currently playing on my deck. blown away by the visuals/performance/battery life
the game is way more fun that i remember too. think i was too hung up about the joker being replaced with scarecrow and arkham knight to enjoy it properly on release. that an the batmobile being a pain in the ass to control
Lack of free roam as other characters bothered me. They made it look like Dick and Tim would be so important in the trailers (not to mention the emphasis on the villain team up), but then it's just business as usual.
there was so much i was looking forward to with the sequel to this but we got his homosexual sidekicks instead
that and a DC villain mod of the division
i hate women and trannies so much god fricking damn
Map based lighting/shadow solutions will always look infinetly better than Ray/Path Tracing. Tracing looks unrealistic as frick because everything casts a perfectly clear shadow/light on everything and reflective surfaces look like plastic. Working with oldschool solutions like shadowmaps looks far more realistic and better artistically.
I was playing it last night for the first time in years. It's fricking magic. I can't believe it looks and plays as good as it does, and my PS5 isn't doing much heavy lifting either, since there hasn't been an upgrade. The weather effects, lighting, animation, textures - all top tier, and all stitched together in fricking Unreal Engine 3. Meanwhile the Return to Arkham versions of Asylum and City are in UE4 and are buggy shitpiles.
I also booted up Gotham Knights for a little comparison and also vomited. What a piece of shit.
New games don't even look that good, what the frick are the requirements rising for? Just half-assing the optimization and expecting you to pay for it.
take 2015 games, uprez them to 4K and they easily look as good as anything releasing today, another example is the order 1886 (shit game but undeniably still good looking today)
>released in such a pisspoor state it was taken off Steam while they fixed the problems and actually issued refunds to anyone that wanted it, even with more than 2 hours of playtime
I still don't understand how they went from making City work day 1 to that dumpsterfire.
Project mismanagement, the PC version was contracted out to a pajeet company at the last minute
Nvidia paid them to force in the dumb nvidia fog effect and whateverthefrick too
>that freeroam mod that lets me run around the entire city as harley >she's quipping the whole time like an insane person >game is gorgeous as frick and not even skipping a beat in framerate
we're never getting games like this again.
Rocksteady's bamham trilogy is one of the finest trilogies of games ever created and Ganker contrarianism cannot make that untrue
Perfect games? No
Greater than sum of their parts? Absolutely
I'm sure you're right, I only played Knight once and don't remember the specifics
I didn't care for the batmobile gameplay but as a series growing in scale and complexity and culminating in Knight I think you couldn't ask for much better overall
The amount of soul in the games too, little details and quirks and worldbuilding
It pisses me off how shitty the industry is now. AAA is embarrassing, and no, indies aren't a substitute because most of those are also trash and suffer from the same shit the AAA games do just on a smaller scale.
GRAFFIX was a big fat mistake. We've kept chased prettier pixels and textures at the cost of damn near everything else. Imagine if Crysis never came out.

>cant free roam as catwoman
what were they thinking
They were stupid?
>Reddit joke
>admitting you're gay
what were you thinking?

this and mgsv ran so beautifully on my old 1060 laptop
And it certainly looks like it
Every graphical "advancement" since then has been a scam.
homies are seriously upscaling their games these days and don't see any issue.
yeah the only thing you need past this is Dwarf Fortress and Noita-tier physics

WHO IS READY
Dip this Black person is boiling oil so we don't have to fricking see her goddamn face anymore.
I want to scoop out her eyes with a spoon

mogged by shitcher
TW3 looked like complete shit post-downgrade, even cisquisition "mogs" it thanks to Frostbite. Hell, even TW2 is just more pleasing to look at.
This is a Wii U game
Wii U doesn't output 4K you cheater.
that's the point

This game made Nolan's shitty costume look really good
Bioshock ripoff

graphics have already peaked, legitimately who needs more than that at high resolutions to have a good time?
Graphicsgays.
Shitty devs don't optimize anymore, in 5 years new games on a 4090 will look worse than PS4 titles.
Arkham Knight looks so good because rainy city night is peak GRAPHICS
Looks terrible. Dull colours are disgusting especially for lights.
15yo
What’s the taxi game
crazy taxi 4
GTA 4 I reckon with an amount of mods such that it renders the game unrecognizable from the original

Asylum and City are classics, Knight is good but its new gimmicks arent that great and the good parts are kind of more of the same
I'm sure you're right, I only played Knight once and don't remember the specifics

unreal engine 3 was the last good unreal engine.

behold the GOTY of 2023
