If it isn't Top Gun 2 (is it the best in the series?
And please no Outrun. Didn't like it, too much time where nothing happens, floaty controls and doesn't even feel that similar. Just getting this out of the way because some guy always spams Outrun

you mean 2D racers? try the Lotus series, it's one of my favourites
Top Gear 3000 and Junker's High (Outrun 2019 lol) are also really fun and fast
Well it's not car racing, but you might like Road Rash. The original game just turned 31 today. Personally I really like the SEGA CD version but the earlier games look fun too
I always forget about these games, I think I tried them briefly
>Road Rash CD soundtrack
Dinosaur vacume wanna take me hoooooooommmmmmeee
Yup. lotus 2 was much better
Lotus II is the best pseudo 3D driving game. It has the best road driving algorithm, the most coherent graphics, variety of scenarios and a really satisfying arcade feeling.
graphically superior to it's prequel, and one of the best scaling racers out there for sure, but the original Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge is a better game.
Fieldsoffire
Inabigcountry
yeah Lotus was awesome
>And please no Outrun. Didn't like it, too much time where nothing happens, floaty controls
Floaty Controls? And you like Top Gear? IMO Top Gear had terrible, floaty controls. Especially when compared to
Top Gear 2's controls are rather stiff
Top Gear 1
Lotus III: The Ultimate Challenge
Lamborghini: American Challenge (Crazy Cars 3)
>Top Gear 1
You think it's better than 2? Is there any consensus among fans what the best one is? Definitely liking 2, doesn't frick around and waste your time and plays well
Not him, but I like TG1 because 1) nostalgia value and 2) having the split screen using different cars will give you more variety in traffic rather than racing against the same car model in 2.
Outrun.
I wish these games had slipstream mechanics. Would fit so well
Rad Racer kind of sort of does — It's obviously not as pretty but the gameplay is still great.
t. OutRun 2 SP designer
Based outrun enjoyers. Especially outrun 2, wtf it's so good
>some guy always spams Outrun
its multiple people reccomending it because its a good game with a nice vibe, not "one guy spamming"
It's hard to imagine someone liking this kind of game but not liking Outrun.
>It's hard to imagine someone liking this kind of game but not liking Outrun.
Because OutRun games play and look like shit
>car steering by itself
>either too easy or car sprites updating in a completely erratic way and not enough view of the road ahead, making it a reaction minigame
>visuals way too clustered with an awful contrast in games like 2019 (gray cars on gray roads)
>offroad bullshit
>cars feeling like shit, breaking out too much or too wobbly and unrealistic in games like OutRun 2
>le typical Sega gimmick setting
>le me and my dakimakura
I know this is a Sega containment board but you really need to stfu with your overrated trash games sometimes
way too clustered with an awful contrast in games like 2019 (gray cars on gray roads)
Literally putrid
OutRun 2019 is sick as frick. Rock and jam to that shit every day/.
Lol
>No I have to react, AIIIIIIIEEEEEE
The answer is clearly Outrun let's not overthink this
Chase HQ
But only the arcade version. NES game sucked ass
Are you aware of the ZX Spectrum version, often considered one of the best games on the platform?
>considered one of the best games on the Speccy
Not exactly high praise
>(is it the best in the series
Yes, also the best in the genre if you're just looking for a plug and play arcadey game
Super Hang On for me
I wish the genesis version had decent fps. I'd rather play master system
Speaking of Spectrum, WEC Le Mans is a surprisingly fun racer for the computer. You are just driving in circles, but the driving action is very smooth. Commodore 64 version is an embarrassment in comparison.
Man. I hope folks start just asserting that this is a Sega board. It's so out of sync with reality, it's amazing.
Literally over half the threads on any given day are Zelda alone.
There are 2 (two) Zelda threads and both are made by a shitposter who doesn't like Zelda
Stupid homosexual janny
Out Run is the best you stupid frick, try Lotus Challenge 2 if you are so contrarian.
Ok, let's turn /vr/ into /sega/.
Since we are there, turn /vp/ into /nintendo/ and Ganker into /sony/.
Everybody is happy.
>Out Run is the best
It's unironically one of the worst
It's a tossup between Konami's WEC Le Mans 1985 and Capcom's Slipstream 1995.
>Slipstream but no slipstreaming
Definitely slipstream, that shit is intense
Rad Racer and Top Gear 2 are the best I played but I also liked Taito Grand Prix. It's very ambitious for its time, it's a carreer game where you earn money to upgrade your car and even buy new cars and there are a lot of courses. It takes some grinding however.
Rad Racer is dogshit Atari tier shit. And guy doesn't know how to drive.
Is Rad Racer better or worse than Pole Position II for Atari 7800?
Pole Position is awesome
For some reason my Retroarch doesn't let me play this. Tried both NTSC and PAL. NTSC version tells me to use the PAL version, PAL version just gets stuck 2 seconds in. Never had this happen with another game. Weird. Is this some 200 IQ antipiracy that was ahead of its time?
Use a real emulator
Agreed on Super Hang-On for Sega Genesis/Mega Drive. Great music and atmosphere.
One of the retroarch cores allows for overclocking which helps with the fps. But even without it’s absolutely playable.
This shit is unironically too hard. Also frick password systems
This IP has great music though
>Top Gun
Ask me how I know you are from Yurop...
How?
Segas board
