeonholed that on release you could buy the entire run of map packs before they released at like 1800 MS points instead of paying for each one.
