This game is redpilled because the endgame is disregarding the wagie grind and instead making money off family business and you get several options for it

Sims 2 has an insane level of soul, sims 3 is pretty cool too but somewhat unpolished and EA got really cancerous with it by having not only "stuff pack" dlc's but in-game purchases as well. Really cool add-on's though, the content from world adventures, ambitions or into the future is pretty fun but you DO need to fix the game with modding. One option is the sims 3 fitgirl repack because it comes with the fix mods installed, has all the dlc content and ALSO is modded so that you have all the in-game items unlocked (again, unbelievable ea actually wanted people to pay with real money for the priveledge of unlocking some items for in-game purchase)

Microhouses. You want to minimize the time your sim spends walking around. Make sure you've got the comfiest gamer char, most expensive computer for easy job searching and quick fun raising.

the open neighborhood ruined me, can't go back to 2 for long periods. I end up just keeping my guy in the basic house year round

2 is my childhood but 3 is the one I grew up and married
2 but not to discredit 3, i think 2 is more polished and alot more focused than 3
sims 1, 2, and 3, and also sims/sims 2/bustin out on PS2 i've played thousands of hours. sims 4 got less than a hundred before i gave up
