Link was never an executioner, and Ganon was not one to beg for mercy. Even if it was a ruse, Link would've given Ganon a second chance and then vanquish him either, because Link is strong enough to take such a risk. No matter where Ganon goes, Link will triumph regardless, he doesn't need to just kill him right off the bat. He's a good person and good people have the capacity to show mercy.
A hero is not a god. He cannot be responsible for giving a villain responsible for uncountable deaths a second chance. Even if he himself isn't at risk, and he could stop the villain again, what about everyone else? Any harm the villain does the second time around, is partially the responsibility of the hero who spared him.
The villain caused harm and the villain did the backstabbing, not the Hero. The Hero follows his principles, his values, his morals and stays true to himself. He saves people and when it calls for it and there are no other alternatives, he will carry out justice.
A hero knows when it's time to act and he will always strive to do it the best way he can. It's easy to just kill, but to kill when it's necessary, that's the challenge and the burden a Hero has to carry.
Heroes aren't perfect. It's okay for them to sometimes go over what's necessary and deal a decisive blow. Should Peppino have sat Pizzahead down and calmly asked him to not nuke his pizzeria? Hell no, the guy was crazy, he needed a piledriving.
That's what I'm saying, Heroes are not perfect, they'll sometimes make the wrong calls, but in the end, they'll do what's right. They don't know the outcome of what is to happen, they just want to save as many people as they can.

Ill admit that I didnt watch all the cutscenes, so forgive me if they reveal that the Ganon stand-in was abused as a child and failed art school. I dont know anything about Arzette's character arc, how forced it is, if she becomes a Rey-like, or any of that, so I have nothing to comment there. My point is Dali is made clear from the intro cutscene and the first cutscenes you have with him onscreen to be a goof. Unless something happens later in the game that I haven't seen, I really dont think this game is trying to scream, "FRICK MEN," or make some political statement. It is a lighthearted piece of media, and I'll be surprised if the CD-i tribute game becomes the Uncle Tom's Cabin of this generation.

I'm not reading this entire thread but I watched some cutscenes and they aren't even animated as well as the CDi Zeldas.
Which is ironic because the CDi cutscenes were deemed notoriously "bad" but they actually have clean linework and are almost redrawn each frame. Yes they have a lot of awkward pacing and motions and zoom-ins but that's what made it unique and meme-able. In comparison Arzette's animation is very stiff and the artstyle isn't as good as the source it is parodying. I've seen better fanwork than this yet somehow this is an actual game.

That doesn't exactly address the weird contrast between the obvious CDi stylized cutscenes and NPCs with the protagonist who's sense of humor snappy quips of sarcasm that sound like they belong in an HBO cartoon along with the just really off putting tonal shifts to somewhat serious and borderline edgy moments the protagonist has. It's just fricking jarring and it doesn't help make the fetch quests you're doing endearing like in the original CDi games.
