Wasteland being #1 is why you know they're a bunch of crpg gigachads. They can see the best things it did, because they were playing the games as they released. You can only look backwards and go "I can't immediately enjoy it, because it's not handholding me with modern sensibilities".
pretty great list of games. the only stinker is captain blood and i never cared for populous. the modern list has regressed to anything an ai (or ign) could spit out...much prefer having a semblance of genuine personality even if it means the strict computer game focus. nice to see freespace 2 at all thats all im saying.

Honestly refreshing to see a list like this. The medium has really become homogenized to death. Most top cuts are just an amalgamation of Valve, Nintendo, Doom and whatever flavor of the month modern game is in vogue.

Wow, that is totally out of my realm. None of these are bad games (I even own Pharaoh but never played it), but definitely heavy PC bias.
