why did they even call them LMGs in BFV?

they certainly don't actually hit any harder
Only a few of them shoot significantly faster
with the ROF specialization all of them except the M1919A6 shoot faster than the fastest firing LMG (BAR M1918A2)
still doesn't make them that useful except to annoy people on Operation Underground because of the delay between the bipod being deployed and being able to ADS
The MMG designation only refers to the weight of the weapon, not caliber.
Pretty sure the BAR and the M1919 fire the same caliber but the BAR is an LMG because you can carry it around more easily than a M1919.
There's HMGs in the game too but they're all stationary or mounted to vehicles.
Battlefield V was the last one I played. The rest are shit are after that.

there is no "cross play between origin and steam"
if you buy an EA game through steam, you still have to have origin open to play it, because it redirects you to origin. i am not a fan of all these companies wanting to keep their failed launchers alive (uplay, origin, epic games launcher, etc.)
it seemed like they were on verge of going away and then MS comes along with their gamepass which is the first thing to actually pose a good enough incentive to be an ongoing competitor to steam
and now you have shit like EA baking itself into gamepass
i honestly think microsoft is the only company who hasnt put up an embarrassing effort in an attempt to make a competitor to steam. microsoft did one thing very well that the other companies didnt - they didnt pull this moronic "exclusive to my company's launcher!" for their games. this prevented the usual huge wave of backlash, which allowed a lot of people to actually consider what they had to offer.

Isn’t it all on origin though? So it should be more than that 4K on steam. Maybe the problem is just that you’re not playing the right battlefield. 2042 is pretty fun and I still play it but 5 is leagues better in many ways. Why anybody still plays bf1, arguably the worst game in the series, is beyond me.
use www.battlefield.agency for accurate playercounts (they have bots that scour the server list player counts and aggregate them for the most accurate number of players - no1 idling in menu is counted, both steam and origin copies are counted).

i think the idea is great, but combat has been royally fricked in every game after fall of the samurai. i'd love to see a 30 years war game with the same kind of map, and shogun 2's combat. sadly i know it would just become crossbow bolts retextured to look like musket shots (and with almost the same exact firing arcs), and the shitty combat where most units are completely irrelevant. what soihammer players dont understand is that cheap shitty units could be relevant when fielded correctly instead of just being some waste of resources that the enemy chews through at a 10:1 kill death ratio while simultaneously having damn near no contribution to battles

This. I've been using server browser all the time. Accidentally searched quick match which was awful. I play US servers mostly but I'll occasionally join Euros and the connection ain't too bad
Late reply but FYI use server browser. The matchmaking is fricked. It always puts you in lobbies with 300 ping or lobbies that are empty. These are just some I favourited for quick games but there's a shitload of full servers. BF1 is still very popular. And for good reason. It's fun as frick.

What's truly bad about the specialist is how both teams have access to the same motherfrickers. Why didn't they go for having a "Russian" counterparts is beyond me.

Even CoD lately has had faction specific characters so it was pretty embarrassing they didn't do it. I imagine it'd been to challenging to think of 10 brand new characters that also have mirrored abilities. Oh and one more detail I forgot about the 1922 is that it strangely has the unique quirk (probably a bug) where its short reload occurs after emptying the entire belt and the long reload occurs when you try to reload before finishing the belt
basically 1922 encourages SUPPRESSING FIRE by rewarding using your entire fricking belt before reloading
m1922 takes forever to reload i hate it, especially since empty reload is faster

reloading an MMG should be a rare thing that you only do once every 30 or so seconds tops
also the 1922 has the best iron sights of all MMGs

After playing BF5 for quite a bit I can see why it's inferior to BF1. It panders too much to the sweaty competitive types at the expense of the casual players that make up the majority of the playerbase, Behemoths and doritos are part of the reason BF1 is fun for casual players. Also

Why do gays like BF1? The gunplay is shit and the map design is cod levels of atrocious with then being 3 lanish and the desert maps usually leads to snipers camping because they're all open with like 2 houses.
Not to mention it's a ww1 game and bolt action rifles are exclusively locked to recon and even if you use a scopeless rifle they have this gay mechanic to prevent you from noscoping people where snipers have a damage ramp up then drop off except it's also on the unscoped bolt action rifles so they're entirely useless.
After all the updates BFV is unironically the best battlefield game to be released after BF4.

How is the portal thing on 2042? Since it shouldn't have a lot of the bad things, is it as bad as the regular modes?

I am sick and tired of being so good (with tanks) at bf5. I can rack up 20-30 kills in mere minutes (if i'm in a tank) and often end up with the highest KDR and kills (with vehicles). I have every class (of tank) maxed out and optimized loadouts for all situations (on tank enabled maps). But if I step out of my comfort zone (a tank seat) for fun others take my spot and perform poorly, to a point it's detrimental to our team. They'll get instantly ambushed (by bazooka assault troopers) or just stand at the back of the map trying to snipe only to get countersniped (by an enemy tank). So in the end I'm burdened with carrying the team (with passenger seats), breaking into capture points tanking damage (lol) and destroying enemy vehicles. This curse of mine is making me lose interest in the game.
i love the puma with the 50mm cannon and ap rounds, easy to hunt medium and even heavy tanks with it
Historical accuracy is not a good enough reason to make the autocannon the starter weapon, I had to grind roadkills and backcaps to get the cannon and start playing it the right way

It's fun enough, if you like onionwars go for it. As you might expect it's a lot of grinding required to get to a fair level of play, but it's doable specially if you go for the coop mode. The end of support means there's no more pay to win, but last I heard of it the servers were fricked, it's worth checking the latest reviews. The number of players might be greater than what steam charts says since it was free on epin a year ago.
