Bad year huh?
Yahtzee only really likes short games because he's spread his life thin and rarely has time to actually complete the games he plays
>tfw you realise he's been doing this shtick for over 15 years now
I remember the first videos I watched from him were reviewing Far Cry 2 and RE5.
>Most universally acclaimed game of the year is just another Dragon Age entry with a new lick of paint
Was that even in question?
BG3 is almost nothing like Dragon's Age, dipshit.
AC6 was good at least, this year was better for games than 2022
I have not played any of those games.
amnesia the dark descent came out 16 years ago
Oops, it was meant to be Amnesia: The Bunker
>2. The Talos Principle 2
he is wrong
huge fan of talos games here but it was a downgrade from the first in virtually every way
I liked both.
Can't you be inferior to your predecessor and still be good ?
It's really not, don't be over-dramatic, it's different but it also improved on a lot of Talos 1 from puzzle design to world design to interaction with it.
Yes, on a whole the puzzles are easier but that's also because you already finished Talos 1. Play that game again and besides some really obscure star puzzles and most of Gehenna it's the same difficulty but with unfair elements like turrets and mines.
that list is the definition of insecure attention seeking "look bros my taste in videogames is so ENLIGHTENED"
The year of gato sexo
Hi-Fi Rush bros we won!
Give me the rundown on Shadows of Doubt? Is it any good? It looks fun.
it's in early access right now but it'll get better, and it's still really strong right now
I hate the graphical style, but the gameplay is really well designed. It's a very creative game that actually makes you think, and I don't mean that as a meme. Unironically one of the most original games in years.
However it's still in early access so I can't wholeheartedly recommend it.
It's fun but very buggy. Wait until it's out of EA.
it's a procgen immsim where you're a detective that has to solve murders. it's very well crafted and has a lot of care and attention to details, like if you don't shower enemies can smell you.
still buggy af but unless the devs aren't moronic the game is amazing already.
i love that you can start as a hobo and the fact your leads can be dead ends. you MUST keep track of things yourself
The main complain on the steam forums right now is that any gendered hint (like lipstick, high heels etc.) are completely useless since so many npcs are nonbinary.
There was a Hellboy game?
There was also a horrendous Jumanji and Avatar the Last Airbender game this year.
2023 was choke-full with shit.
Don't forget gollum and king Kong
And Walking Dead
I'd switch around MK1 and Starfield since MK1 wasn't aggressively bad like Starfield, but other than that it's a pretty decent list.
I guess he didn't review BG3?
He genuinely said that he wasn't going to put BG3 in the list because it got plenty of attention already, then went on another tirade against JK Rowling because he's a dipshit
>because he's a dipshit
It took a long time for him to properly cave, actually. But it usually works, and various troons and feminists are persistent and always assume that it does work.
What does JK Rowling have to do with video games?
Hogwarts Legacy is a videogame and thanks to mentally ill american the whole discussion about it center around JK Rowling not liking trannies
>Also, do people on Ganker really care enough about Rowling to defend her?
No, but I want his videogame opinion and not his libtard wanking, if I want to hear libtards I'd go to twitter
He didn't even go on a tirade, just joked about how for all the hubbub it got, the game didn't even have the decency to be either good or bad.
Also, do people on Ganker really care enough about Rowling to defend her?
the punchline is that she's exactly the kind of feminazi Ganker would've laughed at had she been involved in vidya back during gamergate.
don't forget her saying hermione was totally a nigress all along
he mentioned baldurs gate in the ranking video, and he reviewed it on his zero punctuation channel (he directly mentioned a game he reviewed in this ranking, being hellboy so that wasn't the reason)
ig he just didn't like it?
Honestly, I think its a case of "not really liking it, but knowing you'll get extreme backlash for saying that". You can practically hear it in his voice during some reviews.
Yeah because if there's anything Zero Punctuation is afraid of, it's disliking popular games.
He praised the idea of a singleplayer story-driven game getting attention, but claimed it already won GOTY and didn't need more spotlight.
My guess is that he simply considered it too long to give a full proper run-through. Same reason he never finished Elden Ring. He's still juggling games week to week on top of raising kids alongside his own game development and writing projects.
>He's still juggling games week to week on top of raising kids alongside his own game development and writing projects.
He really should just do like a really short indie game like 2 weeks in a row while playing a longer game because he really is reaching the point where it feels like he can't even properly review most games now because of this. I know skipping a week probably isn't an option in Youtube algorithm hell.
I imagine he already does that to an extent when he finds an indie or two he thinks is worth talking about. But if he already has a backlog of big AAA titles he's expected to cover he's probably stuck skimming through them rather than letting them pile up.
He said he didn't put BG3 on the list because it had already gotten enough attention. His review of it on ZP sounded fairly positive although even he was a bit weirded out by how goddamn horny everyone is.
He said he didn't include BG3 because it already won GOTY.

uhhhh baserino troonyrito department?
It's nice to see someone acknowledge Amnesia again. I thought The Bunker was easily their scariest title since the Dark Descent
Very safe contrarian choices, he's Ganker as frick
>FFXVI in blandest
Frick this stupid british gay
It was INCREDIBLY bland for the 95% of the game that isn't the big eikon battles.
>Dredge
is it good? screens look so pozzed and r*ddit.
It's one of those games with a really satisfying gameplay loop, but that whenever you finish an extended play session you feel like you just wasted every minute of your time playing.
Nothing meaningful with a lasting impact happens. Pointless gameplay loop game with some pretty art.
No, it's pretty bad.
Just drive around doing the same minigame over and over. It doesn't feel like a gameplay mechanic, it feels like that Skyrim lockpicking shit but slightly simpler and every 20 seconds.
I pretty much agree with this
Boring. Steal it if you want to see for yourself.
I thought it was decent, but it feels like a Diet Coke version of Sunless Sea.
So there's less emphasis on ever-changing port settlements and exploring a nightmarish culture, and more on fulfilling a series of fishing-based tasks where things get less comfy as fish get increasingly Lovecraftian.
Complete dogshit the only thing he got right was the worst games list and Starfield being also pretty bad
>1. Hi-Fi Rush
glad to see their paid shills are still working after launch shill
ultrakek
le schizo has arrived
never forgetting when the gays corralled up in their little dicksord hole melted down like actual robots because of the shadowdrop kek
What does that mean in english
>Company A slave hates game because it was made by Company B
mindbroken
Jedi Survivor was my favorite game this year. I loved every minute of it and thought it was a big improvement over Fallen Order. Feels good not worrying about scoring points with the cool kids.
Played it on PC so the tech issues hampered the experience for me, it's a shame.
>cool kids
>Yahtzee
Christ lad, have I got news for you
That said is it significantly different? I love Star Wars as a setting for games, it's literally the perfectt universe for it, plus I don't like the movies so don't give a shit about canon at all. But the first one was a drag. It had the right ideas bit completely wrong execution. I didn't like any single element basically
>and thought it was a big improvement over Fallen Order
In what aspects?
I liked the first game alright, but thought it was really brought down by the backtracking.
It's good but not great. Tech issues were annoying. But yeah I think yahtzee just has star wars fatigue in general so the recent games catch stray bullets.
>star war soulslike
>sound good
>try it out
>generic lara croft game but instead of shooting you club your enemies to death with glowing stick
Bland is very generous.
>no sign of Bomb Rush on any list ever
Was it bad? I'm buying it next week
Yahtzee actually brings it up in the credits.
It's good fun, just not GOTY material.
>good fun
That would make it a strong GOTY contender for me so far.
I love Yahtzee, they're my favourite TERF destroyer on the internet.
Hi Fi rush is overrated and Korsica's accent is terrible
but i heard Hogwarts Legacy is good, was that shills?
it's a bland open world game that makes ubisoft titles look creative in comparison, and it's full of homosexuals and nonwhites in rural old england - but some trannies don't like jk rowling so Ganker loved it
>best game
>no like a dragon gaiden
opinion entirely disregarded
That king Kong game is way worse than Forspoken and Mortal Kombat shouldn't be anywhere near that list
>Mortal Kombat shouldn't be anywhere near that list
Apparently the Switch version is a total shitshow.
Yahtzee has a bug up his ass about fighting games yet he keep playing them for some reason.
And he'll review CODs purely for their tacked-on singleplayer campaigns without touching the multiplayer
Like why fricking bother dude
best games list is certified reddit approved
His extra mentions, if anyone cares:
>American Arcadia: praises the visuals and story but didn't care for the gameplay
>Bomb Rush Cyberfunk: Fun gameplay and works as a throwback, but story was poorly conveyed and character animation was weak
>Spider-Man 2 and Tears of the Kingdom: Good games but lazy sequels
>Assassins Creed Mirage: Would've been on the blandest list if not for Avatar
Hate his anti Nintendo bias because he can't get over Smash fanboys yelling at him in 2008
look man you need to get some better intro/closing music.
>is he right
more or less I suppose. 2023 was pretty bad, wasn't it?
>thinks Jedi Survivor and FF16 were blander than Assassin's Creed which wasn't anywhere on the bland list
lol ok
