For dualshock stuff anyway. In this case getting an original controller isn't an option sadly, nor a PS2 one

PS3 or PS4 or PS5
or the Logitech F710
PS3 controllers are pretty hard to find nowadays and they've already said they didn't want a PS4 or 5 one.
That Logitech controller might be a good option though I'll look into that.
I would if they weren't so hard to find nowadays honestly.
the logitech's dpad is ass
those best controllers to play this game, hands down. also game supports analog controls so it's match made in heaven
Did you get a 250k score?
>Logitech F710
I know what you're doing.
>Three weeks ago, the cargo ship "Carried Away" sank in the deep waters of the North Atlantic.
fantastic game in retrospect. if you playing on emulator you get superior experience because in-game analog controls are reversed where left stick is looking and right stick is movement, on emulator you can just swap them, and it's basically 7th gen FPS now if you find firing to L2 and R2
>Logitech F710
>check Amazon reviews
>only one shitpost review
Then why not a PS3 controller?
I just use a DS4 wired, because bluetooth is garbage.
After looking a bit more into this I might go with the F310 actually. Mostly because I don't really trust wireless peripherals.
No rumble is a con but otherwise it's all good. Thanks guys.
I guess this thread can stay up as Playstation emulation controller discussion.
Dpad on those is horrible. And I presume you will use a dpad a lot for ps1 stuff.
Just get a dualshock2 and one of those usb adadpter dongles. It works well. Plus you can use it with modern vidya too with x360ce emulator.
To be fair the dpad on playstation controllers is also kinda shit
odds are the dpad on that logimeme controller is actually better
The travel time on the face buttons are stupid high too.
>the dpad on playstation controllers is also kinda shit
Ah, you're moronic. Sorry for not noticing right away.
ignore these homosexuals, the dpad is the best part of that controller
>ps dpad is shit
because of nintendo's absurd copyright it'll never be as ideal as the snes pad, it's still basically better than everything outside of the sega ballbearing tree.
DS3 is the way to go. Anything later doesn't have pressure-sensitive buttons. Also it'll see you alright for PCSX2 which supports well it via DsHidMini.
Or you can get the Raphnet PS1/PS2 controller adapter, there's also the Retro Fighters Defender.
Any other option will not have pressure-sensitive buttons and might lack vibration, both of which I'd say are fairly essential for proper emulation.
>pressure-sensitive buttons
that doesn't really matter if you're playing PS1
>pressure-sensitive buttons
not many games used it outside of racing and metalgear.
DualShock 4 chads rise up
i use it for everything
>dualshock 4
Still easy and cheap to get a hold of one, is supported by every emulator without the need for third party drivers/apps, it even has analogue L2 and R2 buttons which makes it good for Gamecube emulation.
i don’t even own a ps4, i bought it originally for trackmania on pc. then it turned out it was just a damn good controller, and now gets used for switch, snes emulation, anything with controller support
Playing through OoT with a DS4 feels so right
Using dual analog for camera control on the PC port?
patrician combo
I just use the ps classic usb controllers. they’re practically identical to the originals as far as I remember them
Beat me to it, probably the best option. Either this or
>ps classic usb controllers
those are great. I use them as well, and yes they're pretty much the same as the originals, with maybe somewhat newer assembly methods, i've compared both side by side.
Though they aren't dualshock, thats the one downside.
@OP, if you can get a PSOne dualshock off ebay and a USB adapter go for that instead. they should be still relatively cheap and easy to find.
Find a PS3 controller. The layout matches, you have pressure sensitivity if you ever want to do PS2/3 stuff, and these days with DsHidMini it's really easy to pair one with your PC and just make it werk.
It's not that hard to find an authentic one. If you want an easy way out just get a sixaxis controller, no one bootlegs those.
Is there any advantage(s) of a PS4 controller over PS3 (only in terms of emulation ofc) ?
Better availability. You can get a genuine one brand new at your local store.
If you're strictly going original, PS3 or PS2. Any renown third party controller will do otherwise.
Personally recommend either 8bitdo's pricier stuff (Pro2 or Ultimate) or Retro fighters controllers, specifically the ones with pressure sensitivity. Latter is neat if you have a PS3 since pressing the home button actually wakes it up.
Emulation sucks but if you have to the gamesir is ok and so is any other Bluetooth controller other than the 8bitdo
>in this case getting an original controller isn't an option sadly, nor a PS2 one
and why is that? Never heard of USB adaptors? You can get a chinese one for 5 bucks with a bit of inputlag that is remedied with runahead, or a more expensive raphnet one with no input lag
I started a controller recommendation thread last week and the janny deleted my thread.
>In this case getting an original controller isn't an option sadly
What? I'm literally using my old DS1 with some cheap adapter, I've found on the net
It works well enough. My only problem is that rumble on these doesn't work with Duckstation but it's a small price to pay
I've used this one
I have this controller and rate it. Obviously has triggers instead of buttons which can be annoying with PS2.
>In this case getting an original or PS2 controller isn't an option
Wow I'm sure that's true and not a stupid arbitrary restriction you added for (You)s on your low effort shitty spam
