Think how some games have buildings in backgrounds you are never supposed to reach so you no clip to it and the building is actually a flat texture and super simplistic. I wouldn't even call this a tech demo, it's something I would expect in a benchmark software, but if devs can actually shit out something optimized and that still does require that hardware, then all the better.

The problem I see is that the system requirements are too high for something that doesn't look any better compared to the current best looking games. If they let you turn off features like lumen and virtual shadow maps the game could be played on weaker hardware or better performance on better rigs.

Yes, the engine is completely insane, in a good way, which is why I just downloaded the latest version of it. It's the only engine doing things 'right' in terms of actually using what GPUs are capable of to smooth out images properly in an analytic way and make lighting work as a 'reasonable approximation' of how it should, as opposed to just shoving the latest Nvidia trashfire features in and abusing them mindlessly, and then going "whoa, it has RAYTRACING, that's totally just like real life, even if it obviously doesn't look any better and just trashes your performance, haha, better use out AI upscaling AA that guesses everything and makes any motion look like garbage".
