That was a really cool and fun boss fight

This is a bullshit boss fight I don't like it
This games really fricks up sometimes. Two stage boss fights are bad.

If you're dying to the fire storm just run left and keep an eye out for his sword
And go upgrade the spear if you want
This boss fight is kino, just level up the serpent hunter if you're having trouble
Skill issue. Cope. Probably the most annoying fight in the game but two stage fights are fricking kino and you're bad
Just spam the fricking spear, Black person died so quickly I didn't even know what mechanics he has other than some flying skulls or some shit
This. My friends were raging about how unfair and pure suffering this fight was, I'm talking real hatred for the game devs, one of them even dropped the game because of this fight. I didn't even know who they were talking about because I just stun locked the guy in both phases. I figured it was this game's "Storm Ruler" gimmick fight and moved on. It wasn't until someone described him that I was like ... man what
Wow really?! For REAAAAAL??
I didn't have time. Everything was on fire and I could hardly get an attack in. I didn't know what the frick was going on.
Well that's the fun part as you keep doing the fight you learn what the frick is going on
2nd phase is fine except the "run away for 30 seconds" attack.
>Two stage boss fights are bad.
I think they're really fricking stupid when the 2 phases are basically different bosses, like maliketh and godfrey.
I liked those cause at least it was only until half health. Of course Radagon and Elden Beast sucked for that. Rennala was too easy for that to be a problem.
>Rennala was too easy for that to be a problem.
I actually struggled with her second phase a fair bit on my first playthrough, and I can safely say that having to go through the long but unthreatening run to the boss room and the slow-ass first phase every single time was a uniquely annoying experience.
Apparently, she has a 80% magic resistance so I'm assuming you were a mage or had a weapon with magic damage? Her spell where she shoots a multiple projectiles can actually do a ton of damage if it hits you to be fair. She killed me once on my first run cause I wasted all my stuff figuring out the gimmick cause the 2nd and 3rd glowing girl were kind of hidden but 2nd try she got fricked.
If you need to, just summon a bulky fire-resistant spirit to distract him while you spam the Spear.
The bosses in general suck, but the late game ones are trully garbage beside Godfrey.
I don't mind two-phase bossfights but when it's like, every bossfight it's just annoying.
>get them down to half health
>black goes black, cutscene starts
>NYUGH! *stumbles back panting heavily*
>*falls down on one knee and with one hand on sword/mace/whatever*
>"something something TARNISHED you will NOT something something Elden Ring"
>"now you will face my TRVE powrr!"
>ebin overmixed orchestra slop increases to ear-shredding levels
>boss stands back up with a with a new title over the health bar, 50/50 chance it's replenished entirely
>opens with a semi-unique jumping flashing air attack with a delay and HYUEG damage
>eventually dies
>I'm sorry... forgive me...
>Black person SLAIN
>spirit ash reward you'll never use
Kino boss design, Miyazaki
Everything you described is fricking kino
bro i got chills
Champ Gundy had the best phase transition.
>realizes he's getting his ass kicked
>doesn't pull out any ancient magic weeb shit
>just gets really frick-ass mad and tries harder
doesnt he become a snake monster?
That's Iudex Gundyr, the tutorial fight, not Champion Gundyr
oh yea i forgot about that guy
Based gundy
did people struggle with champion gundyr? i feel like at that point in the game he's really easy to deal with, think i actually first tried him
I personally didn't but I can see why people get easily overwhelmed by him. He's much more aggressive than most bosses and with somewhat erratic patterns when it comes to his elbow and kick attacks. Plus his charge is tricky to dodge with the amount of tracking it has
Summon Jellyfish.
>zoomer opinion
Everyone with a brain and taste recognizes rykard as the most kino boss fight
Everything about the Volcano Manor is pure and simple edgelord kino
Listen. We're not arguing if it's cool looking or not. Because it's really really cool looking. Mechanically it's gay.
ur a gayet

Wooooow so hard
better quit the game then dumbass, cause theres lots of 2 phase fights in er
mmmhhhmmm join the Serpent King as mmmmfamily
Phase 1 plays no different from phase 2
Literally just a numbers game in that you take more damage, and he might decide to do a moronic attack that leaves you with comical openings
Genuinely hard though jif you have 1hko vig and no shield and can't dodge for shit
But frankly it's more impressive if you can get to that point in the game with those 3 issues
>moaning about literal gimmick fight
The only anon who ever had any right to say shit about Rykard was that one Rykard anon who skipped gimmick weapon/it got glitched in not appearing so he got forced to beat him with his own weapon.
>wow this boss is really cool
>oh he hasn't stopped attacking in five minutes and I can't get a swipe in edgewise
Elden Ring makes a lot of mistakes with its bosses.
>oh he hasn't stopped attacking in five minutes and I can't get a swipe in edgewise
Skill issue, you have plenty of time for swings in between attacks.
Especially shield pokes or jump attacks with that gimmick spear.
Or you use heavy attacks to interrupt the boss.
I think anon was making more of a general complaint
In that case, my post still applies with the exception of
>Jump attacks with that gimmick spear
It's great that the stormruler boss is actually a bit of a challenge this time around. You gotta be aggressive with the charged R2s and the weapon art of the serpent hunter, but also time them correctly. If so, you should be able to maximize the time the snake or rykard are stunned
i never beat nameless king properly because his first stage is so tedious and boring to redo every time you die
i managed to get nameless king replacing soul of cinder via boss randomiser on NG+3 which was so good
