Yeah there were tenfold more "only in battlefield" moments. Like you'd experience crazy shit you won't get in any other game every few games that's how fun it was. My biggest regret was falling for the anti-Hardline shilling, even though I played it years past release it was still fricking amazing.

Last time I played this game I had gotten max level on console and finally snapped when I was told artillery trucks are hard to use and don't need nerfing. This same manchild that was mad at me was in his spawn and farming kills for said artillery truck. I will never touch this trash again nor interact with the morons knights it has to defend it.

I actually went on a little spree of playing BF1 for a while a few months ago. It's fun, but I think it suffers from just being a little too simple and thus is basically just the same plays every map. I do have fun with it, but generally I jump in and play a match, and if I'm on a team that's getting rolled I just close the game.
The biggest issue is there's literally whole clans of people who just cheat in public servers, and I can't fricking figure out why any human being would waste time going 100-0 with aimbot in a fricking public lobby of a 7 year old video game.
I had a lot of fun playing this with some buds back when it came out. There was definitely a bunch of me drunkenly complaining about the ubiquity of automatic, semi auto small arms and optics in a time setting that I didn't think they were appropriate. That would end pretty much around the time I'd see a dude on a horse fully on fire looking like a King Diamond album cover.
Isn't this the problem with most BF games after a while? BF Hardline was unironically one of my my favorites due to the cops/robbers theme and booting that up a few months ago was a disaster for pretty much the same reason.

I mean, yes, it's kind of the inherent endpoint of most military shooters. People find the best guns, the best paths through every map, and the best snipe spots and then that's that.
I still enjoy getting on, grabbing a 100-round machine gun, and picking off dudes from as far away as possible. I know that's what snipers are for, but I don't like bolt action.
I meant the community portion. All games will reach a point where the only people still playing are the sweathogs or cheaters or something I just feel it's amplified with BF games because of the server aspect. With the older games you can't just casually join a server without running into cheaters or weird server rules. I do agree on the gameplay bits though, people complain about playing with little Timmy but nobody wants a lobby full of hardcore players either for a casual experience.
Play it on console if you want to avoid cheaters.

I used to play it for a while until the Turning Tides DLC came out.
I had a lot of gripes with the game and went back to previous BF to fill the void.
Suppression, gas/incendiary grenades, the movement, the new Conquest system, the vehicles, and the lack of fun sandbox shenanigans made me quit the game.

Nah. It's a running simulator. Nice graphics. Great sound. All that doesn't matter after a few hours when you realize how spread out the maps are. Also this game started the trend of fricking with classes and eventually breaking them down altogether.
