>Dread was rumored for years and eventually written off as vaporware until E3 2021 >Other M killed the series for years >Federation Force seemingly spit on the grave >Prime 4's been a shitshow in development
You'd be mad too
Never thought about that, she's normally cool and calm.
If the devs intentionally made her be like that, it could be related to the adam shit from from the last game. I kinda like revenge samus, it feels sweet when you're really moving fast. And the controls let you go fast (Super still having the best controls because of its low gravity and how tat allows you to move).
But OP was right man, the art design was not really up to par. It felt like the world was like a jigsaw; independently made pieces that were cut to fit one another.
The game was fun overall though. Just got it back from a friend I lended it to a long while back. Maybe I'll give it a second go.
She met the last chozo in existence, and then one beat the shit out of her, put her in multiple life threatening situations, killed the only other and release a parasite that had threatened her life into the universe, then said “I didn’t raise you but I’m your dad and you have to do what I want or I’ll kill you, even though I’ve left you for dead multiple times already you should trust me”
"Gameplay" is too broad. The game has great controls relating to Samus' movement. But the map design, an inherent part of Metroid's quality as a game, is terrible. So are the EMMI segments, and the reused minibosses.
Metroid Dread's art direction is great. You 're just tasteless. It's got better art design than several other games in the series, like ZM, SR, OM, FF, Hunters...
>no actual argument and just resorting to buzzwords
Explain why you think the gameplay would be better being a slow clunkfest.
I have a feeling you'd have a hard time doing that though without sounding like an absolute subhuman, so I'll just assume your next response will be more coping spam.
One of my first consoles was an Atari 2600 kiddo >I totally did bro trust
Yeah nah, you're just a little derailing mongoloid and that's that it seems.
It is unfortunate, but it seems there's no future ahead of you so I think you need to start heavily considering suicide.
I hate how dull the colors/lighting looks or washed out it all looks. Plus all Nintendo Switch games have that plastic-like look to them with whatever engines they all use.
And no programmed Black personcattle, I don't belong to y group because I insulted x groups game. I enjoy older console games of all 3 main companies, just not most new shit.
>start this after its been in the works for 9 years or whatever >music is so repulsive i have to turn off the game in about 2 and a half minutes to get away from the music
The Dread power suit is legitimately one of Samus's best looks. Especially when you get the Gravity variant. Nintendo should change up her suit every game.
The first 2 games refined the design then it changed in Fusion and then Dread, Prime is the real outlier where it keeps coming back, and there's no other Metroid game that exists.
Obviously Super had it for the 3rd time but Super was really the first time the suit felt realized in game, then when it came ot Dread and Fusion it was dropped entirely. Prime reusing it even at the start, is a problem, but really the games problems are how shittily they weave into the Metroid storyline.
The art direction is excellent, what are you on about, even on a technical level it's excellent, except the noise for dust, maybe if it changed slower it would be great.
>music is so repulsive
Frick you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hHm0riM1Y7w&list=PL5VuxY9Jm95rEnJXqR7InUDNyOno9iPUc&index=10
that's not the music that plays on the first level, but it is completely unimpressive and similar to a fruity loops construction from some dude on the internet from 2002
>that's not the music that plays on the first level
I know, it's this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHhQkn1aFNc&list=PL5VuxY9Jm95rEnJXqR7InUDNyOno9iPUc&index=4
And it's still fricking great, beter than the SR version.
i notice more and more that zoomers have these ultra undeveloped opinions on stuff
>it isn't
Haha, except it is, the use of 3d is absolutely on point, as far as the choesiveness of the design it definitely works, it's 2.5d game but it's very easy to read the world around you and see where the floor is and the bounds of the rooms you are in, things like the hard black zones in unplayable space and the deep backgrounds are neat touches to an a visual style that is both detailed and functional.
The zones themselves are very distinct and there's a good conflict between the natrual elements and the unnatural elements.
The only thing I hate about the games visuals are that the save rooms are no longer like Fusion which I liked the way they looked, I liked the way that the save zone was elevated in the center and standing on it for a second or two activated it, feels way better than the just pads on the floor in Dread that activate in the same way.
>arguing >metroid game >visually uninteresting sterile spaceship backgrounds
not arguing doesn't mean conceding, you fricking buffoon.
holy shit, what a lesson some of you need to learn. you really feel this impetus to do this, yet you don't feel that way about any self-improvement, tellingly.
>it isn't

I think the world art design is kind of lackluster except for the Roman empire Chozo ruins, but the character art design for Samus, the Chozo, and the Emmi's are perfect
Game plays great but it's too linear for my taste and shit like 'missile block' or 'screw attack block' is just so jarring it breaks all immersion you'd ever hope to achieve
I feel like the completely black foreground was based on zero mission's 2D art style which used black shadows, but the way its done in dread looks so shit
Metroid is a sorta niche series but what i admire most is how many times it dug itself out of the grave
iirc even the very first game was in danger of not being made
Worse than Samus Returns? Lol okay
Worse.
You're right anon. Thought I was the only one who thought that
No Nintendo games are dark and edgy. Even if they were, prime 2 is much edgier.
why did they make samus so angry in this game
>Dread was rumored for years and eventually written off as vaporware until E3 2021
>Other M killed the series for years
>Federation Force seemingly spit on the grave
>Prime 4's been a shitshow in development
You'd be mad too
I really liked the colour palette and more sci-fi focused environments, I was tired of caves and le ancient ruins.
Dread puts an end to the Metroid story so it makes sense she'd go all out.
Never thought about that, she's normally cool and calm.

AAAAAAAAAA
She met the last chozo in existence, and then one beat the shit out of her, put her in multiple life threatening situations, killed the only other and release a parasite that had threatened her life into the universe, then said “I didn’t raise you but I’m your dad and you have to do what I want or I’ll kill you, even though I’ve left you for dead multiple times already you should trust me”
It wasn't her, it was the Metroid
>Worst metroid art direction
>when the suits are kino
>when the starter suit is fricking kino and even preferred over the upgrades
cmon
The suits were cool as frick. I think OP may have been suggesting the environment assets were not in line.
This. Hard, sharp edges everywhere makes even foliage look synthetic.
"Gameplay" is too broad. The game has great controls relating to Samus' movement. But the map design, an inherent part of Metroid's quality as a game, is terrible. So are the EMMI segments, and the reused minibosses.
Her hips are so freaking wide, dude.
Metroid Dread's art direction is great. You 're just tasteless. It's got better art design than several other games in the series, like ZM, SR, OM, FF, Hunters...
He probably played it on the shitch.
it looks great on YUZU. it's amazing how much worse it looks on console.
That capture is made on console anon... Looks fantastic on Switch
>hates switch
>desperate to emulate its games
the mind of the snoy is an enigma
this game sucked in every way, proving that zoomers can't evaluate things for quality
at this point, your opinion on video games isn't useful if you didn't play them through history
>tap right
>samus flies off at 900 mph
>THIS GAMEPLAY IS SO GOOD!!!!!!!!!!
>Why isn't it slow?!?!
Cope, autist.
>wtf why action game is fast
moron
Hey slow brain, why don't you go and play animal crossing? That sounds more up your speed.
bold nintendie defense squad

>explain gameplay to me, a person who never touched an 8, 16, or 32-bit video game system physically in its actual lifetime
no thanks, did it plenty when this game was new and not already-forgotten.
>no argument
>can't source old post from archive
skill issue

lmaooooooo attributing this much importance to urself
yah im such a tendie my last 2 nintendo products owned are switch and n64
responsiveness is not related to movement speed
One of my first consoles was an Atari 2600 kiddo
>I totally did bro trust
Yeah nah, you're just a little derailing mongoloid and that's that it seems.
It is unfortunate, but it seems there's no future ahead of you so I think you need to start heavily considering suicide.
>Brap
Never had a nintendo console kys moron
I'm 39.
I suppose you're young at heart
I have a bicuspid aortic valve. My heart is decades older than me in terms of functionality.
>game has responsive controls, so it's bad
???
genuinely baffled by this post
t. old man who can't enjoy it because of his shit reflexes

Dread looks soulless as frick.
Play the better game.
>start this after its been in the works for 9 years or whatever
>music is so repulsive i have to turn off the game in about 2 and a half minutes to get away from the music
lol, it's funny when people can't judge quality
Seething tendie.

The first 2 games refined the design then it changed in Fusion and then Dread, Prime is the real outlier where it keeps coming back, and there's no other Metroid game that exists.
Prime 2 and 3 had some wild suit designs, you just merely start with the basic Varia.
Obviously Super had it for the 3rd time but Super was really the first time the suit felt realized in game, then when it came ot Dread and Fusion it was dropped entirely. Prime reusing it even at the start, is a problem, but really the games problems are how shittily they weave into the Metroid storyline.

you lost the plot
>dude just concede to someone that doesn't have a point and is a total contrarian homosexual at best
not arguing doesn't mean conceding, you fricking buffoon.
holy shit, what a lesson some of you need to learn. you really feel this impetus to do this, yet you don't feel that way about any self-improvement, tellingly.
Cool story bro.

But Dread's designs is less angular than the designs of past games. Ignoring the Prime games that were very spherical.
I don’t mind the art direction but the music was a big letdown.
Game plays great but it's too linear for my taste and shit like 'missile block' or 'screw attack block' is just so jarring it breaks all immersion you'd ever hope to achieve

Did modders ever do anything interesting with mods?
Didn't Mercury literally leave the entire games values in a text file?
Raven Beak is the 2nd best Nintendo villain behind Sephiran
who?
Sephiran.
If Samus was my wife, she would be Metroid Bred
No. Even if you married pixels you can't breed with them.
Worst art direction in the series would be Other M or Federation Force, which also happen to be the two worst Metroid games in general.
Metroid is a sorta niche series but what i admire most is how many times it dug itself out of the grave
iirc even the very first game was in danger of not being made
he's right you know
