I don't think they even know the mod exists, or was about to release. The TV show has made the playercounts for all fallout games shoot up on steam, and maybe they thought that now's a good time to release a patch. Looking at some of these changes, they've probably been in the barrel for quite some time. There's likely not gonna be a better window for releasing this patch for quite some time.
