In general I liked it but I have issues with it.
The good: I thought the story was interesting and the characters too. I liked the maps and the boss design was cool. Plenty of weapons too.
The bad: The combat has issues. For starters, idk what it is but I found myself low on stamina and it's very hard to get it back during bosses. 2 reasons for this, the bosses seem to have no downtime between attacks, they are constantly on the offensive, let's say they just did a long combo, less than a second later they start a new one. Second, my stamina regen is so fricking slow. It's insane how slow it is, I have more then 20 of the stamina stat, using the stamina regen amulet, and it still takes ages for my stamina to regen. It's way too slow to refill.
Also on the bosses, some mechanics are sorta bullshit.the enemy attacks track you in a ridiculous fashion. This is not even close to the most outrageous example of this but it shows how it is. The game lacks hyper armour on almost everything you do which is a giant feel bad when you could stagger the enemy and simply can't pull off an heavy attack due to my negative point 1 and the lack of hyper.
Enemy variety while decent, I think most areas have the same enemies. For example the standard enemy puppet enemy I think it's present in 90% of the chapters. With more hp sure, but a lot of the same enemies are in all levels or some variation of that enemy. Which leads to 2 things, sure chapter enemies are varied but it's varied by including the same shit in all of them for the most part

Your first and second point can be made clearer when you understand there are upgrades to enhance all of those things. You get more stamina regren from perks, you can even deplete less stamina for charged attacks specifically as well as give yourself damage resistance while charging which serves as minimal hyper armor.
Why does combat feel off? Because they're dangling upgrades in your face to make you earn feeling great in combat.

Enemies need some form of telegraphing to make parry fair. Its pretty bullshit as it is right now. I dont mind the window being small, i can git gud, but only if there's an actual visual cue to go off of and not having to get hit with an attack so much that i learn the move by time instead.

anyone else soulslop games would focus more on the levels leading up tot he bosses and not the bosses? i enjoythe challenging sections of missions a lot more than the bosses.
Boss should look over you attempting to get to him from some high-up arena, taunt and laught at you for dying (also remembering your past deaths), but once you get to them they should start sweating and go "oooofrickshitshit, hold on now, let's not do anything hasty here" and turn out to be complete wimps
The problem is they keep designing themselves into a corner when it comes to trash encounters by making the player character too powerful by the end of the game. EVERY single soulslike eventually gives the player far too much healing/recovery to the point where it's extremely difficult to challenge the player via attrition. So by the end of the game trash enemies ultimately need to turn into bullshit mini-bosses with endless hyperarmour who can threaten to kill the player before they can heal, or elaborate gank setups like Anor Londo Archer/Rafters.
The kind of encounters you run into near the start of the game which usually involve pulls of several enemies which stagger in one hit and die in 2-3 hits are lots of fun to play and make the best use of the Soulslike combat system. Weapon movesets matter because you can interrupt enemies by hitting them first and can fight groups by staggering multiple targets with wide sweeps, spacing and timing help you fight more than one enemy at once while trying to focus on not taking any chip damage or running out of stamina. This works at the start of the game because you only have 2-3 Estus, low stamina and no regen, so every stray hit from a hollow is meaningful and you want to avoid taking any damage. The same solid gameplay can't work when you have 10 Estus and lots of stamina and can trade through hits with hyperarmour, because then you don't have to be careful and can just brute force the encounters.
The way to make the levels leading up to the bosses better is to keep the group pulls of staggerable enemies and stop giving the player 10-20 healing items.

It's not a lie, puppets can't fall in love. The gist of the game is that the beings with awakened souls are becoming more than just puppets. Technically Ergo Is People and it's the condensed peoplesouls which are enabling the human like behaviour. If you take the Ergo away it's just a machine.
What's cool about this sidequest is WAY later near the very end of the game you can meet a puppet that was a test subject for the Alchemists and you can talk to him in the Abbey, he'll end up near the Opera House later by where that guy's puppet wife is. He mentions that he saw words written by her corpse, and if you go back to her body, it's now fallen down and you can read the writing she left on the wall: "I love you, Juilan."
It's neat because when that sidequest is first brought up, it's still questionable just "how" human a puppet can be, but by the end where you can go back to see this, it's evidently clear from other evidence that puppets can become human. Frankly if anything was done well in this game it was the NPC stories and the MC, both were really well done and I loved how the MC becoming more human adjusted his appearance and some other little things (like how listening to records gives you humanity and how the cat eventually warms up to you and lets you hold it, or getting better at the piano and performing on it after the ending.. The NPCs also feel more active and personable and I was excited to talk to them (my favorites were Venigni and the King of Riddles so it was fricking cool to see them end up being very related to each other) and make connections to other characters (Sophia's name pops up in the lore quite a bit more than you would expect and the White Lady miniboss is a lot cooler with their backstory knowledge, for example). For all of the flaws this game has, it was good at getting me invested in the setting and characters, because while Krat's fricked the world isn't ending so you still feel like you're making a real difference even if a lot of the NPCs end up dead, it's about lying to them and letting them die happy and becoming more human because of it

Just beat the archbishop. Wasn't insanely difficult, but I never did perfect guard his ass drop even once. Oh well, he takes plenty of damage from slashing weapons and fire. Putting my saber blade on the baton handle gave me a really fast charged heavy attack.

Also Replicant sentient didn't amount to shit because replicants behaved 100 percent like their intended vessels so that whole issue replicants losing their identity to merge with shades was a non issue in the first place. Here the so called technological step is done intentionally, and would have worked out with no real problems if not for Gepetto.

He tries to tell you about it nonverbally too via the cutscene beforehand with the puppet performance of "Gepetto" taking "P"'s heart and putting it into the King. He's literally showing you exactly what Gepetto is planning to do with you and the Nameless Puppet.

Adelina only became the popular one after she poisoned her sister and ruined her voice (which is why Patricia became the White Lady, she couldn't sing anymore, and also why you see Adelina's name everywhere but Patricia's name almost never comes up; Patricia's not a star anymore and was just left to be forgotten)
no there was no switch, basically what anon summarized is that Adelina and her sister were both really talented singers but her sister was seen as better, so in order to give her self an edge up on her sister, Adelina poisoned her and ruined her singing voice. Then fast foward to later, Karma bites Adelina in the ass and she gets the petrification disease and her sister who never knew what Adelina had done to her, starts showing Adelina a whole lot of sympathy and pity now that her career is coming to a close thanks to this.
There's a correction I should probably make regarding the pendants; the fricked up one is the one Adelina has depicting Patricia, while the one Patricia has showing Adelina is fine.
So, what the lockets show isn't that Patricia realized it was Adelina that did it. That doesn't make sense since her fight has her thinking that Adelina was killed by puppets, so she did still love her dearly. Adelina fricked up her pendant of Patricia out of jealousy and anger, and then never reached out to her sister after the Frenzy. Patricia assumes she's dead and looks for her, getting killed by P before she can ever find out the truth regarding Adelina.
So just as a clarification, getting the "Free from the Puppet String" ending requires the same steps as the "Rise of P" ending, while only getting as little humanity as possible?

It's funny that seeing Geppetto for the first time doesn't seem to actually trigger any sort of memory for P like how the necklace/Romeo does.
Geppetto really fricked up with Carlo, it would be ironic if the reason why Carlo's memories never really awoke in P properly was simply because Carlo was somehow defying his father from beyond the grave and not giving his father the satisfaction of succeeding in his crazy plan, as revenge for being a shitty dad that only seemed to care about him in death.
I think what happened is that Gepetto was going to control P the same way he did the Nameless Puppet (the glove thing) but Sophia got to P first since she wanted P to kill her and Gepetto had to work around it. He mentions that he finds P's behavior to be unpredictable, and Sophia didn't give two shits about Krat and just wanted to die, she only started caring about it after P starts caring about the people around him and becoming human.
In fact I think it's very intentional that P never really awakens to Carlos' memories, because the point is that P ends up being a different entity than what Carlos was. You can see it in a lot of NPCs like Antonia who knows that while they look like Carlos, it's ultimately not the same person and she thanks him as just "the boy who resembles Carlos".

I wouldn’t say better. I think it does a fantastic Job of iterating on the Souls formula which is really all I ask for. It’s damn good game and it’s sad that allot of people will pass it up because of LE BLOODBORNE REFERENCE. It’s really its own thing and tells a more coherent story.

Dex. If you want a heavy hitter you can still slap a big blade on a Technique handle, but if you want a fast hitting Motivity weapon you're (mostly) out of luck.

Basic is replacing xbox live and has about 20 games, regular is the whole xbox library, ultimate is xbox plus PC plus cloud, so on PC you can play all the xbox titles plus the PC exclusives.

I was really struggling with the eldest of the black rabbits, but then I realized I could just firebuff my great pipe wrench and then wombo combo him with Charged attack > visceral >3x fable attack >+fire and I killed him without him being able to react or his brothers being able to help at all lol.
I only just found the big pipe wrench but upgraded to +3 right away and just 1 hit kill everything. It seems so overpowered
its really damn slow which is the tradeoff and makes a lot of bosses kind of hard in that regard. make sure to give it a motivity handle too so it will scale A with motivity and you're all set to unga bunga your enemies. the fable art with it is really good. you can fire it off pretty fast and its great at stunning
Yeah I've popped it on the upgraded police baton handle and it's absolutely fine for mobs so far. Prior I was using the axe and I think it's the same speed ish

The Puppet Axe in the Barren Swamp. Slap it on the Police Baton handle and you have a super fast and hard hitting weapon with a fast charge attack and high block rate.
It honestly trivializes the game somewhat.
