this would be a 3 hour game without all the repetition involved. so why was it so highly rated?

Flash game
i genuinely dont get how you can get addicted to the dopamine from shitpost to the point where you are just always on Ganker talking about some shit you hate
No clue, tried it for couple hours but didn't get the appeal. Very basic exploration 2d action game with flash animation graphics.
Oh well not my problem, I'll just play something else
that's good thing
that's the point of exploration
have a nice day normie
Stop seething and come home to where you belong, OP.
how is it different?
Just as difficult in terms of boss battles, but with a map that fills in on its own, a sexy protagonist, and power ups that actually make you more powerful. Also, it's not too long.
HADAR SEN OLMEN
sounds like a really cheap indie game, i'm sure it isn't $60 right?
Price is lower by now. I see it on clearance sometimes.
It's definitely AAA
>Just as difficult in terms of boss battles
lol
>but with a map that fills in on its own
So, you like games when they're easier
>and power ups that actually make you more powerful
Just like in HK
>Also, it's not too long.
So, you like games when they have low content
It's a real game
hk sucks and the people who suck its dick dont play games
Hollow Knight is trash. Imagine making a metroid-vania and all the power-ups and upgrades you collect throughout the game are fucking boring. It's the entire appeal of the genre that you get new weapons and stuff that access new areas.
>at least it looks good
Ooooo every area being monochrome. That isn't visually boring or anything for the entire game!
why is it a metroidvania and not a metroid-like or castlevania-like?
>upgrades are not visual
I will never not see Hollow Knight as a glorified flash game. Even Axiom verge knows to show your character becoming stronger.
How much tendieseeth is silksong gonna cause i wonder
It might break Ganker for a few days
I tried this game and dropped it when I beat the first boss. After I a while I picked it up again and I understood everything and why people praised the game,
It's not terrible but it's not great either. I'd give it a solid 3.6/5
i did the same thing, i see many people who dropped it fast and then finally understood it when they tried again
why do tendies shit up this board constantly? it's not hollow knight's fault metroid dread sucked
Metroid Dread is pretty good, of course Hollow Knight is better
Metroid Dread was an 8/10. HK was a 7/10.
nah
Sorry, Metroid Dread was a 9/10
Because indie games need to stretch out their content because there isn't much of it. So they go for the souls-like memes. They make the game difficult and the lore a vague convoluted mess that autists have to piece together on their own. That way you feel like you got a lot of value for your money.
Hollow Knight isn't any harder than super metroid or SOTN and it's also fucking gigantic and its story is straight forward
HK is way harder than SotN because SotN is really fucking easy.
Hollow Knight is also pretty easy, discounting optional shit like path of pain or god home.
>HK is easy if you ignore half the game
NKGrimm is way harder than any boss in SotN and he's not even Godhome content
Hell, even just the Radiance fits that description and that's base game
God home and PoP are like 2% of the game. I'll grant you that NKG and Radiance though, considering they're story bosses and part of the main game
>its story is straight forward
Only the main plot with the sleepers and the hollow knight is. All the shit about the abyss, the pale king and the DLC you have to piece together yourself. I think the game would have benefited from more traditional storytelling instead of aping dark souls so hard.
It's no more complicated or obtuse than figiring out what happened to the chozo in metroid prime
>Because indie games need to stretch out their content because there isn't much of it
metroid is an indie game?
doesn't sound any different from metroid except metroid games are really short in duration
It constantly gives you overall directions on where to go next but it doesn't do so with a big pointing arrow
Must be hard being 50iq
>big world
>gives you zero (0) indication of where to go next
Almost like the point is to explore the world and determine your own path.
That's literally a non-complaint.
Genuine complaints:
>stupid ghost attacks you souls mechanics
>MUH AMBIGUOUS VOID HIVE
>Hollow Knight himself has like two lore
>power ups placed in such a way you have to go through each area twice because of secret locations only power ups can access
>no real bank
>enemies are weak, bosses are super relatively tough
>the only passive pet character sucks
Hey hey hey
There are like 3 or 4 passive pet characters that suck
Literally all your complaints aren't even bad things just things you decided you don't like for some reason
The last point is straight up false even
The 4th just describes metroidvanias in general lol
At least Mega Man has the decency to make the small enemies noticeably exist. Metroidvanias suck. I feel like I'm wasting my time. In Mega Man or even Dead Cells at least I know my aimless wandering is leading to somewhere important.
i dont want to waste my time reexploring the same area 45 times after each upgrade
>play open world game
>expect linear game experience
Ah. So you're retarded. Gotcha.
My two big complains about HK is that nail upgrades might just had not existed or had been just story related powerups. Your nail is basically a Castlevania shortsword the whole game and the nail charms outside Grubsong Elergy are just things like "longer reach", "no recoil", "attack more often", "do more damage" all that would be just a weapon change in other games. Might as well make you deal a fixed amount of damage the whole game. The other complain is locking things behind shadow gates. I was playing Afterimage past week and it pulled the same thing as HK with the dash upgrade, I sincerely don't see why people like these things. It's like DoS puppet master sections or CotM boxes, the most dry way of showing where to backtrack.
>Made an exploration based game for my game development class
>Literally one linear path in the tutorial room
>Where's the indication as to where to go next? I'm LOST!!!
Bruh I swear to fucking god normies are ruining the videogame industry
>big world
>gives you zero (0) indication of where to go next
>this would be a 3 hour game without all the repetition involved. so why was it so highly rated?
You just explained why
It's good
no, that's why it's shit. indie games waste your time
