yeah it's on sale too, only 2 bucks
steam has a couple of sea dogs games but not 2, maybe because it was published by bethesda in some places under the name pirates of the Caribbean
looks like sea dogs dev are releasing remasters of the old games under different names on steam now, not sure if any of them are actually sea dogs 2 but there is a free "sandbox" mode for the most recent https://store.steampowered.com/app/1782680/Caribbean_Legend_Sandbox/
some people can't handle the russian jank so try that out first
Holy shit, what game is this?! IS this what Sid Meir's Pirates is?
I remember playing this game as a kid on my grandfather's computer, and I had heard the name before but assumed there was no way a game that popular was the one from my memory. I resigned myself to thinking it was just some random flash game I'd never find again.
Damn, that also looks like it.
I remember the crew you had and hired was a very important aspect of the game. I'll have to do more research into both of these
Yeah mine was called Tortuga Pirates of the New World too but it seems like the game has like 4 different names and it was a b***h to find because there's a recent game called Tortuga which was filling the google results
In spite of all being developed independently, most of the early pirate games all converged on the same basic formula down to sharing UI layout. Uncharted Waters is another built to similar conventions.
It makes Skull and Bones gaygier for omitting half of the genera's staples.
What's a good one of these games with fun naval combat that has a single player campaign? Something where you have to worry about the wind, at least a semi realistic damage model etc.
I was disappointed in Port Royale 2. I fricking loved everything but the combat was so bad it ruined my will to play, I wish you could have automated it I wanted nothing to do with it, I just wanted a comfy trading game
That said, should I try Pirates? What does it play like?
It's honestly fricking astonishing to me how few good pirate games there are. Or how few pirate games there are in general. It's a theme that feels ripe for being gamified and yet there aren't many at all, and even fewer good ones.
This game is glorious, it has very few details or "bad" things, one of them is the swords combat and the menu on the numpad... even so, the game is SO good that at the end, it doesn't matter
this game is so fricking good, is it on steam?
for me it's sea dogs 2

wow, looks really impressive!.
I still wonder how a company with that much money as Ubisoft can't make a decent pirate game nowadays.
Which nation should I pick?
old gem is da best
Home.
of course, sid meier games were great before civ6

I had this as a kid and I always thought it was a rip off of Sid Meier's Pirates but it turns out it came before Pirates
Damn, that also looks like it.

I had this but it was called "Tortuga: Pirates of the New World" here for some reason. I spent a lot of time with it, very comfy game.

Was that the game where you could take 40 years to save your family and they haven't aged a day?
I was disappointed in Port Royale 2. I fricking loved everything but the combat was so bad it ruined my will to play, I wish you could have automated it I wanted nothing to do with it, I just wanted a comfy trading game

Why was this great game never expanded in a follow-up?
If you ever used the rapier you didn't beat the game.
I got my shit pushed in with other swords... cutlass always looked like the coolest sword possible in this setting but its so fricking slow
kino osundtrack
I played this game so many time but I never managed to save the entire family, is it even possible?

i was never able to find all family members and retire as a governer before the time runs out
For a second I thought this was a Mount & Blade mod due to the graphical style.
That's not sea of thieves
>Numpad controls
What were they thinking?
This game is glorious, it has very few details or "bad" things, one of them is the swords combat and the menu on the numpad... even so, the game is SO good that at the end, it doesn't matter
Ok ancient marketer from 2004, but really, they couldn't update the game at all with a PROPER control system?
I have to use the numpad?
TKL tumblrinas btfo
The numpad controls work really well
Git gud

No, that's the 1987 game from MicroProse.
