you going to horizontally progress you fat frick?
>best mmorpg
>uses image of the thing that killed said mmorpg
It's still a pretty low bar, I suppose. But come on OP.
so true, skillcapes were the beginning of the end
just use ironman mode dumbass
OSRS was fine until they turned it into bossingscape. The entire fricking point of the game is to have a billion meme skills with different purposes, but they then invalidate all of that by making bosses drop one trillion oak logs, one bazillion rune essences, 1000 rune ore and 50k cooked sharks for no apparent reason.
>for no apparent reason
Its an alternative to skilling
How much more obvious could it possibly be
>skilling makes money
>lots of players find skilling mind numbing
>bosses drop resources
>money gained with no time sunk into skilling
Use your brain please
"Alternative"?
Through bossing you can get more skilling supplies than doing the skill itself. Not only that but you're getting skilling supplies of several skills simultaneously. It's, like, DOZENS of times more efficient, thus turning skilling into dead content that you grind to get access to a diary.
Imagine being born fat, autistic AND, to top it all off, unfunny
Kys
Hey im not the gay who actually payed for a pass
Lmao
>vnr
Then why even have skilling? It's just pointless bloat when you get more resources from combat. At least RS3 tried to solve this problem by giving special drops/creations to skilling that cannot ever be obtained through combat (or at least that's what I've heard it did, RS3 otherwise sucks so I'll never find out if it's true).
Didnt read lol
GE was a great addition and I'm tired of contrarians crying NEW THING BAD
Ironman is the only fun way to play though
>needs a helmet to prove how moronic he is
Alternatively has some self fricking control
It literally just turned what used to be a varied MMO into "Kill the most profitable thing forever, then pay for the fast skilling methods and good gear". There used to be an opportunity cost for selling things. So it was generally better to grind out your relevant drops yourself, semi ironman style, rather than just sit there grinding zulrah for 10k kc, and having to sit there selling the millions of herb, ore and fish it dropped.
GE killed Runescape, the game would be dead by now if it didn't have ironman mode.
I've literally never played Runescape past the tutorial and I still get kinda nostalgic seeing screenshots of it, makes me wish I played it during its prime. Then again, maybe I'm better off never having touched it
Anon the prime is now. Join us.
runescape sucks because to do all the quests/achievement diaries you're expected to max every single skill
I stopped playing Runescape in like 2008 and GE was definitely a contributing factor. I also remember not liking the ditch they added to get into the wildy so you couldn't just lure dumb fricks out there.
that's not The Matrix Online
You now remember that The Matrix Online was a thing
What killed it? Sony?
The lack of death mechanics made this game turn into an audience of subhuman third world filth.
Austistically grind boring content for 1/4th of minimum wage is your reward for spending thousands of hours on character progression.
im enjoying going through my first time pretty much blind (i use a guide to look up what i need to bring for a quest but do everything else blind) theres plenty i wish i did differently like doing the waterfall quest early or doing the varrock musem quiz for a free 1k in slayer and hunter, but thats all stuff ill do if i ironman for now im leveling ineffecient and having fun
Runescape was only good when it had a focus on fantasy and adventure and there was a new quest to do like every other week.
It was always grindy without much to do apart from PVP and farm monsters, but now that both the devs and the players only focus on bossing, autism grinds, and turning every skill into a minigame, it's not even the same game anymore, and literally any other MMO is better for that.
Started to suck when The GE was released. It was great buying and scamming stuff in Camelot or fally park. Also it started only being about releasing content for highlvls. In addition, There was also many areas that hadn't been touched since 2003 like 'the gnome battle field' and the 'observatory'
What's that got to do with The Matrix Online?
>players can strike each other for 100 damage in pvp
Horizontal progression my fricking ass
This game is power crept to hell and back
If the pvp meta isn't "eating above 60 is a safe", I don't want to play.
The idea that OSRS ever had good balance or progression is just laughable. How fricking long did it take them to nerf the memepipe again?
There's no reason to start playing RuneScape today when Albion Online exists. It's better at pretty much everything.
List 5 great albion online pvp videomakers.
i absolutely fricking hate AO controls and camera

It's awesome to be able to find a community that validates me for who I am.
how hard is it to kill jad and get the fire cap? last thing i did was get my attk/def/ranged up to 85 so i could do it but stopped playing
85 is overkill to just kill jad
Anon are you for real? 85 is hilariously above what you need to kill jad, also I have no idea why you trained attack since you're not supposed to use melee in the fight caves.
>how hard is it
Well with your stats, assuming you have a blowpipe, the waves will be super easy. Jad will probably kill you a couple of times though, that's normal. You can simulate the fight online (just type "jad simulator") but obviously the simulation does not account for the real experience.
It took me 8 attempts to kill jad, that's about how much it takes for most people, you can do these 8 attempts in one single day or more likely two to avoid burnout
i was following some click along wiki guide, i remember killing mud crabs on some island for a long ass time
All that matters for jad is ranged level. You can easily kill him, just get a blowpipe.
With that said I don't think killing jad will bring much progress to your account. You should work on the quest cape, which means getting all your skills to base 70s.
i just wanted it cuz it looked cool
a year at least i think
>that agility icon
How old is this screen shot?
They should release alternative ironman mode called "rogueman" where you can only trade with other roguemans, and roguemans can't access the GE.
That way everyone can get what they want. Roguemans will have their own economy that doesn't involve GE.
Just what the game needs, another meme restriction account
Might as well officially launch onetilemans too
>Just what the game needs
Unironically yes. Why are you so obsessed with forcing everyone to play the way you play? Are you so insecure about your love for GE?
>why are you upset that they obsoleted half of the game and turned skilling into a by product of combat?
Because he's a skiller. You guys call him stupid but refuse to see his side of the argument.
Are there any other MMOs with a soundtrack as good as Runescapes?

Take me back bros, better times, happier times
It used to be, but 2023 was the worst year in OSRS's history and the community has become too insufferable to engage with. The game's still fun but the sheer amount of autistic NEET's complaining about stuff like forestry xp rates whilst they gladly do catacombs slayer/gotr is embarrasing. Watching over 2000 people break the world by hopping just to get 30k xp/hr at shooting stars is just sad. PvM'ing is still fun with friends but I've never played an MMO where i've just looked down upon most other players until OSRS this year
OSRS gays actually think the lack of updates are good too, thats the worst parts
It's 2023 and you still care so much about other players?
Well anon fight cave deaths are safe so don't be afraid to try. Do you have money?
>and you still care so much about other players?
Black person it's a fricking MMO
prolly a couple mil, iron man mode looks cool too i may resub and try it out
Watching everyone vote yes for every single poll is insane. Sailing is a meme that is going to be agility on the water at best. More players are jumping from RS3 to OSRS and will bring their shitty opinions with them. Its fricking over in like a year or two.
>players are jumping from RS3 to OSRS and will bring their shitty opinions with them
I'd welcome RS3 Smithing changes any day.
Frick off, not old school
I don't give a shit about your nostalgia goggles, I just want the best version of Runescape and RS3 smithing is objectively better than OSRS smithing.
>I don't care about your nostalgia goggles
>in the nostalgia game
You are what will kill OSRS and let jagex ruin it more than the already have
Most people don't play OSRS because of nostalgia goggles, they play it because it's currently the overall better version of Runescape.
Then we agree not to make it more like the worse version
Yes. We should make it better instead, by taking only the good ideas from RS3.
Go play RS3 then. It's right there. I'm sure you came from there anyways.
Download more brain RAM so you can remember the discussion.
Just remember this when they start changing everything into RS3 tier garbage.
You were the one advocating for it
In fairness nu RS3 is just as bad. Necromancy just broke the game
I started playing OSRS during the pandemic.
Have to say, one of the best MMOs I've ever fricking played.
It's just really really fun, you're always constantly running to do stuff, lots of horizontal upgrades and objectives you set yourself to do, and old content is not depreceated by new content.
Just a really fricking good game, love it.
Wholesome post
>old content is not depreceated by new content.
It's depressing doing old content because I'm always alone since there's no reason to do anything but kill bosses.
angloids are bugmen tier for creating runescape
even gatcha garbage has more appeal than this
And of course troons are shilling this gay pride parade game on Ganker
It is fun admittedly if you have the specific type of autism that likes grinding. I played to the point where it was becoming a serious problem in my life. I think it might be the biggest time sink game ever made. If you play even slightly inefficiently it genuinely takes a decade to max an account. Unless you are trading items on the GE like theyre stocks or have a PKing clan, think about how long it would take to grind for a Twisted Bow or something. You can learn a programming language in that amount of time.
Everquest was the best mmorpg
It really isn't. Past a certain level, grouping or multiboxing is required, you cannot play the game solo
yeah it's a multiplayer game
And that's terrible, especially now that there's a playerbase of like, less than 1000 people, and if you want to somehow form a group, you'd have to join the Discord and try for days on end. The game's literally unplayable in current state. Maybe it was better back in the day
