Exactly, there's plenty of proc-gen algorithms they could have used to actually create content.
Instead they decided to randomly place pre-made structures, which just results in you seeing the exact same stuff over and over again with literally no variation.
With the whole multiverse hopping in the lore, they could've been procedurally generating entire factions, bases, dungeons, ships, alliance sets and such for each loop.
Imagine the PR boon if you could share dimensional seeds online and shit instead of there being a few fixed limited variations for NG+. Somebody would find some weird shit, some twitch-tok-tube e-celeb would paste the seed and onions at it for 1-60 minutes and they'd get a million more sales that week.
the NG+ has so much potential and the first time you do it in the game is one of the best moments in a Bethesda game. IT gives them so many possibilites and they just barely lean into it like it was a supposed to just be an easter egg when it could have been a central aspect of a larger game. What if the "main quest" to find the unity was like a red herring and only the START of the actual main campaign from the perspective of a starborn. maybe you could actually turn into the hunter and go hunt and fight down other potential starborns. Maybe there is an ultimate reality outside the unity loops. Maybe you can turn into the emissary and shut down the hunter and the artifact loops forever. Maybe there's an ending where you reset everything to before they discovered the first one and you find yourself on a peaceful alive earth that doesn't find the artifacts but is cut off from warp travel and space colonization. Maybe the final battle is you vs. the giga starborn trying to influence events in the past to make the unity. Maybe the unity is fricking evil. I say this all as someone who kinda likes the game overall but damn there is so much more they could do with the ng+ mechanic and it would be kino if they somehow did give us alternate dimensions/realities that had a deep story behind them instead of LOL SARAHS A PLANT NOW XD
it's not going to do anything
starfield being a loading screen simulator won't be fixed by anything but redoing the game from the ground up wich isn't happening
They've done literally nothing to improve the game in any way other than adding DLSS officially. Less than 5 months until its 1 year anniversary. It's a complete and total joke.
What did you expect from a Bethesda game? We have this convo every time they release something new, yet morons continue to buy it. Fallout and Skyrim are utter dogshit as well. The ideas and concepts are great, but the execution is laughably bad.
Hell yeah a Starfield x Fallout Series collab! BIG indeed! I can't wait for the game to break all mods that make the game barely enjoyable for a Barret cosplay pack as that Black from the show!!!
It's always the same >we have big news >news revealed, turn out underwhelming >ackhually your disappointment is your fault because you set your expectations too high
They could at least copy paste melee from skyrim
add in a few more "designed" buildings to be randomly thrown on planets and maybe tweak some of the skills.
>the one thing Bethesda is actually decent at is exploration >make space exploration game with awful exploration
It was over from the start. Game would have to be entirely remade to succeed. Just wait for Starfield 2 in 2035 to see if they get it right.
>2035
Heh, that's Fallout 5 territory buddy. Starfield 2 is very likely close to the 2040s. Even typing this out feels moronic, those mongoloids over there seriously need to have multiple teams doing one IP instead of one team doing one game at a time.
> those mongoloids over there seriously need to have multiple teams doing one IP instead of one team doing one game at a time.
this would be ideal but they wouldnt even let obsidian do a spin off tes game. thats too good of an idea for them to actually do. frick man, even bamco, capcom, sega and sqeenix do this but bethesda would hear that idea and look at you like youre speaking gibbersih
Probably just a mattet of pride. To thisday the general consensus is that Obsidian embarrassed Bethesda with New Vegas. Can't have that repeat again now can we? BGS is the main studio after all.
i can definitely see todd losing his shit if the elders scrolls 5.5 was better received than skyrim. todd doesnt seem like the type of guy who believes in a team effort which is how he ended up the skyrim guy. fricking glory hog
>they wouldnt even let obsidian do a spin off tes game
To be fair I don't think I'd appreciate how genuinely gay an obsidian tes game would be, so I'm with Todd on that one.
They would need to 3x or 4x the amount of poi's then make some system that ensures they can't spawn next to each other. Better yet have a rolling list so if you've recently been to a poi it gets sent to the bottom so you won't see it for a while. Also add a randomizer to it so we don't get all the same loot placed in the exact same locations.
The copy paste poi's killed the game for me. I didn't have any expectations from Bethesda so the writing was what I thought it would be. But seeing the same abandoned mines over and over again was a step to far. I'm glad the guy responsible for it got fired. I hope he never works in the game industry again.
This will be super easy to fix once the mod creation kit comes out. The community can pump out regular POI content and randomize them so that you can pretty much never visiting most of them within hundreds of hours. Not to mention how since it's all creation engine so people can just copy paste dungeon layouts from skyrim and elder scrolls and just reskin them.
It can't be saved. It's a instanced based turd. Fallout and Skyrim both at least had a big ass map to explore. This shit pile doesn't have that, it has loading screens that take you to shit empty planets.
>Realistically is there anything they could add to save this turkey?
lol no. The game is so fricked under the hood that even modders don't want to bother creating content for it.
The biggest problem is that the world itself is boring, so are the companions and the setting makes no sense and does nothing that's very interesting. You can get away with slapstick nonsense in a Fallout world and for all of Skyrim's problems, it is set in an Elder Scrolls universe that is very interesting. Mods can fix Skyrim and Fallout 4 (mostly) but they will never fix Starfield
retcon the whole time travel bullshit
retcon earth being destroyed
retcon the moronic skyrim magic crap
then maybe, just maybe there's a chance to salvage it
The core gameplay loop is fricked because they used procgen instead of handcrafted content, procgen itself isn't bad but they only made like 5 locations and they are always exactly the same, same chests, same enemies, same rng loot. It gets old really fast.
I think overhauling the quests to not be fast travel spam and making dungeons procedurally generated would be a good start.
You could give it the No Mans Sky treatment but ultimately you're always going to run up against the fact that the creation engine is probably the worst possible engine for this type of game.
It fricking can't, unlike what Ganker loves to parrot Cyberpunk was a great game from the day 1, the issues were entirely technical. They can be ironed out, as they have shown. Starfield is garbage from the get-go, nothing to fix there except going back to the drawing board for Starfield 2.
>forgot Starfield even existed >decide to look up recent mods for it to see if any progress has been made
Holy shit this game really is dead. For comparison fallout 4 had 115 new mods this week and new vegas had 90
thats actually blowing my mind, I didn't even consider they STILL hadn't put out the creation kit. I don't remember it taking more than a month or two for skyrim and FO4
This can't possibly be right. Skyrim was unplayable without UI mod. I'm 100% sure I didn't play it without one because the fricking claw was miniscule in the mod and I brute forced all the doors until the place with all of them in a row.
It's not impossible that there was already something out before the creation kit released. Starfield had this practically on launch: https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/mods/3444
Isn't that because mod tools haven't been released yet? I wonder what big modder groups would do with the base of Starfield, considering stuff like Fallout London existing. What if there was a mod group that gave us a whole new game that was actually competent?
Anything less than the creation kit and I don't care. This game needs something like one of those total overhaul mods to restrict you to a single planet or system that has content.
Starfield was enough proof to me that people only tolerate the bethesda formula because of the IPs they own. Its like how every other IP Gamefreak tries to make fails miserably because it doesn't have nostalgia propping it up
I also firmly believe that, for Elder Scrolls, the music is doing tons of heavy lifting. You still have thousands of people listening to Skyrim's soundtrack by using all of those giant hour long playlists on youtube. With that element now gone ES6 won't be half as memorable.
I am a moron sandwhich, read ES and music and just went for it, guess I really miss Jeremy.

We all do, anon. His last big thing was 13 years ago and he's not coming back. Though I do wish that they would atleast try someone other than Inon Zur. I think he does fine for Fallout but outside of Starfield's main theme the rest of his tracks suck and he's not a good fit for Elder Scrolls in general.

ayehaaa! I think Inon is sick of 'Thesda, they dont do anything to get him motivated I think, he tried really hard for F4, Beth didnt.
as for ES call me a homosexual, but Sergey Eybog with the right orchestra and choir could do something just as nostalgic and bright as Soule.
I turn the music off completely. For Morrowind, reading from CD caused crashing and with Skyrim the music changing when you are in combat before you even notice killed immersion.
Height enhancement for Todd. Sadly, on the day of his inbiggining, he missed his appointment schedule because he couldn't see over the receptionists counter.
>We want our players to experience the boundless potential of exploring an entire galaxy. >That's why we're proud to announce the Starfield Creation Club, launching with over 20 mods already available for purchase!
I honestly think we wont see 6, have you been paying attention to how desperate and nothing Bethesda has been ever since they did Saarfields direct?
Between the bots the paid reviewers and frankly shameful output, I think its dead Jim.
Warhorse just fricking murdered Bethesda in their showcase.
Those landscape shots took me back to when I was a lad watching the trailers for new games on demo discs, also good grief am I thankful someone still supports Crytek.
Where does it say the update is "big". It just says on that specific headline that there's "a lot going on here", which could very well mean a long list of bug fixes like their other updates have been. The only "big" news that matters for Starfield is Shattered Space and Creation Kit mods.
After fallout 4, 76 and the recent disaster that was Starfield, who the frick actually cares about Bethesda output? They proved they dont care about creating engaging videogames, they use a formula that was feeling stagnant 6 years ago and show no will to improve in any regard with shitfield.
Todd, you know... You can just reskin starfield as "fallout" or "elder scrolls" and sell a bajillion copies. Dev cycle for such a peoject would only be a few years.
>bethesda drones think bethesda will pull a no man's sky with starfield and fix everything that is bad about the game.
Nobody tell them about the memory loading bug that has been around since morrowind and hasnt not been fixed yet but the modders fix every time with the unnofficial patch.
They aren't any harder to pull off. They just need to actually execute on their promises.
Starfield would have been significantly better received, even with its empty environments, if you could actually fly around in space. Just being able to fly between planets, Elite style, would have helped Starfields reception. Because people, when told its a space game, want to be able to experience space. It still would not have lived up to the hype, but the completely dour shitting on it wouldn't exist.
Ultimately, Bethesda bit off more than they could handle. They decided to make a space game with an engine that ultimately cannot do what a space game should do. And when they spent a million man hours trying to force the engine to do something that it couldn't, they ran out of time to actually make content for the parts of the game that did work.
Larian said they don't want to work on DnD or with WotC for their next game. It won't be Spelljammer specifically. The interview seems to imply they want to do their own IP. It might end up being Spelljammer with the name filed off, of course, but it seems like they definitely do not intend to make more DnD games going forward.
i knew these homosexuals were waiting for fallout pipeline to wind down after the show, they literally have shafted and fricked all players of their game so they can min max sales of their unfinished broken game
I don't think so. Bethesda needs to fix one of two things for people to really change their opinion
1). The loading screen problem/fast travel problem. They need to do something to make moving between places actually fun and interesting. I don't think the engine CAN be fixed to make space travel fluid enough for this to happen.
2). Populate the planets with significantly more POIs or events. And they need to have at least double digit different places and events (20+ at minimum, ideally close to 50) for it to be noticeable. This is more doable, but I don't think they've had enough time to do it. And it definitely will not come with a free update. They'll sell it as a DLC and people will buy it, because people buy everything that comes out nowadays.
the shills say every update is good already when each one is just bug fixes and better lighting, neither of which adds anything to the game or actually work as intended
If they made TES VI or Fallout 5, it'd be a lot more financially succesful. And I would wager a lot of people would be more forgiving of the outdated engine and load times every five seconds.
Starfield was a mistake because they made it in an engine that can't do what a space game needs to do. If they had made something closer to the Outer Worlds, a lot more on rails and without the expectation of piloting a personal ship in space, they might have pulled it off. But they tried making something like Elite with an RPG story, and they just couldn't do it on a technical level. It was a mistake because they should have known an engine that can barely handle fricking ladders would not be able to handle piloting a spaceship well.
The IDEA of Starfield isn't bad. Bethesda just used the wrong tools to make it. So yes, it was a mistake.
failed in execution and gameplay. they shouldnt have tried to make it “realistic” because it fails completely in that front. shouldve just made it balls to the wall whacky and fun with a smaller scope. the lore of the game leans towards this better than the hundreds of barren planets that are absolutely useless and just leave players wanting more. for example, the uc, freestar rangers and house varuun agreed to only control three star systems. not only are house varuun completely irrelevant in this regard but bethesda shoots themselves in the foot by having a handful of actual civilized planets. out of about 1000, you’ll mostly be in the same 3 and the key. if they had just reduced the game to 3 dozen star systems and handcraft those remaining planets and space flight within one star system and grav drive to the next the game wouldve been more focused and would benefit much more.
bro just make it daggerfall in space like you said
It's weird there's no procedural dungeons, seems like the perfect game for it and it would help a ton with variety
Exactly, there's plenty of proc-gen algorithms they could have used to actually create content.
Instead they decided to randomly place pre-made structures, which just results in you seeing the exact same stuff over and over again with literally no variation.
With the shit that's wrong with Starfield I don't think there is anyone at bethsoft can code anymore.

This Baldur's Gapist swallows 15 loads at once.
That's a meme I've not seen for a long time...a long time.
Elon?
You just know elon watched this and went straight to his codemonkeys at twitter and asked them if they could ban it.
jesus christ i guess it really was all nostalgia this companies games suck
cmon now, there's no way this fat frick is not a sex offender
You know why can't I just call npcs to tell them I've done their quest instead of going through 6 loading screens?
The fact that we dont have devs trying this pisses me off so much.
The Secret World did this. Only example I know of off the top of my head.
They've done literally nothing to improve the game in any way other than adding DLSS officially. Less than 5 months until its 1 year anniversary. It's a complete and total joke.

hopefully it's Todd and emil being killed on livestream
Realistically is there anything they could add to save this turkey? The core gameplay has sent people back to Skyrim & FO4
Not really.
You'd have to make a ton of changes to the underlying game, which I very much doubt Bethesda will bother with.
They could at least copy paste melee from skyrim
add in a few more "designed" buildings to be randomly thrown on planets and maybe tweak some of the skills.

Kurt Kuhlmann
Ah. That was really him? I thought he was the Elder Scrolls lore guy.

No, and the funding and manhours for DLC certainly got axed after the poor launch. They'll just dump this on starved trannies on PS5 and move on.
It can't be saved. It's a instanced based turd. Fallout and Skyrim both at least had a big ass map to explore. This shit pile doesn't have that, it has loading screens that take you to shit empty planets.
I remember saying skyrim will have more concurrent players within the year and it happened within like a week lmao
nope because the core design is trash.
>Realistically is there anything they could add to save this turkey?
lol no. The game is so fricked under the hood that even modders don't want to bother creating content for it.
The biggest problem is that the world itself is boring, so are the companions and the setting makes no sense and does nothing that's very interesting. No, the core is rotten
retcon the whole time travel bullshit
retcon earth being destroyed
retcon the moronic skyrim magic crap

The core gameplay loop is fricked because they used procgen instead of handcrafted content, procgen itself isn't bad but they only made like 5 locations and they are always exactly the same, same chests, same enemies, same rng loot. It gets old really fast.
That's not procgen, every dungeon is handcrafted.
I think overhauling the quests to not be fast travel spam and making dungeons procedurally generated would be a good start.
You could give it the No Mans Sky treatment but ultimately you're always going to run up against the fact that the creation engine is probably the worst possible engine for this type of game.
Unless they integrate no blakks mod officially I'm not interested.
The big news is just a PS5 port
I for one am excited
i trust him.
>the engoodening is actually happpening
YESSSS! I KNEW THEY WOULD PULL THRIUGH
He will deliver. He always do
If you run the game a little arm with a needle comes out of the system and injects you with poz blood. That's gonna be the update.
You really thought that was funny huh
Thinking about it gave me a silly little giggle so I shared it.
Oh my God he booted it!
I highly doubt Starfield is going to pull a comeback like Cyberpunk 2077 did.
Cyberpunk worked fine on my machine. Played through that shit 3 times at launch.
Why does Starfield always invite 2077 discussion? The contrast of its release to 2.00 and EP1?
I had a chance with a girl, but it was easier to play your shit game, Todd. I have nothing but regret.
>forgot Starfield even existed
>decide to look up recent mods for it to see if any progress has been made
Holy shit this game really is dead. For comparison fallout 4 had 115 new mods this week and new vegas had 90

3 months for skyrim, 6 months for fo4. In this case they might be wanting to release it with the expansion.
Releasing the ck with an expansion is pants on head dumb, you may be on to something here.
>6 months for 4
I really don't remember it being that bad. Well disregard me then hopefully Starfield gets something decent in a years time
This can't possibly be right. Skyrim was unplayable without UI mod. I'm 100% sure I didn't play it without one because the fricking claw was miniscule in the mod and I brute forced all the doors until the place with all of them in a row.

Nothing because the bones aren't very good.
Starfield doesn't have a creation kit yet, so mods can only be done through .esm plugins or the script extender
Anything less than the creation kit and I don't care. This game needs something like one of those total overhaul mods to restrict you to a single planet or system that has content.
is the creation kit still not out for Starfield? what the frick man no wonder the mods still suck ass for it, what's taking them so long
The 5k players will love it
That's so fricking sad they really fricked it up
Nice dream game, Todd
Starfield was enough proof to me that people only tolerate the bethesda formula because of the IPs they own. Its like how every other IP Gamefreak tries to make fails miserably because it doesn't have nostalgia propping it up
I wouldnt say that, Starfield feels notably unfinished compared to other Thesda games, I think the tank on mediocrity is just spent.
>Magics gone
I also firmly believe that, for Elder Scrolls, the music is doing tons of heavy lifting. You still have thousands of people listening to Skyrim's soundtrack by using all of those giant hour long playlists on youtube. With that element now gone ES6 won't be half as memorable.

thats way more than it deserves imo
compare it to
numbers. Literally less players than fallout fricking shelter
Nothing they do can fix this soulless piece of shit game.
What exactly did Bethesda even do with all the money they got from their big successes in the past?
Height enhancement for Todd. Sadly, on the day of his inbiggining, he missed his appointment schedule because he couldn't see over the receptionists counter.
Why didn't he just melt all the coins he made from his profits to create a set of giant metal stilts wtf is he stupid??
Sorry. Pete Hines used the melted gold to forge some braces for his stupid frickin weird looking mouth.
and that's why you mew.
>We want our players to experience the boundless potential of exploring an entire galaxy.
>That's why we're proud to announce the Starfield Creation Club, launching with over 20 mods already available for purchase!
I'm excited, Starfield was my GOTY 2023 and I want more content for it.
a literally could not give a single frick, just work on tes 6 todd.
modding shop gets announced, dlc gets canned.
if this is the quality they're putting out then i'd much rather have them can tes6 and just go away.
I honestly think we wont see 6, have you been paying attention to how desperate and nothing Bethesda has been ever since they did Saarfields direct?
Between the bots the paid reviewers and frankly shameful output, I think its dead Jim.
Warhorse just fricking murdered Bethesda in their showcase.
the elder scrolls had a good run but time has shown that others are ready to carry the torch now. hopefully kcd2 will heal the video game industry.
Those landscape shots took me back to when I was a lad watching the trailers for new games on demo discs, also good grief am I thankful someone still supports Crytek.

isn't Kingdom Come historical fiction and not fantasy?
Naked Todd Howard sex planet
>See that wiener? You can ride it
Announcing updates? Todd, you lying piece of shit, you should be releasing construction set and DLC instead of talking. Fricking bastard.

Still no creation kit bgs drones just more bugs and ruining what ever mods people have already made.
bro, who actually fricking cares.

No one gives a frick about Shartfield now that Larian confirmed that they're working on a space game
Thanks to Shitfield I can't help but be vary of space games now, even if it's from Larian. They just seem harder to pull off.
That game might be Spelljammer, which isn't remotely what a space game is.
Already MOGGED by kcd2/warhorse studios. Todd is finished and nobody cares about Mumbaifield
i knew these homosexuals were waiting for fallout pipeline to wind down after the show, they literally have shafted and fricked all players of their game so they can min max sales of their unfinished broken game
100% chance this "big update" convinces the shills that starfield is now 'good', then a year later people will screech "starfield was always good".
Looking back now, was Starfield a mistake? Or was it good for Bethesda to finally make something new even though didnt succeed expectations
If they made TES VI or Fallout 5, it'd be a lot more financially succesful. And I would wager a lot of people would be more forgiving of the outdated engine and load times every five seconds.
Skyrim made them millions but also raised the expectations to levels Bethesda can't even hope to ever achieve
I am unable to hate Starfield because it's theme of trying to reconcile rationality with spirituality is not common in the medium.
failed in execution and gameplay. they shouldnt have tried to make it “realistic” because it fails completely in that front. shouldve just made it balls to the wall whacky and fun with a smaller scope. the lore of the game leans towards this better than the hundreds of barren planets that are absolutely useless and just leave players wanting more. for example, the uc, freestar rangers and house varuun agreed to only control three star systems. not only are house varuun completely irrelevant in this regard but bethesda shoots themselves in the foot by having a handful of actual civilized planets. out of about 1000, you’ll mostly be in the same 3 and the key. if they had just reduced the game to 3 dozen star systems and handcraft those remaining planets and space flight within one star system and grav drive to the next the game wouldve been more focused and would benefit much more.
Is the 'Eat Food' button finally ready?!?
Unless I can ignore the shitty story and conquer a planet to fill it with my sexual slaves then I don't care.
SLOPFIELD WE ADDED TEN THOUSAND PROCDERAL PLANETS WITH NOTHING TO DO ITS HECKING SKYRIM IN SPACE!
No 60 fps patch for consoles, no buy.
