It's literally a non-issue if you're not a fricking moron with the memory span of a goldfish. It's kindergarten level tracing. These are the same people that cry about Circle being bad because you can't run for 2 minutes.
Unless you have a guide by the side with the saved pic of the drawing to end the boss, you probably will redo the last 1/3 of health of bosses multiple times
and the drawings get more complicated as you go.

How does Bloodstained compare to Castlemania for you people? I've been trying it out and it really feels like the love child of Symphony with the soul system thrown in. Main flaw I'm finding is that it's a bit ugly aesthetically.
I really enjoy Bloodstained, the lore especially. It's clear IGA has a lot of passion for the games and the future of the franchise as a Castlevania successor. I will say however, I'm not a BIG fan of the Aria-esque gameplay, I greatly prefer sub-weapons to souls. The 2D platformers are excellent too.
This is the most underrated castlevania ever, it has a fantastic castle design, great music, a system that was never used again.
It desperately begs for an HD remake, as long as it isn't in 2.5d
My man. But HD remakes love to take the soul out of old games, especially when it comes to remaking the music.
I hated it. Bloodstained had no reason to be such a mediocre game despite getting huge funding. The gameplay is the only thing it has going for it, every other aspect of it is shit and could have been way better.

Compared to Castlevania, Bloodstained is basically Aria. All three Bloodstained games are really good and on par with the Castlevania games it took inspiration from.
Aria's soul system made grinding mooks much more rewarding, since they had more freedom in what they could give you. While I enjoyed how SotN had secret special attacks for some weapons, which was neat, the souls just open up another dimension.

After the GBA games, go to either Symphony of the Night or the DS games.
2D games in general are trivial to emulate so I'd go that route, though the DS ones are a little anti-comfy if you're not playing them on an actual DS for obvious reasons.

Or just play the PSP version like this guy said
You can emulate the remake in the PSP emulator and use a code to unlock the original Rondo of Blood
also, man, if you're playing 3 and haven't played IV, Bloodlines, and the SNES rondo, (it's a different game) you can play them before rondo
I'd say playing the PCE engine version is better than PSP if you want the original graphics.
Just follow this guide and then emulate using Mednafen
Or just play the PSP version, with newer graphics if you want, but the pixel art is great
CotM is pretty different from the proper Igavanias (not sure if it counts as one since he didn't make it) as it's more stiff and has more focus on difficulty than most. It's kind of weird and probably worth playing just to see a different take on the formula. HoD is not generally considered that interesting but it's a solid enough entry that's at least worth a play if you like these games. Nothing about it really stands out but I liked it tbh.
CotM is awesome, but the first playthrough of it not so much. The main spell gimmick is needlessly cryptic and obtuse. After beating the game you unlock an extra mode where the spells are all unlocked from the start and it's super fun. Definitely not a long game by any means.
Last one I played was Order of Ecclesia, was pretty hyped for the waifu, played in Hard Mode (downloaded a save from the internet) because I was already expecting those games to be on the easier side and I wanted extra challenge, I have to say I wish there was a better middle-point between the Normal and Hard modes in the DS games, I had fun but shit could get brutal.
I like Souls-type systems because you're always unlocking fun stuff on a moment to moment basis.
It feels rewarding to engage with enemies because you can get something truly unique from them, sure, weapons and equipment drops also are like that, but Souls really change how you engage with enemies and they come at a much faster pace than games with only sub-weapons.
I would recommend HoD > AoS > CotM.
Or alternatively AoS > CotM
CotM kinda hits a middle-point between Classic and Metroidvania, it has simpler graphics but it's kinda hard too, it can also be easy to go the entire game without getting lucky with some Card drops which can make the difficult unfair at some bosses.
Fun game but it's better kept as the last one.
Not huge on Harmony of Dissonance but I like that it attempted to be more like Symphony of the Night, if you like the core then there's still fun to be had here, but I found the two castles have a very confusing layout, the music isn't good with the exception of just like 3 tracks and the way to get true ending is even more obscure than usual.
I think the most amusing part is that it's pretty much a direct sequel to Castlevania 2 (NES) and both games share the confusing map aspect.
Aria is definitively the highlight of the package, more polished than the other two games, not harder than CotM but there's a lot more going for it, if HoD *tried* to be more like SotN then AoS is a very honorable attempt, especially for a fricking Game Boy Advance game.
Maybe start with HoD and if you aren't feeling it skip to AoS.
thanks, anon. I have already finished Castlevania Bloodlines on genesis min, and have played a lot of SotN but the shitty Xbox 360 port where the combos/skill moves wouldnt register so I dropped it.

Or just play the PSP version, with newer graphics if you want, but the pixel art is great
sell me on gba games (except AoS, already know it's fun)
currently playing OoE, so CotM and HoD are the only Igavanias left
Last one I played was Order of Ecclesia, was pretty hyped for the waifu, played in Hard Mode (downloaded a save from the internet) because I was already expecting those games to be on the easier side and I wanted extra challenge, I have to say I wish there was a better middle-point between the Normal and Hard modes in the DS games, I had fun but shit could get brutal.
does the bleeding statue do anything in portrait
Quest for the Holy Water subweapon, Ithink
what makes her drop the tear again
I like Souls-type systems because you're always unlocking fun stuff on a moment to moment basis.
It feels rewarding to engage with enemies because you can get something truly unique from them, sure, weapons and equipment drops also are like that, but Souls really change how you engage with enemies and they come at a much faster pace than games with only sub-weapons.
What order do I play the Advance Collection, bros? it's currently 30% off on steam
I have already finished Castlevania Bloodlines on genesis min, and have played a lot of SotN but the shitty Xbox 360 port where the combos/skill moves wouldnt register so I dropped it.
both HoD and CotM are garbage (especially HoD) and I'm unironically not sure if people in this thread are trolling or not
Horrible visuals unless you use customize image adjustments on RA or something, but on a real CRT, heh.
