>Be me, a couple months ago
>Hear about this game
>Hear lots of people praising it and saying it "broke them"
>Eh, I already played Earthbound so why not?
>Pick up the game
>It quickly became one of my favorite games of all time
Funny how that works.
I’m glad you liked it.
That's cool and all, but Ganker. Ganker, Ganker, Ganker. My Ganker browsers who go to Ganker and discuss video games that are discuss-worthy. When did you decide to drop this game and leave it in the dust due to how bad it really got? It was this particular point in the game that I thought "Jee, doesn't this seem a little forced? For a Mother game? Which are normally supposed to be comfy and light-hearted?" Once I thought all those thoughts, I just quit and went to replay M2, which is leagues more replayable, and back when Itoi didn't decide to force himself so much.
The rhythm mechanic was so forced and tacked on. If I wanted a rhythm game, I'd just play Beatmania.
It incests upon its shelf
That same part of the game made me just put it down and replay Earthbound, too.
Trannies. For some reason, Itoi went full woke and put trannies in the game. Why did he force trannies into a non-political game?
I couldn't even get past the first chapter. Bored me to tears.
I didn't even pick up this game. I just played Earthbound again.
Daily reminder:
2>1>3
Seethe all you want, it's the honest truth.
Its desperate attempts at being Oscarbait made me drop it.
I'll be honest, the sunflower fields chapter was so cliche that I didn't even bother finishing it.
Why did Itoi force this point of the game upon us?
It truly insists upon itself, doesn't it?
Such a forced and unnatural part of the game.
>This game
>Not being heavyhanded and forced as frick
Lmaooo. Kek even.
>There are people out there who will defend that scene
Whew boy, does that point of the game force itself upon us or what?
Unironically, the trannies made me drop the game.
Is there a reason everyone saying it’s forced? I thought the scene was poignant and showed the effect of Hinawa’s death on Flint. How the loss tore him apart and made him lash out, making him the first person to be jailed in the village.
Is it really all samegays cause I genuinely can’t believe these are real people saying this.
no offense but are you new?
It is pretty forced tbh and I did drop the game solely because of that. Yes, I did play it before that juxtagay weirdo spammed threads about it.
It's one or two guys replying to themselves. No Ganker thread has this level of consensus.
Yeah cause every time that image gets posted everyone acts like it’s consensus but I wanted to be sure.
Don't listen to him. There are people out there that actually dislike M3.
Of course there are, but not 90% of people.
There are Mother 3 fanboy schizos who claim that somehow there's one schizo trying to samegay the frick out of any M3 thread, but honestly, they're completely baseless claims.
It's a meme you dip
forced meme by one schizo.
itoi implored my wife and children
Trannies.
It insists, forces, and implores itself upon itself.
/v/... there's no way Itoi would force points of the game upon us, would he?
God, I'm glad I never bothered to get to that scene because the game was already boring me to death before that point.
The worst game ever made.
QRD? I never played Mother 3. Why is this post getting so many (You)s?
It's just a bunch of anons who dislike Mother 3 and make jokes about it. I don't blame them. It's a pretty shit game, so I wouldn't reccommend it to anyone.
Okay, but what exactly is happening in the scene in anon’s pic?
It's a very corny, terrible scene. Trust me, you wouldn't want to go through it.
Describe it to me in a nutshell now that you have me curious.
Bascially, Filnt sperges out because his wife died. It's as melodramatic and corny as you're thinking it is.
Frick you, I liked it
There's no accounting for taste, especially for an objectively shit game like M3.
but it's an objectively good game
But it isn't.
it is
Except that it isn't.
its been like more than 10 years since I played Mother 3 but iirc that's when Flint finds out his wife is dead and starts going ape shit
Its copypasta they're replying to at this point
its hardly a copypasta when its all samegayging
It's Poopy Joe, a longtime Ganker schizo.
https://arch.b4k.co/v/search/image/LlEz2HhOCqRQXDo9Nddo0Q/
Just ignore these threads when they pop up. He samegays nonstop to keep them bumped and make it look like other people agree with him.
Ignore this anon. They're just a Mother 3 fanboy schizo who somehow thinks one person would be insane enough to do that sorta thing. They just don't like it when someone criticizes their favorite game.
Looks like Poopy Joe got a new screencap.
Pretty meh scene.
So, is your plan to keep spamming this until you meme it into reality?
Kumatora sex
You're right
>panties
kumatora is exclusively for spats only
based
>Safe horny character
Yaaawn.
>underaged tomboy is safe horny now
accidentally based?
Seeing porn of her when I was 13 is the only reason I have a /ss/ fetish. I wish I had an older foul mouthed tomboy gf
For the love of god give me the sauce
Been waiting for porn of her of this quality for 7 years
Kumabro this thread fricking sucks, just give it up and wait until the next proper Kuma thread
I sort of just filter them out as they show up but I guess you're right.
Yeah just start a new thread. This one is ruined by someone who needs meds
weve had a bunch of Kuma threads lately, best to let them recharge
it's dumbfounding what some people will do just because something they don't like is being discussed
that's extreme and untreated autism for ya
Can't believe he kneeled to (actual) autists
So is Ganker just not allowed to talk about Mother 3 anymore
only in the threads made by the same schizo, usually involving the OP thumbnail or the same image of Flint breaking down
>mfw you can't talk about Mother 3 anymore without coomers and samegay schizos shitting up the threads.
/vr/ might be better for discussion of it, unless the samegay shits up that board too.
I still want to believe this will happen!
Mother 3 is a nice game. It has a good difficulty curve as long as you dont abuse beat combos or grind levels. The sprites are really nice and no other game has emulated them except for .
My only complaint is how cutscene heavy it is. Earthbound didnt have this problem while also having an arguably better narrative.
Personally, I thought Mother 3's narrative was a lot stronger than Earthbound's and enjoyed the cutscenes in it. Earthbound's mostly a fun, weird time but the order and reason for events happening are pretty isolated from each other, and party members sorta stack into the group and don't have all that much personality left to them after they do.
Mother 3 crammed in a lot of detail to the world changing each chapter and how different characters (even regular NPCs) also reacted to those changes. Hell, Lucas has an incredibly good character arc even before you control him (outside of the Claus/Lucas tutorial) and before the timeskip, it made me like him a lot and get excited for playing as him afterwards.
Yeah, it has a lot of cutscenes but they're all short and snappy and full of interesting action. I wish more games had such a good grasp of how to pace their narrative.
That shit is never happening, man.
Not sure if this was legitimate or not, but someone said that the creator requested everyone working on it continue working for free when they swapped from Mother 4 to Oddity, and a lot of people chose not to do free labor for a new IP indie RPG.
Sorry to bust your bubble but the trailer was fake, the team disbanded except for the main person how says is totally still happening despite having nobody esle working on it.
omori fans: the death of my daughter left me broken
mother3 fans: i know your pain..
non named fans: pussies
What the frick is Omori even about
i don't know, something about sucking dick
Guilt and escapism, or something? I haven't played it, but I read a plot summary on Ganker back when that came out. The protagonist spends their days locked up in their room (like a hikikomori, geddit?) daydreaming about having adventures with idealised versions of his sister and childhood friends from the neighbourhood, because he wants to avoid facing reality where he accidentally killed his sister by pushing her down the stairs, and his best friend who was there helped cover it up as suicide.
Poopy Joe thread.
I want to debate again how Mother 3's plot isn't addressing capitalism, it's a cautionary tale against finding happiness through overindulgence and consumerism. No, these are not the same as capitalism.
What character was Kumatora based on?
a dogfricker
i mean in smash ultimate she's unmistakable a girl
>Be me, a couple months ago
Who are you now?
>Be me, a couple months ago
>Hear about this game
>Hear lots of people praising it and saying it "broke them"
>Eh, I already played Earthbound so why not?
>Pick up the game
>It's shit
Funny how that works
troony game
Last for Kumatora sex
I’m currently on route to Tanetane Island, Lucas/Boney at Level 37, Kuma at 36 and Duster at 33. Steel Mechorilla and New Fassad were extremely tough, even when I had Shield Gamma for the latter. Am I underleveled?
Some days late, but previous April 20th was the 18th anniversary of Mother game. Just so you know.
By the way, are there any other MOTHER 3-like games (Mind you, not EarthBound-like) games, besides OMORI, that are worth to play?
Cant remember the ideal levels for each part....but when in doubt, grind and get more levels and wealth.
Wanna try to get into this again, I started with mother 1 but I lost the pc, BEST of the games translations?
I'd play 2 first. 1 is a bit of a miss. 2 is what 1 wanted to be.
1 is my favorite so frick that other guy. I simply recommend playing the official versions of 1 and Earthbound, and v1.3 of the English patch for 3. If you absolutely MUST play an uncensored Mother 1 with the more accurate fan retranslation, this is the only patch that is worth playing.
https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/5923/
Do NOT let any idiots talk you into playing the GBA port or 25th Anniversary Edition.
>1 is my favorite so frick that other guy.
It's the same story as 2, but less fleshed out.
Maybe you played a different game than I did. There are thematic parallels and a shared alien invasion backdrop but they're totally different beasts, brah.
Each game in the series not only builds on the last one, but also subverts it. That's the value in playing them in order.
The story beats are very similar as well. 2 almost feels like a remake to me, like it's the game they meant 1 to be, but didn't have the hardware to achieve. I don't understand how you don't see it.
ah yes the "mother 2 is a remake" meme... y'see I think that's really reductive! my perspective is that the shared story beats like the monkey cave and flying men feel more like on-the-nose nods than an earnest effort to make the same thing again. 2 does a much better job of making its world feel more lively and welcoming. there's loads of memorable moment-to-moment events and character interactions that stuck with me in Earthbound, perhaps more than any other game. but at the end of the day the prevailing threat throughout the game is very much on the backburner 90% of the time. Giygas is sparsely explained or developed any further than what was established in the first game, but that's by design because it's more supposed to be a game about the happenings along the way. BUT mother 1's main narrative feels just a touch more fleshed out and cohesive to me thanks to the heavy focus on George and Maria's story and the larger role that Magicant and each of the melodies play in the plot. there's an air of bittersweetness that hangs over the whole thing, and paired with the greater focus on exploration it has a distinct flavor that Earthbound doesn't really try to recapture.
Not sure if that's a focus on exploration or they just accidentally made the maps too wide.
Yes, there are differences, but they're pretty minor compared to the resemblances. I really think they were unhappy about the limitations they faced making the first game, and had themselves a bit of a do-over with the second. The third one is vastly different.
>Not sure if that's a focus on exploration or they just accidentally made the maps too wide.
It's a byproduct of kind of being a Dragon Quest II ripoff, but I gotta say actually having a reason to use the train and poke around in areas you're not supposed to be in yet is pretty awesome. It's absolutely a product of compromise, but it utilizes its limited systems to sell the "kid goes out adventuring in a strange and dangerous world" feeling the very best it could without relying on as many one-off events like Earthbound.
I definitely agree the 3rd game makes the others seem much more similar in the scheme of things.
Yeah, I'm not saying it's not a good game, I just think playing the original might take some wind out of the sails of the second.
Anyway, at least we squeezed a decent conversation out of this samegay hate thread.
For the first blind playthrough Mother 3 easily have the better story, humor and even gameplay compare to Mother 2 but as a game which you may want to play more than once Mother 2 feel like a more complete experience as Mother 3 have too many character switching just to forever drop the character making the whole Flint and Monkey section on replays (and arguably even on the first blind run) completely worthless. Mother 2 never had playable filler grind cutscenes like that, worst that happens is losing Poo but he only miss out on a minor dungeon and come back with a powerful skill to make up for it. Hell I'll be less piss if Flint was usable with his level retained for the final section as a full circle kind of moment but nope, he just follows you doing jack shit. Playable cutscenes can work, SotN and Megaman X3 comes to mind where you play a character just long enough to enjoy them but without wasting time on nonsense.
