extremely good game, but not completely thought out. the "endgame" is nigh impossible because it hinges on luck. there's a point where you can't skill your way out of it. but of course many games are like that once you've put a lot of time into them and want to get that 100%.
>also the music is FRICKING GAY.
It was a different time, a lot of early 00s pop rock hasn't aged well. At least the soundtrack isn't as bad as NFSHP2. I think this song plays on repeat in hell.
It's remarkable just how well this game still plays even to this day. It's a shame that the devs ultimately didn't even want to do this but were just sucking enough dick to work their way up to Need For Speed.
>devs ultimately didn't even want to do this
EA dared Criterion to make another smash hit after they made Burnout 2, thinking that it was a fluke. Criterion agreed, but only on the conditions that they could spend as much of EA's money as they wanted AND that EA would have absolutely NO say on the game's creative process. And so Criterion made Burnout 3, which went on to sell even better than 2 and be widely regarded as the best in the series, if not one of the best arcade racers ever made.
If anything, EA took a big fricking slap to the face.
>NO say on the game's creative process
I'm pretty sure the licensed soundtrack would've been an EA decision. The dynamic soundtrack from Burnout 2 was fricking phemomenal and I guarantee without EA they'd have expanded on that concept.
B2's soundtrack was pretty forgettable besides Ocean Spring. Way too empty and with no energy whatsoever. >EA Trax
Soundtrack is licensed and separate from gameplay.
Heartbreak Hills is by far the best track but there were more than those two which were good. A ton of brilliant songs in that game. You only got to properly hear them when boosting though.
>no option to go back to main menu after pausing in the middle of a race when you could in 2 >obnoxious soundtrack >crashes interrupting the flow of the race
I specifically pulled out Atreyu and Yellowcard because I recognize those band names from back then from advertisements. I also didn't "cite" shit because this is a autismo old man gaming board, not a fricking courtroom.
The takedowns being activated whenever it want, the image quality (you forgot how overdone the bloom and blur is done, making it hard to read what's going on), the annoying hud (those messages poping up for nothing), etc.
At the end, Burnout Paradise >> Burnout 3

also a good point despite the game being fun, i still dont get why they put shitty gay emogay music in a fricking racing game like what car autist or even normal human being since this is indeed a arcade racer would willingly listen to homosexuals pretending they are so sad and depressed, shame the real OST is only in the profile creation screen
Of all time, really.
Nah, but I don't want to elaborate and get shat on.
*blocks ur path*
>3 tracks
lmao
bump
i rented this game so many times i ended up buying it
I will say this is the reason I wanted to get a PS2 because it was skipping the GameCube.
Wrong image, op

The worst post on Ganker I've ever seen. And I've seen a lot.

came here to post this
Daytona is the greatest arcade racer of all time, and I don’t give a shit what you say
Daytona's not even better than Sega Rally 1 and 2, let alone Scud Racing. Get lost.
Sega Rally is great but Daytona is better overall especially with its drift mechanics.
You shitting me? Daytona's drifting sucks ass.
Daytona has good soundtrack
>3 songs
Anyone else played this on OG xbox live? Miss it.

Yellowcard is good and the 2000s was the last decade where any decent rock music was made
>straight forward to pick up and play
>one (1) gimmick that "makes" the game
>contagious soundtrack
>looks mesmerizing in motion
Yes, yes you are.

not really
it's no F-zero gx that's for sure
>it's no GX
Thank god.
It's Trackmania.
the only good answer

no real competition, dead genre
Plenty of competition, genre didn't die until Split/Second.
