Could've been, but it was too expensive. The PSP was ambitious, but the Vita was too ambitious. Also those stupid expensive memory cards. At least the PSP had the excuse of those just being standard sony device cards.

this. it wasnt that terrible, my first card for the psp was a 1gb card that i had for my previous sony ericsson phone (it was more than enough, i didnt hack my psp for the first 3 months of having it, i played crisis core, gow and patapon). Later on i bought an 8gb card just for the psp when i hacked it

no it can't what are you talking about? Even if there is somehow an emulator for those there's no way they're even remotely functional or playable. Even the N64 emulator barely works.
I never said they are playable. But the mere existance of emulators that can almost run is impressive. Also it runs N64 games well what are you talking about,

It's recommended to disable sounds entirely to play 64 games btw. I think the big downside of the PSP is that it can't play Mario Tennis: Power Tennis normally. Otherwise emulation of older gens are fine.

Back in the day I would always put it to sleep instead of shutting it down as the homebrew enabler was temporary and had to use an unreliable crash method using some images.
I wonder if that helped keep the battery in god shape.
Mine is the 3000 model as well. I hear it's pretty good for emulation. I assume they sell third party batteries.

This is the same reason the Vita died out. Even back then it went for absurd amounts. Every person I knew had a PSP and only 1 had a Vita.

My Go battery still does 3:40 hours. not bad for something from 2010. I use it to play PS1 games mostly.

I've had the PSP since 2006 and the Vita is the better system overall. If the Vita didn't have the native PSP emulator built in I would say the PSP was slightly better though.
I must say though, having games, movies, music AND a decently usable web browser on a portable device in 2006, many years before smartphones became a thing, felt so futuristic. Didn't get to surf many websites though since Wi-Fi barely existed back then, and when I did find Wi-Fi I'd just play Flash games on it.
