You don't actively react when the boss attacks you like a cat
You predict his attacks then use your heuristic or top-down quick thinking or muscle memory or whatever you call it to respond to the attacks

Just work on each of his phases legitimately once you get at least one phase down you will get further on. They give you all the tools that you need in your disposal. Start with phase one and learn it backwards and forwards then onto phase 2 and so forth, you got this anon

if you're not playing with the charmless/demon bell debuffs then there's truly no excuse, just hold block more often/longer and recover your posture more often
there's a lot of skill progression in this game, you'll see it eventually and you don't need much of a reaction time (I'm bad at games that require it)

      >just hold block more often/longer and recover your posture more often
Absolute meme advice. No boss except Owl has a punish that's fast enough to get you if you posture break
Holding block is wasted time that you should be using for attacks

I know it's counterproductive but if anon is struggling that hard then we need to put on the training wheels and play it slow. If he dies then he's not blocking enuff.

im saying they are easy compared to literally any other game that involves combat such as dmc the original god of war games (if you dont play them on easy) ninja gaiden, hell even metal gear rising manages to be harder than any of the souls games

      Anonymous

Genichiro is really friggin weak but I've had slip-ups sometimes. On the other hand it does feel good when you got so used to him that you start utterly destroying him in record time.
My first time with DoH was stupidly long progress but now somehow he dies incredibly fast when I replay him in Gauntlet/Reflection. Keep three Malcontents for phase3 and he melts.

I'm 29 but I always had about 200ms reaction time, 170 at best when I've been playing FPS games alot.
This boss isn't about reaction time, it's about learning its attack patterns and reacting accordingly. All the attacks are telegraphed way more than 200 ms before.

  34. 4 months ago

First phase is easy, afterwards all you need to learn is the timing for his attacks when he has his spear out and apply constant pressure to break his posture

The game seemingly wants you to first go through and get the flame vent from the flashback, then beat ogre and Gyoubu so your attack is higher, then beat her. If you rush right through to fighting her first then yes you're going to have a hard time.

    Typical

you can do it, get good at lightning, be fast and aggressive, learn his few big moves
def one of the hardest fights in souls, but nothing tops it
also prepare anus for inner isshin

Fight him in the fallen bridge area where there are no plants blocking your view.Did this with the inner fight

  50. 3 months ago
    Anonymous

isshin is just testing if you learned the games base mechanics instead of cheesing. apparently you chose the latter. sucks to suck. DSP did it in like 3 tries.

  51. 3 months ago
    Anonymous

When he starts using the spear, poison him, run like a coward then poison him again (you should have enought emblems to prock it twice, 14 IIRC). He'll be easier to kill now. For the third phase, just run again untill Isshin uses the Tomoe thunder, jump and return it for an easy opening (ignore the blocking part, the damage is negligible) , keep running and bait more thunders. Don't feel bad, Isshin isn't Gwyn, he's no pushover
Good luck, OP, for once you picked a good game

      Anonymous

Problem with poison is that by new game ++ and charmless/bell it takes more than a single full combo to proc poison so it's just a waste of emblems. Better off using it on the umbrella at that point to help perfect block some of his weird spaced combos and then use the remaining emblems for either sakura dance or mist raven for guaranteed/no bullshit lightning reversals on the 4th phase.

Do you get anything if you play the memories from beating bosses?

      Anonymous

Refighting bosses is something they added in a later patch. You only get something (namely, new boss fights) for beating the gauntlets, which you can't do unless you've already fought all the bosses for the gauntlet anyway
tl;dr no, it's something to do psotgame

      Anonymous

you get skins from the gauntlets but that's it

      Anonymous

For the first gauntlet you get Sakura Dance combat art which is a 1 emblem combo that is perfect for lightning reversals. You have to beat the game at least once to unlock that guantlet. Rest of the gauntlets are just skins.

I feel ya OP. Yeah I just dropped the game at this point. Its not worth the time investment to finish a fricking video game. Still though I enjoyed it for the most part so that's what matters. I was gonna get back round to it at some point but I lost my save file so it never happened.

Also whats with the new thing of having to wait 60s for a captcha?

      Anonymous

captcha is probably having a hard time keeping up with bots these days so their solution was "well just put a 60 second delay on everyone's first post I'm sure that will not just make things worse for the humans while bots just wait 60 more seconds now"
