devs have no say in what they do, if the publisher says something they do it. The way you're phrasing it makes it seem like you have a very naive and infantile way of looking at this.

Says the guy with a naive and infantile take. Do you honestly think game devs are just puppets with zero control? Of course they aren't. They do this kind of shit because they want to and support the decisions from their higher ups. If they didn't, they'd quit.

Lol they are literally my puppets. You see anon, most devs are now brainwashed SJW homosexuals who believe they are smart.

        They are not

But I am, which is why I control the money and power. See I have them make games for "people" longer you, so that I can continue to retain power and you remain stupid and weak. I am literally bragging directly to you about how I take advantage of people like you and guess what you're going to do?

You will buy whatever the frick I and others like me tell you. Now stfu and go but some dlc.

Absolutely false. Truth is, game director's are a bunch of idiots.

A few developers is enough to produce a couple of characters, items, areas, and activities per day and have an MMO of content in 1 month.

Some say it’s because the funding tied to ESG score, but maybe it’s just because a lot of people had the same bad ideas and games take a long time to develop, so we just have to power through until games get good again?

Its not just the egs score shit though, if you go through the twitters of some of the people employed at the companies they're people that believe this shit. The problem there is that the only solution to that is management telling them to shut the frick up which doesn't seem to happen enough.

People make games the way they think is fun. Mediocre games come from mediocre development.

GTA games were made in 1 year. It's obviously possible making systems that are large scale and dynamic.

Shooters' biggest problem is map design. The next is gunplay. The next is mobility.

Pure spite. Game devs hate the fans of the games, and they probably hate themselves too.

basically yes. if you want to dive deeper into *why*, you'll just get called /misc/, so frick it.

The twitter woke mob only works one way, and nobody has figured it out yet.

They tear down a game for not having politics, but they will NEVER lift one up for including them. In their eyes, you are just doing what is expected of you.

I don’t know about that. Did see the Gamespot review of Saints Row praising it for “inclusivity”, despite it not actually being a new thing for the franchise that you could make your character however you want.

I can't wrap my compressed lil' noggin around making a game/movie/program/anything for a group of people that not only doesn't consume your product but hates you regardless of the outcome. You're supposed to pander to your paying customers, right? Was everything I learned in COB a lie?

    >the good old days when there were video games didn't exclusively have sassy black Blacks as their females
Was this released today, she would be black. All females are now black, both in animations and video games. How did it all manage to get even worse?

OPs example was the best one. A British female soldier in WWII with a prosthetic arm never fricking happened and was inserted purely for Twitter clout.

The real shame is that there are hundreds of stories about women doing insane, heroic, and frankly unbelievable shit during WWII that no one ever writes about or makes a movie about. But we gotta shoehorn one into a role she never held. Absolute clown world.

I think it's just that video games as a hobby has been hijacked by weird people with weird tastes. Like to someone Midwest who's a normalgay I bet they think that looks good.

My tastes are just not being pampered too and until devs realize that I'm not buying their shitty ugly games with special snowflake characters who dress in their personality for some reason rather than being a faceless protagonist who has more nuance and subtly.

Have you ever been to the Midwest anon most. These characters designs probably appeal to a small amount of people in general outside of the dude.

Idk a guy with a beard and tattoos. Slobby looking person in general. Your Midwest dream isn't into clean shaved 1950s America, they look just like that.

          Wisconsinite here.

These character designs *don't* appeal to the majority of Midwesterners. They appeal to the city folk who haven't held a gun in their life.

I grew up in a small military base. I won't say where but it's in middle north america. The way I've seen the average guy dress Michael from GTA V would surprise you at how ugly they would unintentionally make him

Corporate creatives are just drones who think they're important. Which is even more pathetic because the average corporate wage drone at least knows they're worthless and replaceable at any moment.

I'm sick of you mental midgets throwing these meaningless buzzwords around. That's not why BFV failed, it failed because its objectively a terrible game. The mechanics aren't thought out properly and half-arsed. The entire gimmick of "hero" characters is jarring and moronic. Implementing BR was the worst possible decision especially playing that hot garbage disaster firestorm then they doubled down on it. Let's address why the game never recovered as well: The Holiday TTK patch. I've never seen a company make such a pants on head moronic decision trying to cash in on christmas.

remember the top dev said he implemented Fornite ideas because his daughter said it was cool? battlefield is not a battle royale franchise

I call it fink-core. There is so much of it that there might as well be a genre. All these games feel the same therefore they must have a classification all to their own.

  12. 2 years ago

It's true that they gave up on making the game better after the reception their first trailer got, and all the support it had was mediocre because of that?

    >What drives devs to do this?
You didn't gatekeep hard enough, though perhaps it is unfair to say "you" because it was far to big for individuals to stop.

The ones that want all of this got themselves hired, got themselves promoted and then took control. Also this is at a level beyond employees since investors are also on board and worked with getting the above into power. Investors are also humans and not simply money-making robots, after all, so they have political interests of their own too.

There's no amount of gatekeeping that will stop a zealot from ruining a franchise to the beat of Twitter's drum. Just look at what's going on with Battletech right now. The devs want that shit to go woke and no amount of fan outrage can stop it. If anything the more the fans complain the more driven they become.

        Anonymous

I meant gatekeeping in terms of the creative element of the franchise that you are invested in. If you really wanted to secure a franchise's direction you should have become part of the developer team and then help to further gatekeep from there.

But as I said it was far too big and coordinated of a push for individual fans to stop. Not really anyone fault in particular here.

A lot of game devs now are coding troony types. I know "hurr le trannies" is cliche but that really is the sorts of people who go into that field these days.
