Whenever DLC/a new generation drops, every single Pokemon starts in OU before dropping down the following month. Exclusively to the first month, the lower the usage, the more tiers they drop, which is how you have Pokemon going from OU to PU in one month.

Oh. I was going to ask, how the frick did Levanny end up in OU. What the hell was happening that a Grass/Bug was above Roaring Moon and Blissey.

Also, there's a ZU tier now? What the frick are they going to call the next tier below that?

        Anonymous

I don't know if there's going to be a tier below ZU ever. Game Freak isn't ever going to add all the Pokemon back again, so there's always going to be too few Pokemon for a tier below ZU to be viable.

Technically there is already one called SU (Subzero Used) but it doesn't have a ladder or room like ZU and is more of a discord circlejerk.

Usage fell off a cliff when Bax was still allowed and Snow was everywhere, also has to compete with like, 8 different ground types which such an environment with 8 prominent bulky grounds is also very hostile for Heatran.

        >Landorus-Therian missed the cutoff by 0.2%.

            Anonymous

Toxic and Knock Off got improved distribution again. Weavile got Knock Off back which is why it jumped up a tier. Same with Roaring Moon.

Oh yeah, and Scald is back, but Toxapex doesn't get it.

Heatran fell because of Ogerpion-Hearthflame who got quickbanned. It had Moldbreaker so Heatean couldn’t even wall with Flash Fire that’s how stupid that mon was.

Garchomp has to compete with Ground-types like Great Tusk while getting shit on by Enamorus who completely counters it. Gliscor was the final nail for it to drop.

Not really. The issue is how many Ground types are in the tier. When you've got 8 bulky Ground types competing for usage with eachother, something is going to fall in usage. That's what happened to Garchomp and Landorus-T. Heatran, on the other hand, is a victim of there being 8 goddamned Ground types in the tier. Might as well make a tier filled full of Fighting types and ask why Kingambit fell to UU.

Like [...] said, but also Sun Bike makes all of the Protosynthesis (Namely Mane) better while the Electric bike has a really strong Electric stab and makes pokemon with Quark Drive really strong (Namely Iron Valiant)

Alright, thanks. I figured that Sun Bike was there because it's a better Groudon, and probably explains why Kyogre is up there as the best rain setter. I did forget about Quark Drive and the boost it would give to other pokemon, especially since people probably don't shut down terrains like they do weather.

Terrain can only be removed by using a different terrain or using Ice Spinner, which are both very uncommon so disruption of Eterrain is very hard since No Tapus of Healthy metagame.

I thought ubers were ban city? Why is skeledirge on both ubers and uu?

            Anonymous

Tiers work by banning everything in the tier above. You can use every Pokemon not in Ubers in OU. In UU, you can use every Pokemon not in OU or Ubers. This means that Pokemon like Quagsire, which can fall all the way down to the bottom tier if the conditions are right, can see high usage in OU or Ubers. Quagsire is one of a small handful of Pokemon that have jumped from a bottom tier to a top tier within a month because their skills were suddenly needed. Blissey jumped from Never Used all the way to Over Used because of Freddy Fazbear.

Ubers isn't a usage tier, so a Pokemon can be UU by usage and still be a top contender in Ubers (see: Skeledirge, Quagsire, Blissey, and so on). For lower tiers, it's likely a case of

        >Pokemon is good in low tier
        >Monstrously strong Pokemon (for the tier) drops in by usage
        >Pokemon that was good in the lower tier gets countered and is no longer good, thus drops to the tier below
        >Monster threat gets banned to higher tier meaning the Pokemon that dropped is good again
This is what happened with Piloswine. It got chased out of NU by Meloetta and Inteleon, who got banned, and had high usage in PU and NU the following month because its counters were gone.

        Anonymous

Technically, you can use lower tiered pokemon in any higher tier fight any time you want. But they probably won't hit the 4% usage (to say nothing about the ~15% on the list) to appear twice.
Which pokemon are you seeing twice? You're likely seeing a pokemon and its pre-evolution (Weavile/Sneasel) or an alternate form (Scizor/Kleavor).

They're Paradox Pokemon, One group resemble how a species of Pokemon might have looked in the past, while another are potential future, robotic versions. The Paradox comes from the fact that some of these creatures shouldn't exist, like pic related. • 8 months ago

That's what happens when a meta is overcentralized. You have to use a small handful of strong Pokemon to have any chance at winning so there isn't room to play around much. There isn't a hard limit on the amount of Pokemon that can be in OU. If everything had just about 5% usage, there could be over 100 Pokemon in the tier.

I just drink and do Gen 1 randoms. I don't want to deal with all the bullshit of later gens. I stopped playing "competitively" during Gen 5 so everything after just seems fricked to me.

I still crack up when both Pokemon get paralyzed multiple turns in a row. I wish Showdown had a Stadium randoms though.

Who the frick still plays Pokemon these days?

    >day and night is fricked
    >can't enter houses
    >there's nothing to do after beating the game
    >battle tower is DLC

It's not really a comfy game to play recently.

      >day and night is fricked
Waiting several hours for night time sucks and wastes time
      >can't enter houses
      Pointless feature
      >there's nothing to do after beating the game
What are raids, trades, and battles
      >battle tower is DLC
No one played it to begin with

All ScarVol did was trim the fat.

This is exactly what those dicksuckers will tell you.

Most people playing Smogon formats don't actually buy/play regular Pokemon games anymore. The on-cart community on Smogon is only a couple hundred people (not counting the VGC players using it to lab their teams).

That's what Pokemon Showdown is for. It's a free battle simulator that gives you the only thing that doesn't suck absolute ass. The games might be irredeemable, but at least comp is still as shitty as it was a decade ago, meaning it's now the highest quality portion of the entire franchise.
