Did you create a season character? They give you a full set of good starting gear. You will need to enhance a bit but it's very much worth it compared to getting gear the pre-season way. If you really don't want to create a season character then prepare to suffer quite a lot.

Well, I'm in this weird spot where I have several characters graduated from previous seasons. But I never really got them further than PRI or DUO Tuvala.
I read a lot of guides back then, but shit keeps changing so often, and with the amount of hidden information the game has I don't think I'll ever grasp everything it has to offer.
I guess I also missed the quest to exchange Tuvala gear for boss gear last time? I watched several guides on how to exchange it but I'm not getting the option from the same NPCs.
I realize that nowadays the fastest way to get any character stronger is to start a new seasonal character. But it's not like I'm going to play the seasonal forever,
I just want to invest more into characters I created and leveled before. That's why I'm looking for ways to do so.
Seasons mostly stay the same you get naru to pen, exchange to pri tuvala, enhance tuvala and get to level 60 to complete the pass. They've reduced the weekly enhance mats quest down to 500 instead of 5000 now too so it's really easy to get full PEN if you want to you even get 2 free PEN enhances from the pass 1 each for tuvala gear and accessories.
Since the best you have is PRI or DUO tuvala the easiest way to get more stats is still to create a new season character and focusing on at least one or two PEN weapon/armor, after the season is over you can exchange the weapons for the class you want to play as then start focusing on the guaranteed TET to PEN quests from Jetina. >Tuvala gear for boss gear

In my opinion you should only enhance season gear if you want minimal fustration. It shouldn't be too hard even for a newbie to eventually get full pen tuvala. After that you don't really have to touch it ever again if you don't want to. Just save up and dump caphras into gear. The last time I enhanced my own pen was 4 years ago and it was only because I got lucky. Everything else I've been patient and purchased from the marketplace.

One of my friends is having problems with randomly disconnecting in this game for like 10-20 seconds every couple hours or so, it literally gets him killed in high level grind zones. It's literally only this game he has these problems in his modem doesn't DC and he can use everyone else just fine. Does anyone here have any experience with trying to fix this kind of shit?

Last I played caphras stones came out and you could buy them with $ so it essentially doubled the P2W, then "bis" gear got replaced by new bis, yet again, cementing the infinite grind and catchup game so I kinda gave up because if you don't spend $ you'll always get 1 shot by whales in grinding zones.

PA throws enough free stuff at us, the content keeps coming and being made more accessible, it's just not in the state of being it used to be. The game is clearly a cash cow and the stratification that once existed is noticeably lessening over time. Some may disagree, but the only barrier to entry is a fair bit of time spent going through the accelerated catch-up motions and buying the often touted necessary pearl items (the tent comes to mind). Beyond that, everyone's starting to hit a stride where it's just not possible to get insanely far ahead. Bit by bit, yes, though it's not through P2W (alone), it's mostly persistence.

The T10 treasure item is a pretty good design. I'm kind of impressed. The problem previously with T10 was the opportuinity cost of having to only use one and having to swap them at the stable, so you generally would just want to probably stick to Arduanatt, but with the treasure item you can just swap the horses for niche uses. It also gives a justification to collecting all 3 T10's, which in turn also increases demand for the ever-increasing amount of T9's. Might not play out that great in reality and it might need some adjustments, but the concept behind it is solid.
Outfits. Well one that I bought, the one that is on discount, the ossari or what's called. Although I also used the 50%off coupon so it isn't really a biggie, but it still feels like shit.
Now they only need to give out a 1 man ship, or at least make grind for it less autistic. It is pretty much required for any fricking sea content and gated behind like 3-6 months worth of deliberate grind.

They aren't all that hard to get. The first one is fairly easy with the bonus mats from quests, can get it in like a week? The timegating is kind of annoying, but I think that you can even get the mats from marketplace nowadays, well, it's been a while since I've done it.
You can go from 0 boats to green geared Carrack in a month if you actually try. Being a neet helps might not be doable if you're a wageslave unless the last qol update changed things.
The very first Galleass/Caravel are easy to get you get half the materials from a questline which takes 4 days.
However if you're only interested in the controllable cannons buy a Frigate from the marketplace/seals then make it into an Improved Frigate, you only need to barter a bit for the enhancing materials the rest can be bought from the marketplace. No grind involved and it will not take several months, if the materials are in stock you could have it done in a day.
Southern Mediah is hueg. They get their indulgent content overwrite of Margoria out of the way and do so by adding a decent set of bosses. Ok. The fact they got back to the story and aesthetic I've enjoyed most (given the game's title...), this is long overdue but quite welcome.
Story progression probably doesn't matter to most people, though it seems like they're still able to make good use of the the worldbuilding they've done. Hope the new spots turns out decent.

I feel any original classes can be considered main characters. Certain characters are like specific individuals that makes more sense for them to be more like powerful people you'd meet on your journey rather than you being them.

Not really much except for convenience stuff like inf potion change. Free Peggy will be awesome for new players. New group content for them to look forward to while they chew on upper gyfin. The new 300v300 will probably include lifeskillers or non-combatants in some way, considering there will be naval combat and possibly a crew necessary for that.
There's an entire lifeskill built around gathering from plants/rocks/animals etc but it's gated by an energy system that can make it challenging to do for long periods of time until you get a sizable energy capacity.
So what's the verdict on Black Shrine rewards in relation to speedrun records? Does it mean jack shit if you're top 1/5/20 for a given calamity or is it better to just aim to clear the highest you can on as many bosses as possible?
Do you guys think they'll ever add non high heels armor for female characters? I wouldn't mind if the classes weren't gender locked but the one i like is female.
I wish they dialed back a little on that shit, make outfits family bound and don't hard lock generic ones to a class, but that's asking too much out of korea.

Personally, as someone who's climbing out of a two year gap, Debos are not really in the discussion. If anything, until the content gets implemented which makes them reasonably obtainable for most late-game players, they might as well not exist at all to a mid-tier player. Can't be pre-ordered, the drop locations are stat gated and obviously a target of endgame grinders. Realistically speaking they're the absolute last pieces of gear you should be picking up. Given the current difficulty of acquisition - it's better to wait until they spread the drop rates out across the new content (as they mentioned they will with the reworked spots and lantern).
Plainly speaking, hundreds of billions of silver is not a lot to a terminally endgame BDO player, but Debos are still seriously out of reach for anyone not at a post-endgame content state of being.
Do you usually use succession skills in awakening and vice versa?
Most class videos I see mostly focus on pure awakening/succession skills, but maybe there are some exceptions?
Cannot speak for other classes, though Awakening Ranger basically demands weaving between your bow and daggers. Lots of mobility is tied to the bow and many awakening skills have outputs that resolve to shotgun or an air combo. It's possible to not use your bow for an extended combo but it's still a necessary part of the toolkit.
Shotgun (Spacebar spam) is the most common connector skill that a Ranger uses. It's not only relatively easy to execute, it's even good in the Awakened form. Displacement, connects to itself or through other simple weaves (Blasting Gust, Q) and most importantly is the best skill to use as a means of practicing weapon swapping because it has so little downside and so much found upside.
Ranger is a ranged class. Awakening could be seen as the complete version of the class because it gives you plenty of reason and ability to not lean entirely on your ranged deadzone. Succession does that and is even more shotgun spam. I find it boring since it offends in the way your original post accuses the build of being. Straightforward. Awakening can be too since Ranged is a bit cooke-cutter in execution. Though again, weapon swapping adds quite a lot of dynamic to the class. It's probably why certain people, like myself, have mained the class since I picked it up years ago. Nothing else feels quite right or does what it does.

Awk ranger only uses pre for catches and iframe, it's always been like this. Idk what waltz spam achieves unless you're talking about pve.
Some classes have full damage combos utilizing their preawakening, others use it only for utility, some don't touch it at all.

Dealing damage in a narrow straight line always feels weird in a game where most other characters mainly strike in circles and cones/shotguns.
I just started playing again but as a zerker I'd always be weaving between the two even in PVE and I still knew an entire preawakening chain. As my witch alt I think I mostly stayed in awakening except to sometimes chuck a fireball and iirc maybe use one of the buffs, but that stuff I'd usually just bind to a quickslot.
Died four times to calamity 1 Duoksini in my first attempt to beat him. The fight was fun but it still can be frustrating when damage or cc gets applied after a slight delay where you think you dodged the ability

Another time the solution was literally get up, walk away for a couple mins, come back and then I could press F on stuff again. All my seasons get to 60/61 in like a day since I have a friend we can boost each other with, and with simplified questline all you have to do is kill some monsters and hit 56 in 1-2 hours. It's not a HUGE time commitment but your idea of starting at 50 would be a welcome change for veterans, simplified just isn't good enough

It was teleporting instakill hackers flooding the game. Funny thing is that there were only so many because bdo was giving the game out for free at the time so their idea was to delete the mode instead of stopping the free deal. It was good but for me it was a fun casual minigame. My guild leader loved it though, he played it all the time when it was available. But I think because of the wider appeal of pubg style games people got bored of those mechanics in general.

Ya pretty much. The max sp you used to need for many classes was anywhere from 2k to nearly 3k, used to take forever and polly forest was THE timesink. Nowadays new characters have all of their skills maxed with 1k sp at lv60-61. Kinda makes me wish they would rework the SP grind spots into something else.
With the advent of the infinite potions being opened up to marketplace registration, a generalized push towards 700+ GS for all further content, focus upon exploring various grinding & grouping styles (solo via lantern, new spots / revamps appear to focus on increased density). This all seems to imply that the early game is becoming nothing more than what the Seasonal servers make it out to be: quick, open yet linear in direction, ultimately unimportant once completed.
In some sense the leveling process is no different than skill EXP. Achieving the new baseline of 62+ is simply how things work nowadays. Having essentially capped skill points by then is also just a part of the process. It servers no role, no purpose, advances nothing other than a tack on weight stat. If the leveling process was handed Season servers to reward for putting in the time and effort, then the skill EXP mechanic might as well also be explored to derive some new usefulness out of its entirely obsolete state of being.
Here's some thoughts off the cuff: >Skill EXP (the majority) from mobs instead is turned into a drop with varied choices. You may max your skills quickly or take that originally intended EXP resource and allocate it elsewhere. This is only a stopgap until maxed, technically speaking. >Skill EXP zones could have the aspect turned on and off for the sake of an alternate desirable buff. This could be coupled with an upfront energy or silver cost to convert the zone to the desired grinding format (No Skill EXP, 10% Increased Drop Amount, 50 Energy for one hour, just placeholders). >Skill EXP, once capped, like the first idea will cause monsters to drop items (this could be a toggle in the interface...?) that can activate temporary buffs, be turned in for small rewards, contribute towards some larger item / consumable / treasure, whatever works.
Essentially take a system that stops working right as you truly begin to play the game and turn it into a zone customizer.
Right so im at that point on my season char where I got my awakening and its leveling time. Farmed titium valley, bashims, cadry, tried warugons (still sucks). Noticed each zone has 2 layers of popup quests for 'kill mobs' and get time gated black stones / gear / other tuvala upgrade mats. Noticed the Cadry node manager had a weekly that gave a bunch of tuvala ore, did that ontop of the popup quests. Went to see if bashims or wauregons had a quest at any NPCs but they didnt. Did anyone find others?
You can see them all under the weekly tab in your quest log, might not be there now since you completed one but there's also a weekly season quest from Fughar that gives some dream horse materials and lifeskill buffs.

-Valk succ has no easy grind capabilities like her awakening and learning to pvp on succ in season is a nightmare because everyone and their mother play the main class they know for the 8th season in a row, and you'll most likely get curbstomped before you learn anything, and also at this point there's nobody around, we're getting graduation soon. Wouldn't recomment.
-DK awa is alright, you won't be making big money at places like centaurs but it's not hard to learn, it's good at everything but doesn't relly excel at anything either, not because she's bad but because she get outshined by other classes.
-Sorc awa lol, lmao. play it if you are a moronic homosexual and then come to the realization that literally every other class is better than sorc with the exception of maybe shai, maybe. The "good" sorcs you see around have been playing every single day for 9 years and have 600-1000 bil worth of gear, full PEN accuracy accessories too. Then you compare them to a nova that has been playing for 6 months and they get BTFO despite having more gear.
-Lahn succ, like DK, is alright. You won't be doing much pvp in succ but you at least have the option to switch to awa if you feel like it. Wouldn't recommend still because there's not much you can do with it in season.

If you're willing to take some advice, don't go by the looks of the weapons and instead go by the overall theme and effects. Take for example maegu awakening, 2 fans as weapons sound pretty gay but the effects and moves are cool enough you'd think she was using something else. My tamer despite using a shortsword has big AoEs and it looks like i'm mostly using punches, shadows and a pet to attack, instead of stabs and slashes.

Gameplay is the only real upside, the combat plays more like a fighting game than a standard RPG and the class system is varied enough that there's a different set of muscle memory involved with every class (barring clones).
The story is forgettable and 90% of the "social aspect" is getting ganked by someone who wants your grind spot and has better gear than you. Little cooperative gameplay barring world bosses and some grindspots plus exactly three dungeons that hardly anybody runs.
Clone classes are different enough that they have their own sets of muscle memory. They typically only share a few skills but their kits are mostly different. Kuno and ninja attack patterns are not very similar, same with striker and mystic.
Yes, there is a story and the gameplay is regarded as being the best action combat around bar none. However there are complications, the story is a drag to follow because their engine doesn't handle cutscenes very well, it's not as smooth as say FFXIV, and the story overall is plagued by filler missions. To keep the comparison to final fantasy i have to say i didn't feel like my time was being wasted, nor was i being disrespected by being bounced to Limsa Lominsa to talk to fisherman A, then the elf city to talk to the counter girl, then to desert city to talk to guard C and so on.
While in FFXIV you feel like you're the ball in a pinball machine being bounced around, in BDO it's more of a lazy river where you can hop off to walk a bit faster, in the sense that it is linear and you can skip the NPC dialogue by pressing R and you won't have missed much. Filler missions are the same with "kill X" or "take that box from here to there" but there is lore deep down if you're willing to search for it. The main quest improves over time but never really "gets good". For lore example there is a reason there are no male elves in kamasylvia, it's not because the devs are coomers and really like elves (yes they are, but) the elves are actually from another dimension and all the males are fighting an evil god.
Social aspects are the usual guild stuff, some drama, some pvp, some group content etc. It's not really missing anything, but it depends on the guild you join. Some you'd think the game is dead because they're all ghosts riding horses in a circle or never talk, some you'd wish they stay the frick still because all the guild wars are impacting your grind.

Looking through the original cutscenes from 7 years ago and I have to say that they're still good and the engine handles them very well, I prefer those a lot more than the ones we got in morning light. They don't have our own character standing awkwardly or bugging out in the middle of the scene but instead focuses on the npcs and there's almost no jank at all compared to morning light.
As far as I know it operates like a family buff, though is only applied to the character which consumes it. So yes, it stacks with everything else... unless there are some hidden conditions/conflicts, but none are mentioned.
It's rough, but events and Rawr-Rawr make it much better. I finally got a T10 and I'm wondering which one I should go for next after the new buff.

bartering isn't even semi afk either cause the autopathing is so dogshit you get stuck on everything. the amount of times I set autopath expecting to be at my destination in about 15 minutes and I find out I got stuck on a rock 2 minutes in. it's ultimately why I stopped bartering years ago, now I just have a worthless carrack sitting around.
The flying one. While doom is nice to have and the 3 dashes are good, the world doesn't allow it to maximize its potential. There's too many turns, fences and rocks in the way and also slopes which stop you outright, but at least they're working on that.
Pegasus will really come in handy when the best route is to go straight or crossing rivers, and if you're grinding hexe get it for sure as you can jump from a cliff there and go from hexe->saunils in 10 seconds. Doom/gaynicorn will take you the long way around.

I miss the old days of bdo pvp, wasn't good at it but it was super fun and there were so many names, notorious players and guilds. Can't even remember the last time I saw a red player. Hell can't even remember the last time I even saw anyone owpvp or even walk through my grind spot. Weird to think there was a time in BDO where most people really didn't mind spontaneous pvp. Could be a combination of things. Maybe powercreep and people simply being more knowledgeable than they were in 2017-2018 pushes a lot away.

I flew around on my horse for 2 hours yesterday at every grind spot and I only saw 6 people. Only 1 of them wanted to pvp and we pvped for about 30 minutes. Even just 2 years ago I would have been stumbling over the amount of people wanting to pvp at orcs but it's not like that anymore. I fly around on arsha often and it is common to see like one or two people on the entire server at any mid-late game spot. Yeah you'd think people would be at the popular spots but not really. Sometimes I actually can get some pvp and maybe even a gvg but it's typically on friday and sunday. If I'm on a normal server I literally don't see people at spots like hexe, lower gyfin or orcs for days or even weeks at a time there. I've even dipped into season arsha for the pvp but it dies after a day or two every season. Still max out a season character every time just for those two days of constant owpvp.
Everyone was more or less on equal footing back then. There was a lot more comptetition for the same things at the start.
Eventually older players got what they wanted and went to better locations introduced in newer updates becoming even more powerful.

Get something straight, Asmon would quit almost no matter what. He's a seasonal, trendy streamer, moving from topic to topic and the currents guide him. BDO ended up on his stream because as much as this might shock some people in this thread, the game is doing well, much better than some of its peers.
So the streamer comes and goes, but we know he won't stay, the cards are already dealt against him. That being said, BDO has a large enough barrier to enough that any players who manage to make it through the filter are welcome in my eyes. The game has been out 7 years. If you can muster up the effort to slog through this grindfest then be my guest. I see this as wholly good. People need to be reminded BDO isn't the shitshow it once was at times, though it's still quite far from perfect. I'm not playing any other MMO and don't plan to, so I guess that says something.
I think the staying power this game has is much better than what it was 5-6 years ago, especially with that old stigma slowly fading away. Though lately it seems like it is fading much faster than it used to, which is quite big for the game considering the absolute state of other MMOs. Can't lie, I really do appreciate whenever a streamer plays BDO because I want to see this game succeed. Even if 10% of those players that follow a streamer who quits stay it's good. I still know people who joined when summit1g or imaqtpie and dyrus played and ended up becoming geared and love this game. It's only up from here BDO bros.
Depends on if the GM's are willing to babysit him, the TOS got updated a while back which pretty much made streamsniping or killing someone in malicious intent or whatever a bannable offence.
Hey anons, I'm a new player trying the game and I'm a little overwhelmed from the "seasonal" thing. When I try to create a char it asks me if I want it seasonal, and after checking on google it seems pretty complicated? Like you get some bonus but you can only wear certain equip and not other equip? I'm not sure what am I supposed to do because I don't understand what the consequences of what I choose will be

Just make a seasonal character and play the game normally, it'll introduce all the game's systems to you and then at the end dump you into the main game with (hopefully) some idea of where to go next. It's specifically designed as an onboarding experience for new players, though you'll see lots of veterans taking advantage of it because of the benefits it gives.
The server basically just makes sure new, returning or existing players must exist in their own ecosystem, temporarily. The gear you get in this server can eventually be converted to gear you will use on normal servers, once you "graduate".
Season in BDO roughly translates to accelerated leveling and questing. Your best bet is to see what the Black Spirit wants you to do (hit ","), follow your quest log (hit "O" and view the "Main" tab to see the available story quests). Hopefully that points you in the right direction.
Just make a season character and dont think about it.
Seasonal gear is an incredibly good catchup mechanic. It means you cant equip amazing gear you already have on your main, which doesnt matter to you because you're new. It gives you easily upgradable gear and if you dont get filtered and keep going, you can upgrade all your tuvala stuff to PEN which means you'll get TET boss gear once the season ends and it converts your character into a normal character. This lets you get to near endgame stuff pretty fast, while still leaving a path of progression upwards.
While playing on season servers, people cant flag up and gank you like they can on the normal realm. You also get a massive combat XP boost, so you level up like 10x faster once you start grinding.
Goals for a new guy should be familiarize yourself with the UI, get naru gear, smash it to pen to get free pri tuvalu gear. Then you might have to kinda learn the enchanting system

Plus you get some inventory and freebies from free season pass, also the paid one isn't worth it at all. Second. After the season ends you get to keeps your shit and you can wear normal items. Not many Valkyries can wield the Lancia, lorewise. The weapon is heavy and it requires an incredible amount of faith, resolve and an unyielding will in order to master it. Another problem is that most Valkyries have to follow the church orders unquestionably, that conflicts with the way of mastering the Lancia. As a Valkyrie that uses Lancia, you follow more the will of Elion rather than the church of Elionism, so-to-speak.
Awakening Valkyrie uses a lance and shield, Awakening Drakania dual wield lances.

Mirror classes in the sense they share a theme and a couple of skills. Other than that mae/musa play differently. Awakening sage also uses a spear, but it's used as more of a catalyst than a spear. >can you share gear between them
You can freely swap armor between classes. Musa/mae share mainhand and offhand weapons but not their awakening weapon.
As an awakened Musa main I can say it's great. I would however kinda recommend getting used to some other classes first due to the way Musa plays, it's very smooth and some may say basic, so if you were to try some more complicated classes afterwards you might struggle at first to get comfortable with them

So, maegu awak opinions? I think the AoEs are too small, the combo system is interesting but very clunky and the dashes aren't as snappy as i'd like them to be.
The combos are very weird, sometimes i can keep the 10% crit buff permanent while others it expires for no reason, especially when doing A/D+RMB, sometimes you can spin twice with the buff sometimes not. Yes i know dashes remove it. It's piss easy to get it though by just doing W+RMB > RMB > S+RMB, 10% crit damage +20AP plus addons in a second. I can see the class suffering from what awakening nova has, having to do the same short duration prebuff over and over and over again, albeit with a better and easier key input.
So far 7/10, small AoEs, gimmick reliant, high floor but no very high ceiling. Just don't get meme'd by the "teleports behind you" skill in pvp when fighting her.
can't find the flare or getting stuck on the stealth section? flare is random just look around for the glowing spawn points in the area, stealth is moronic like usual don't remember but I think I just ran and got good rng but if you press Q they won't detect you.
Ok. Here's the thing. There's a chance you won't find the flare and you need to let yourself being killed. Also you could find it and counts as not, but it should still technically work. And the last, you have to get on the highest point of the ship, be careful not to fall.

I can't speak to class meta and balance. I'll simply advise you shouldn't focus on what's "good" and rather what looks (and in turn, plays) to your liking. Since you're not committed to a class yet it's a great chance to experiment. Some people are quite literally bound to their sunk cost mains.

Bigger than it ever has been and slowly getting larger. The content is starting to plateau into multiple late-game spots, so you'll have lots to explore and plenty of locations you'll have a mountain of stats to get before you can reasonably access them. The game is fairly wide and somewhat deep in content. There are enough systems and locations to get entirely lost in the RPG elements and lose the MMO aspect of the game. It's that big. Much of it can automated and optimized to the point you still have people who b***h and moan about nothing to do. Autists, the lot of em'.

The game has come a long way. There are lots of catch up mechanisms, notably Season servers make it hilariously easy to get going. Don't stress, there's plenty of opportunities to change course. It takes hundreds of hours to gather up the resources to make truly critical decisions. Enjoy the world while it's unfamiliar to you.

As a Succesion Witch player, it's kind of meh. Low mobility, low protection, long cast times, no grab. Trash-tier in PvP. It has some decent range abilities, AoE and pretty damn good self-sustain, but that's pretty much it. Can't stand weapon swapping, so I can't comment on the viability of Awakening, which seems to be the popular choice at this moment.

I noticed that people who obsess over needing gear to pvp wouldn't ever join the pvp scene regardless of how much gear they had, they'd be hardcap and still get stomped and simply realize they don't like pvping. Swiping and neeting pve doesn't do anything for you if you don't already know how to pvp.
T1s are the most relevant form of pvp right now if you're interested, and it barely requires any gear. No one does open world pvp and no one does gvgs anymore. Get on a trial succ witch and learn how to pvp with it in battle arena, succ mages are literally one of the best and cheesiest 1v1 classes in the game, better in small scale and even better in large scale. It's the only ranged class that utterly shits on grab classes. If you get good then T1 guilds will be chasing you down
The top pvpers in this game are mostly gearlets, T1 guilds are full of total gearlets who refuse to grind but are just really good at the game. Some of the best pvpers sit in battle arena on characters with less gear than trial characters and still roflstomp, just because they know how the game works. Most of the top 100 aos for several classes haven't grinded in years. T2s and beyond are dead because such a small fraction of the pvpers in this game actually have gear, so you have no excuse to not get into pvp if that's what you want.
Succ Witch is shit at almost all of these. No fricking grab, no mobility, squishy as hell, long-ass stationary cast times. The best is maybe trying to play from afar and nuking people, but even that aspect was changed to make Witch play way more close-up.

Oh yes, the 1000IQ "just manage your cooldowns and play the terrain". The heals apart from maybe Sage's Light are laughable, you'll never get the channel of Lighthouse off. The Teleport is a neat skill, but in the current universe of tons of classes having almost perma dashes, you'll just get ran down easily. You just have no good chase/cc, almost every class can just run circles around you and once you run out of your good cooldowns or you try to cast your skills you're just easy prey, especially when you're this squishy.
But sure, grab don't matter as witnessed by the existence of Wizard, whatever. You keep living your fantasy world.

I did some cooking back in the day got to guru and enjoyed dabbling in alchemy, but I get burnt out fast by doing that since it gets old after awhile, although I recall building a huge stockpile of imperial cooking boxes to periodically trade in for a lot of silver. idk if thats viable anymore though, probably isnt bad

You don't understand how protection, ccs or debuffs work. Classes generally aren't overall good, but good at certain aspects of the game and bad at others.
Witch is weird where her Awakening is really really good at certain niche endgame spots no one enjoys (Ash and Crypt) and mid to bad at all the other pve spots. She's great at large scale pvp and basically mandatory for a team, but trash at 1v1 and needs to be babysat in small scale. She's good at certain gathering spots, not recommended for hunting, good at boss rush, and not great for sea content.
You can always tag all of your gear on a second character and have lifeskill alts.
I'd compliment Witch with some melee character good at 1v1 and grind spots with a quick ttk. A.Musa, Striker, A.Ranger, S. Guardian, and S.Zerker are all solid alts.

Terrible drops (ring is worthless, trash is also worthless plus terrible agris value) and packs that are 8 miles apart and are strong enough to not evaporate the moment you hit them unless you've got the AP to be grinding anywhere else. Just an overall unfun zone for someone without a hypermobile class and high-end gear of which I had neither when I chose to do it.

I'm assuming your dande is c5, but you grind on succession due to the blackstar mainhand. You should take those caphras out and dump them somewhere else. There's a caphras event going on where you can pull 100% of them out for 1 silver per caphras stone. It'd be a good idea to do this before the event is over. Infinite hp pot is super worth, go for it. it's easy now

imo for new or returning players it's important to grind kratuga for a while because grinding artifacts fricking sucks when you're more geared and you will want a lot of artifact sets. it's good money but not as good as later spots so it blows having to go back. With the duo godr ayed + tet jetina crescent and all AP journals done you should be 281 ap mainhand which is fine for orcs.

You can stop at any point and go do whatever you want, but If it's your first character I suggest mashing R until you reach the awakening quest and Valencia questline.
You'll unlock the for of war on the world map for future characters and it will make your life easier in a long run.
Thankfully you only do it once per account.
Every next character you create has an option to skip a good chunk of the story up until Valencia.
I think some key features and neat rewards are locked behind taking the quests for the first time.
The game has a lot of account-wide things like pets, fairies, mounts, ships, inventory extensions, the tag system, etc.

Ok I penned every slot on my tuvala gear and accessories but im scared to graduate incase I mess up and dont get it all turned into boss gear. And they give me a boss exchange coupon before I graduate in a kit thing. But other guides say I get that after I graduate but idk if thats outdated for previous seasons. And then I wanna do the garunteed pen thing too but I cant tell if I need to do that during the season while the season pass is up to get the reward.
I kinda wanna do it early because my main is only a few AP from a new bracket but he only has regular capotia earrings and not even upgraded ones, and I think if I graduate early I can transfer some of them to him so that he can farm a more profitable zone.

Devs are very cagey about Shai outfits on account of dickygays and (probably) Korean law so there's likely some legal motivator there.
Jetina boss armor requires a tet piece to start and gives you a consistent, progressive upgrade path to pen, once per piece.
I suppose the horse might have to levelled still and thus reach ideal speed/brake thresholds unless it comes pre-trained like with the horse skills I'm reading off the page.

So yes, I'm sure you have a lot of hours on Ranger. A lot of people do. Most are horrific and don't even recognize it.

The expansion is the kind of shit autists from gw2 and ffxiv love so it bodes nicely with them, while you have the boss rush to break up the monotony for grinders and class autists. Lost Ark players are freed from being forced to do dailies and can grind however much they like. Future content is looking pretty nice while other MMOs have nothing exciting to announce. Good PCs are super cheap nowadays so more people than ever have the fps to play bdo comfortably.

What AP? On my Musa with similar looking loot buffs I was getting around 400mil/h on 3 trees. I was basically hitting the respawn timer for the mobs, if I was on top of my 100%BSR buffs whenever it was ready then I would start going a tad too fast

Lol it's funny how unicorn has always been the meme horse. They need to buff the water walking and make it limitless and mountable in water if they want the horse to be useful. You should be able to park your horse in the water, do whatever you need to do, then get back on it and leave without having to ever touch grass. Maybe walking on water creates temporary water platforms ala mystic succession quest, that allies can walk on. Could be useful in node wars with a lot of aquatic barriers. Instead of having to play around rivers, lakes and ponds, have the shotcaller shout for a water bridge. Something, anything. t10 dine is so lame.
I thought about it. What type of magic valkyrie uses? Is it called divine magic, but it's something that she got from god or is something akin to "a will" as in she has faith and the power manifests? And how can she live with a black spirit and why isn't her techniques corrupted by it? It feels strange as frick for holy class to be possessed by a dark entity and seemingly having her powers not being affected. I this shit explained in lore as how does divine magic works?

The game really tries hard to stop me from getting any high stack ever again. I don't even have anything to click the hammer with.
I am humbly of the belief some account are meant to enhance, some aren't. When you're talking a system that is wholly determined by chance permutations there's little you can do other than have the necessary overhead capital and a frick ton of patience. I'm not going to advocate to give up, it's just that enhancing might as well be the proverbial resource and silver sink with punishing returns. Anything else, at all, is a better use of time than less than optimized enhancing. It might as well come with a warning message that you're about to risk increasing depression and anger. Stupid, but that's the system.
Oh, it's not as if I'm delusional or too emotional about the outcomes of the system. It's high-variance and I understand that. It's more about me just having the bizzare experience of failing to create a high failstack again, when it's pretty much the only reason I am doing it. Like 18 attempts in a row starting at 100+ without even getting to a 240 stack.
And I'm not even complaining about my luck, while I don't really track my success/failure rates, I'd consider my outcomes overall more on the lucky side and the way I'm being screwed aren't even nearly as bad as it could've been, it's just that the current streak feels surreal.

41 PEN Blackstar Awk weapon failures was enough for me. I know, it's not much and nowhere near a catastrophe, but that was my personal breaking point.
Grinding has a fuzzy but relatively predictable input to output ration. Lifeskilling is likewise, except it even scales as you improve. I actually like the new Green Thumb game when I'm picking flowers because there's some amount of interactivity and benefit if I pay attention and put in some effort.
Enhancing is a dismal science. I guess the great equalizer has to occur somewhere and it's there (and drop chance, nevermind that though). Enhancing blew up my wealth once. Not again. To that I say if you aren't essentially one tapping your shit, then shove your enhancing shit onto the marketplace so the psychotic gambling addicted trillionaires can continue to chase the dragon. Feels almost exactly like a coke habit.
I take enhancing in general more like a bonus that I can afford to lose, so it rarely really matters whether I succeed or fail. If I get it I get it, if I don't I don't and if it's something essential, then I try to maximize the amount of rolls highly enough that I am not too likely to fail and get screwed.
Good attitude to have. Goal-orientation with enhancing is dangerous. Learned me lesson, venting is cathartic and hopefully helps others not be blindsided when attempting it.

Goals are fine, it's more about managing expectations and results. Getting too invested when failing something like 20% attempts 5 times in a row is ultimately silly with the amount of randomness the game has. You roll things so much that it's almost inevitable that you're gonna get fricked real hard. That's just how it works, just be ready for when it happens.
they're clearly shifting pvp off to the side and focusing on pve already. if they're serious though, they need to update the movement code, starting to show its age

The biggest issue in the game is movement creep, every class can now teleport and move at the speed of light fricking over and kind of hope for good combat.

This game's been so good to me coming back and it's concerning. I PEN'd my timbs and flames of frosts were just chilling on the marketboard. Free outfits, free bikini, a new shiny prostitutekini, and Maegu awakening is fun. What else did I miss in the last like 10 updates.
The obvious one would be the new zone with the new boss blitz and the new crystals which are really good. There's the +2dp and +1ap from a new adventure log and the main story quest in LotM. You can get the flame for the gloves in a month, 4 resets, since you get a bonus reward from another adventure log each time you kill a new boss.
New cooking recipes, hunting lifeskill zones etc. might want to skim through the patch notes yourself since it's only been 10 updates.

The cooking looks neat, I did plant a bunch of the new seeds today for farming. Did know about the hunting, I haven't tried it but it's on the to do list eventually. I'll read up on it . I'm debating how lazy I can be and not finish out my mana pot.
The county gukbap recipe is my personal go to for guru boxes now since it's so incredibly easy to make but it does have lower profit than the old meals since it doesn't benefit from mastery when cooking.
Just finish the mana pot, the gathering part is easier than ever. Can literally do it with a magic tanning knife and nothing else, the drop rate has been buffed multiple times and I'm pretty sure they made more mobs drop the whole piece. Imo the hard part is shitty manshaum and awful tshira.

Did you create a season character? They give you a full set of good starting gear. You will need to enhance a bit but it's very much worth it compared to getting gear the pre-season way. If you really don't want to create a season character then prepare to suffer quite a lot.
Sell the accessories, keep the black stones, hard/sharp black crystals, caphras, memory fragments and cron stones for later you will need most of them for quests where you get PEN gear without enhancing. Use this code in redeem code for 1000 crons SUPE-RADV-ENTU-RERS

Well, I'm in this weird spot where I have several characters graduated from previous seasons. But I never really got them further than PRI or DUO Tuvala.
I read a lot of guides back then, but shit keeps changing so often, and with the amount of hidden information the game has I don't think I'll ever grasp everything it has to offer.
I guess I also missed the quest to exchange Tuvala gear for boss gear last time? I watched several guides on how to exchange it but I'm not getting the option from the same NPCs.
I realize that nowadays the fastest way to get any character stronger is to start a new seasonal character. But it's not like I'm going to play the seasonal forever,
I just want to invest more into characters I created and leveled before. That's why I'm looking for ways to do so.
Seasons mostly stay the same you get naru to pen, exchange to pri tuvala, enhance tuvala and get to level 60 to complete the pass. They've reduced the weekly enhance mats quest down to 500 instead of 5000 now too so it's really easy to get full PEN if you want to you even get 2 free PEN enhances from the pass 1 each for tuvala gear and accessories.
Since the best you have is PRI or DUO tuvala the easiest way to get more stats is still to create a new season character and focusing on at least one or two PEN weapon/armor, after the season is over you can exchange the weapons for the class you want to play as then start focusing on the guaranteed TET to PEN quests from Jetina.

In my opinion you should only enhance season gear if you want minimal fustration. It shouldn't be too hard even for a newbie to eventually get full pen tuvala. After that you don't really have to touch it ever again if you don't want to. Just save up and dump caphras into gear. The last time I enhanced my own pen was 4 years ago and it was only because I got lucky. Everything else I've been patient and purchased from the marketplace.

One of my friends is having problems with randomly disconnecting in this game for like 10-20 seconds every couple hours or so, it literally gets him killed in high level grind zones. PA throws enough free stuff at us, the content keeps coming and being made more accessible, it's just not in the state of being it used to be. The game is clearly a cash cow and the stratification that once existed is noticeably lessening over time. Some may disagree, but the only barrier to entry is a fair bit of time spent going through the accelerated catch-up motions and buying the often touted necessary pearl items (the tent comes to mind). Beyond that, everyone's starting to hit a stride where it's just not possible to get insanely far ahead. Bit by bit, yes, though it's not through P2W (alone), it's mostly persistence.

The T10 treasure item is a pretty good design. I'm kind of impressed. The problem previously with T10 was the opportuinity cost of having to only use one and having to swap them at the stable, so you generally would just want to probably stick to Arduanatt, but with the treasure item you can just swap the horses for niche uses. It also gives a justification to collecting all 3 T10's, which in turn also increases demand for the ever-increasing amount of T9's. Might not play out that great in reality and it might need some adjustments, but the concept behind it is solid.

Well yeah but you can reliable get only sailboat/frigate from shining seals, and need to grind for caravel/galleass raw, which is really fricking obnoxious.
They aren't all that hard to get. The first one is fairly easy with the bonus mats from quests, can get it in like a week? The timegating is kind of annoying, but I think that you can even get the mats from marketplace nowadays, well, it's been a while since I've done it.
You can go from 0 boats to green geared Carrack in a month if you actually try. Being a neet helps might not be doable if you're a wageslave unless the last qol update changed things.
The very first Galleass/Caravel are easy to get you get half the materials from a questline which takes 4 days.
However if you're only interested in the controllable cannons buy a Frigate from the marketplace/seals then make it into an Improved Frigate, you only need to barter a bit for the enhancing materials the rest can be bought from the marketplace. No grind involved and it will not take several months, if the materials are in stock you could have it done in a day.
Which t10 horses are the best? The doom one actually seems quite underwhelming with an useless fluff skill.
Southern Mediah is hueg. They get their indulgent content overwrite of Margoria out of the way and do so by adding a decent set of bosses. Ok. The fact they got back to the story and aesthetic I've enjoyed most (given the game's title...), this is long overdue but quite welcome.
Story progression probably doesn't matter to most people, though it seems like they're still able to make good use of the the worldbuilding they've done. Hope the new spots turns out decent.

Not really much except for convenience stuff like inf potion change. Free Peggy will be awesome for new players. New group content for them to look forward to while they chew on upper gyfin. The new 300v300 will probably include lifeskillers or non-combatants in some way, considering there will be naval combat and possibly a crew necessary for that.

There's an entire lifeskill built around gathering from plants/rocks/animals etc but it's gated by an energy system that can make it challenging to do for long periods of time until you get a sizable energy capacity.

Depends, really. Probably Debos, unless going for some DR/Eva maxing.
Personally, as someone who's climbing out of a two year gap, Debos are not really in the discussion. If anything, until the content gets implemented which makes them reasonably obtainable for most late-game players, they might as well not exist at all to a mid-tier player. Can't be pre-ordered, the drop locations are stat gated and obviously a target of endgame grinders. Realistically speaking they're the absolute last pieces of gear you should be picking up. Given the current difficulty of acquisition - it's better to wait until they spread the drop rates out across the new content (as they mentioned they will with the reworked spots and lantern).
Plainly speaking, hundreds of billions of silver is not a lot to a terminally endgame BDO player, but Debos are still seriously out of reach for anyone not at a post-endgame content state of being.
Don't forget that most people that enchant Debros are doing HEAVY p2w as it will cost you otherwise countless of silver in crons to enchant them

Most class videos I see mostly focus on pure awakening/succession skills, but maybe there are some exceptions?
Cannot speak for other classes, though Awakening Ranger basically demands weaving between your bow and daggers. Lots of mobility is tied to the bow and many awakening skills have outputs that resolve to shotgun or an air combo. It's possible to not use your bow for an extended combo but it's still a necessary part of the toolkit.

I remember playing Ranger for a bit, and found it weird that her basic awakening skills give her ranged damage buff.
Shotgun (Spacebar spam) is the most common connector skill that a Ranger uses. It's not only relatively easy to execute, it's even good in the Awakened form. Displacement, connects to itself or through other simple weaves (Blasting Gust, Q) and most importantly is the best skill to use as a means of practicing weapon swapping because it has so little downside and so much found upside.
Ranger is a ranged class. Awakening could be seen as the complete version of the class because it gives you plenty of reason and ability to not lean entirely on your ranged deadzone. Succession does that and is even more shotgun spam. I find it boring since it offends in the way your original post accuses the build of being. Straightforward. Awakening can be too since Ranged is a bit cooke-cutter in execution. Though again, weapon swapping adds quite a lot of dynamic to the class. It's probably why certain people, like myself, have mained the class since I picked it up years ago. Nothing else feels quite right or does what it does.

Yes, because the tools it's provided allow a Ranger to basically sit in melee. That's sort of what occurs, Awakening skills are so good that (an important) half the class is set aside and ignored. I won't accuse you of playing less optimally, but I have a feeling that's because Waltz spam feels so good in practice.
Awk ranger only uses pre for catches and iframe, it's always been like this. Idk what waltz spam achieves unless you're talking about pve.

Still I find it weird that succession and the original skill tree have so many skills and additional branches even if you end up with an awakening that doesn't use them.
Dealing damage in a narrow straight line always feels weird in a game where most other characters mainly strike in circles and cones/shotguns.
Some classes have full damage combos utilizing their preawakening, others use it only for utility, some don't touch it at all.
I just started playing again but as a zerker I'd always be weaving between the two even in PVE and I still knew an entire preawakening chain. As my witch alt I think I mostly stayed in awakening except to sometimes chuck a fireball and iirc maybe use one of the buffs, but that stuff I'd usually just bind to a quickslot.

Yep, happened to me and other players in chat as well. One time I just thought I had to disconnect and come back, which worked, but broke my quest so I had to forfeit it and redo it. Another time the solution was literally get up, walk away for a couple mins, come back and then I could press F on stuff again. Someone also said change server works but I got out of there before it happened again
I had to literally just power through the region through the shitty crashes so I could do all the quests, I could not wait to leave after the first tale. The entire region is a slog and i have zero interest in the bosses. Also Korean mythology suuuuucks

All my seasons get to 60/61 in like a day since I have a friend we can boost each other with, and with simplified questline all you have to do is kill some monsters and hit 56 in 1-2 hours. It's not a HUGE time commitment but your idea of starting at 50 would be a welcome change for veterans, simplified just isn't good enough
The second I got into that dogshit "stealth" mission early on that kept clipping me and sending me backwards for no fricking reason I literally just alt f4d, took a break for a week then deleted the character.

It was good but for me it was a fun casual minigame. My guild leader loved it though, he played it all the time when it was available. But I think because of the wider appeal of pubg style games people got bored of those mechanics in general.

Ya pretty much. The max sp you used to need for many classes was anywhere from 2k to nearly 3k, used to take forever and polly forest was THE timesink. Nowadays new characters have all of their skills maxed with 1k sp at lv60-61. Kinda makes me wish they would rework the SP grind spots into something else.
With the advent of the infinite potions being opened up to marketplace registration, a generalized push towards 700+ GS for all further content, focus upon exploring various grinding & grouping styles (solo via lantern, new spots / revamps appear to focus on increased density). This all seems to imply that the early game is becoming nothing more than what the Seasonal servers make it out to be: quick, open yet linear in direction, ultimately unimportant once completed.
In some sense the leveling process is no different than skill EXP. Achieving the new baseline of 62+ is simply how things work nowadays. Having essentially capped skill points by then is also just a part of the process. It servers no role, no purpose, advances nothing other than a tack on weight stat. If the leveling process was handed Season servers to reward for putting in the time and effort, then the skill EXP mechanic might as well also be explored to derive some new usefulness out of its entirely obsolete state of being.
Here's some thoughts off the cuff:
>Skill EXP (the majority) from mobs instead is turned into a drop with varied choices. You may max your skills quickly or take that originally intended EXP resource and allocate it elsewhere. This is only a stopgap until maxed, technically speaking.
>Skill EXP zones could have the aspect turned on and off for the sake of an alternate desirable buff. This could be coupled with an upfront energy or silver cost to convert the zone to the desired grinding format (No Skill EXP, 10% Increased Drop Amount, 50 Energy for one hour, just placeholders).
>Skill EXP, once capped, like the first idea will cause monsters to drop items (this could be a toggle in the interface...?) that can activate temporary buffs, be turned in for small rewards, contribute towards some larger item / consumable / treasure, whatever works.
Essentially take a system that stops working right as you truly begin to play the game and turn it into a zone customizer.
Right so im at that point on my season char where I got my awakening and its leveling time. Farmed titium valley, bashims, cadry, tried warugons (still sucks). Noticed each zone has 2 layers of popup quests for 'kill mobs' and get time gated black stones / gear / other tuvala upgrade mats. Noticed the Cadry node manager had a weekly that gave a bunch of tuvala ore, did that ontop of the popup quests. Went to see if bashims or wauregons had a quest at any NPCs but they didnt. Did anyone find others?
Pretty sure those seasonal weeklies are one/week, you took the one from Cadry so now you can't do Bashim/Waregon/etc.

-Valk succ has no easy grind capabilities like her awakening and learning to pvp on succ in season is a nightmare because everyone and their mother play the main class they know for the 8th season in a row, and you'll most likely get curbstomped before you learn anything, and also at this point there's nobody around, we're getting graduation soon. Wouldn't recomment.
-DK awa is alright, you won't be making big money at places like centaurs but it's not hard to learn, it's good at everything but doesn't relly excel at anything either, not because she's bad but because she get outshined by other classes.
-Sorc awa lol, lmao. play it if you are a moronic homosexual and then come to the realization that literally every other class is better than sorc with the exception of maybe shai, maybe. The "good" sorcs you see around have been playing every single day for 9 years and have 600-1000 bil worth of gear, full PEN accuracy accessories too. Then you compare them to a nova that has been playing for 6 months and they get BTFO despite having more gear.
-Lahn succ, like DK, is alright. You won't be doing much pvp in succ but you at least have the option to switch to awa if you feel like it. Wouldn't recommend still because there's not much you can do with it in season.

If you're willing to take some advice, don't go by the looks of the weapons and instead go by the overall theme and effects. Take for example maegu awakening, 2 fans as weapons sound pretty gay but the effects and moves are cool enough you'd think she was using something else. My tamer despite using a shortsword has big AoEs and it looks like i'm mostly using punches, shadows and a pet to attack, instead of stabs and slashes.
genuinely asking, is this game anything more than coombait? is there actual good gameplay, story, social aspects that make it a good MMO or no? I own it but never played it.
Gameplay is the only real upside, the combat plays more like a fighting game than a standard RPG and the class system is varied enough that there's a different set of muscle memory involved with every class (barring clones).
The story is forgettable and 90% of the "social aspect" is getting ganked by someone who wants your grind spot and has better gear than you. Little cooperative gameplay barring world bosses and some grindspots plus exactly three dungeons that hardly anybody runs.
Clone classes are different enough that they have their own sets of muscle memory. They typically only share a few skills but their kits are mostly different. Kuno and ninja attack patterns are not very similar, same with striker and mystic.
Yes, there is a story and the gameplay is regarded as being the best action combat around bar none. However there are complications, the story is a drag to follow because their engine doesn't handle cutscenes very well, it's not as smooth as say FFXIV, and the story overall is plagued by filler missions. To keep the comparison to final fantasy i have to say i didn't feel like my time was being wasted, nor was i being disrespected by being bounced to Limsa Lominsa to talk to fisherman A, then the elf city to talk to the counter girl, then to desert city to talk to guard C and so on.
While in FFXIV you feel like you're the ball in a pinball machine being bounced around, in BDO it's more of a lazy river where you can hop off to walk a bit faster, in the sense that it is linear and you can skip the NPC dialogue by pressing R and you won't have missed much. Filler missions are the same with "kill X" or "take that box from here to there" but there is lore deep down if you're willing to search for it. The main quest improves over time but never really "gets good". For lore example there is a reason there are no male elves in kamasylvia, it's not because the devs are coomers and really like elves (yes they are, but) the elves are actually from another dimension and all the males are fighting an evil god.
Social aspects are the usual guild stuff, some drama, some pvp, some group content etc. It's not really missing anything, but it depends on the guild you join. Some you'd think the game is dead because they're all ghosts riding horses in a circle or never talk, some you'd wish they stay the frick still because all the guild wars are impacting your grind.

Looking through the original cutscenes from 7 years ago and I have to say that they're still good and the engine handles them very well, I prefer those a lot more than the ones we got in morning light. They don't have our own character standing awkwardly or bugging out in the middle of the scene but instead focuses on the npcs and there's almost no jank at all compared to morning light.

If you don't have it then get a pegasus because flying.
The flying one. While doom is nice to have and the 3 dashes are good, the world doesn't allow it to maximize its potential. There's too many turns, fences and rocks in the way and also slopes which stop you outright, but at least they're working on that.
Pegasus will really come in handy when the best route is to go straight or crossing rivers, and if you're grinding hexe get it for sure as you can jump from a cliff there and go from hexe->saunils in 10 seconds. Doom/gaynicorn will take you the long way around.

It just depends, really. From killing mobs it's spot dependant, from lifeskilling you often have some handover/mission with randomness to get it, for gathering it probably depend on type of gathering and mastery.

I miss the old days of bdo pvp, wasn't good at it but it was super fun and there were so many names, notorious players and guilds. Can't even remember the last time I saw a red player. Hell can't even remember the last time I even saw anyone owpvp or even walk through my grind spot. Weird to think there was a time in BDO where most people really didn't mind spontaneous pvp. Could be a combination of things. Maybe powercreep and people simply being more knowledgeable than they were in 2017-2018 pushes a lot away.

I flew around on my horse for 2 hours yesterday at every grind spot and I only saw 6 people. Only 1 of them wanted to pvp and we pvped for about 30 minutes. Even just 2 years ago I would have been stumbling over the amount of people wanting to pvp at orcs but it's not like that anymore. I fly around on arsha often and it is common to see like one or two people on the entire server at any mid-late game spot. Yeah you'd think people would be at the popular spots but not really. Sometimes I actually can get some pvp and maybe even a gvg but it's typically on friday and sunday. If I'm on a normal server I literally don't see people at spots like hexe, lower gyfin or orcs for days or even weeks at a time there. I've even dipped into season arsha for the pvp but it dies after a day or two every season. Still max out a season character every time just for those two days of constant owpvp.
I miss it so much, the only people who remain are gearlords and now they're so concerned with grinding gear that they often have no time to bother with pvp except for war. Back then you'd get any tim dick and jane willing to throw down. AoS can't come soon enough.
Everyone was more or less on equal footing back then. There was a lot more comptetition for the same things at the start.
Eventually older players got what they wanted and went to better locations introduced in newer updates becoming even more powerful.
Seasons also trivialized a lot of things and considerably shortened the time an average new player needs on pre-level 60 spots.
Then there's always this crowd of "p2w" criers, who both discourage people from trying pvp (or the game) and encourage them to rush the whole game. Since you "can't win" unless you have the best gear.
Some people I know play the game extremely casually and half of them don't even touch pvp (myself included).
BDO does a lot of things poorly, but it's a pretty damn good for immersion, comfy pve and lifeskilling.
Hell, I only got into the game late because people always called it a pvp focused MMORPG.

Old moon is totally useless unless you want to really go ham on leveling. Kama can be a little bit useful, but it's easy enough to win on the Marketplace for when you need it.
Wowee an extra 100% exp, totally worth $12.50 a month. Kama buff is nice if you're a lifeskiller I suppose, but 20% extra drop rate is nothing and like you said, they pop on the marketplace like candy. Value pack is mostly useless too unless you want to look pretty or you're a lifeskiller and your income is from frequently collecting orders. If you're just a casual grinder then you don't need any of them. However if you're a patient player then you can just collect every two weeks with a loyalty vp, which is what I've been doing for 3+ years and am over 715gs.

Get something straight, Asmon would quit almost no matter what. He's a seasonal, trendy streamer, moving from topic to topic and the currents guide him. BDO ended up on his stream because as much as this might shock some people in this thread, the game is doing well, much better than some of its peers.
So the streamer comes and goes, but we know he won't stay, the cards are already dealt against him. That being said, BDO has a large enough barrier to enough that any players who manage to make it through the filter are welcome in my eyes. The game has been out 7 years. If you can muster up the effort to slog through this grindfest then be my guest. I see this as wholly good. People need to be reminded BDO isn't the shitshow it once was at times, though it's still quite far from perfect. I'm not playing any other MMO and don't plan to, so I guess that says something.
I think the staying power this game has is much better than what it was 5-6 years ago, especially with that old stigma slowly fading away. Though lately it seems like it is fading much faster than it used to, which is quite big for the game considering the absolute state of other MMOs. Can't lie, I really do appreciate whenever a streamer plays BDO because I want to see this game succeed. Even if 10% of those players that follow a streamer who quits stay it's good. I still know people who joined when summit1g or imaqtpie and dyrus played and ended up becoming geared and love this game. It's only up from here BDO bros.

Like you get some bonus but you can only wear certain equip and not other equip? I'm not sure what am I supposed to do because I don't understand what the consequences of what I choose will be

They extended it so there's like 2 months left. Should be more than enough if you play casually.
Season ends in August now but given their recent patterns it'll probably be a few weeks after that before they launch right into another one.
Just make a seasonal character and play the game normally, it'll introduce all the game's systems to you and then at the end dump you into the main game with (hopefully) some idea of where to go next. It's specifically designed as an onboarding experience for new players, though you'll see lots of veterans taking advantage of it because of the benefits it gives.
The server basically just makes sure new, returning or existing players must exist in their own ecosystem, temporarily. The gear you get in this server can eventually be converted to gear you will use on normal servers, once you "graduate".
Season in BDO roughly translates to accelerated leveling and questing. Your best bet is to see what the Black Spirit wants you to do (hit ","), follow your quest log (hit "O" and view the "Main" tab to see the available story quests). Hopefully that points you in the right direction.
Just make a season character and dont think about it.
Seasonal gear is an incredibly good catchup mechanic. It means you cant equip amazing gear you already have on your main, which doesnt matter to you because you're new. It gives you easily upgradable gear and if you dont get filtered and keep going, you can upgrade all your tuvala stuff to PEN which means you'll get TET boss gear once the season ends and it converts your character into a normal character. This lets you get to near endgame stuff pretty fast, while still leaving a path of progression upwards.
While playing on season servers, people cant flag up and gank you like they can on the normal realm. You also get a massive combat XP boost, so you level up like 10x faster once you start grinding.
Goals for a new guy should be familiarize yourself with the UI, get naru gear, smash it to pen to get free pri tuvalu gear. Then you might have to kinda learn the enchanting system
Seasonal. You skip 5000 hours of grinding and get a guarantee-ish pen (max level) armor. Just don't bother with accessories in season. Plus you get some inventory and freebies from free season pass, also the paid one isn't worth it at all. Second. After the season ends you get to keeps your shit and you can wear normal items. Season all the way

Not many Valkyries can wield the Lancia, lorewise. The weapon is heavy and it requires an incredible amount of faith, resolve and an unyielding will in order to master it. Mirror classes in the sense they share a theme and a couple of skills. Other than that mae/musa play differently. Awakening sage also uses a spear, but it's used as more of a catalyst than a spear.

You can freely swap armor between classes. Musa/mae share mainhand and offhand weapons but not their awakening weapon.
As an awakened Musa main I can say it's great. I would however kinda recommend getting used to some other classes first due to the way Musa plays, it's very smooth and some may say basic, so if you were to try some more complicated classes afterwards you might struggle at first to get comfortable with them

So, maegu awak opinions? I think the AoEs are too small, the combo system is interesting but very clunky and the dashes aren't as snappy as i'd like them to be.
The combos are very weird, sometimes i can keep the 10% crit buff permanent while others it expires for no reason, especially when doing A/D+RMB, sometimes you can spin twice with the buff sometimes not. Yes i know dashes remove it. It's piss easy to get it though by just doing W+RMB > RMB > S+RMB, 10% crit damage +20AP plus addons in a second. I can see the class suffering from what awakening nova has, having to do the same short duration prebuff over and over and over again, albeit with a better and easier key input.
So far 7/10, small AoEs, gimmick reliant, high floor but no very high ceiling. Just don't get meme'd by the "teleports behind you" skill in pvp when fighting her.

can't find the flare or getting stuck on the stealth section? flare is random just look around for the glowing spawn points in the area, stealth is moronic like usual don't remember but I think I just ran and got good rng but if you press Q they won't detect you.
Ok. Here's the thing. There's a chance you won't find the flare and you need to let yourself being killed. Also you could find it and counts as not, but it should still technically work. And the last, you have to get on the highest point of the ship, be careful not to fall.

I can't speak to class meta and balance. I'll simply advise you shouldn't focus on what's "good" and rather what looks (and in turn, plays) to your liking. Since you're not committed to a class yet it's a great chance to experiment. Some people are quite literally bound to their sunk cost mains.

Bigger than it ever has been and slowly getting larger. The content is starting to plateau into multiple late-game spots, so you'll have lots to explore and plenty of locations you'll have a mountain of stats to get before you can reasonably access them. The game is fairly wide and somewhat deep in content. There are enough systems and locations to get entirely lost in the RPG elements and lose the MMO aspect of the game. It's that big. Much of it can automated and optimized to the point you still have people who b***h and moan about nothing to do. Autists, the lot of em'.

The game has come a long way. There are lots of catch up mechanisms, notably Season servers make it hilariously easy to get going. Don't stress, there's plenty of opportunities to change course. As a Succesion Witch player, it's kind of meh. Low mobility, low protection, long cast times, no grab. Trash-tier in PvP. It has some decent range abilities, AoE and pretty damn good self-sustain, but that's pretty much it. Can't stand weapon swapping, so I can't comment on the viability of Awakening, which seems to be the popular choice at this moment.

I noticed that people who obsess over needing gear to pvp wouldn't ever join the pvp scene regardless of how much gear they had, they'd be hardcap and still get stomped and simply realize they don't like pvping. Swiping and neeting pve doesn't do anything for you if you don't already know how to pvp.
T1s are the most relevant form of pvp right now if you're interested, and it barely requires any gear. No one does open world pvp and no one does gvgs anymore. Get on a trial succ witch and learn how to pvp with it in battle arena, succ mages are literally one of the best and cheesiest 1v1 classes in the game, better in small scale and even better in large scale. It's the only ranged class that utterly shits on grab classes. If you get good then T1 guilds will be chasing you down
The top pvpers in this game are mostly gearlets, T1 guilds are full of total gearlets who refuse to grind but are just really good at the game. Some of the best pvpers sit in battle arena on characters with less gear than trial characters and still roflstomp, just because they know how the game works. Most of the top 100 aos for several classes haven't grinded in years. T2s and beyond are dead because such a small fraction of the pvpers in this game actually have gear, so you have no excuse to not get into pvp if that's what you want.
Succ Witch is shit at almost all of these. No fricking grab, no mobility, squishy as hell, long-ass stationary cast times. The best is maybe trying to play from afar and nuking people, but even that aspect was changed to make Witch play way more close-up.

Oh yes, the 1000IQ "just manage your cooldowns and play the terrain". The heals apart from maybe Sage's Light are laughable, you'll never get the channel of Lighthouse off. The Teleport is a neat skill, but in the current universe of tons of classes having almost perma dashes, you'll just get ran down easily. You just have no good chase/cc, almost every class can just run circles around you and once you run out of your good cooldowns or you try to cast your skills you're just easy prey, especially when you're this squishy.

Classes generally aren't overall good, but good at certain aspects of the game and bad at others.
Witch is weird where her Awakening is really really good at certain niche endgame spots no one enjoys (Ash and Crypt) and mid to bad at all the other pve spots. She's great at large scale pvp and basically mandatory for a team, but trash at 1v1 and needs to be babysat in small scale. She's good at certain gathering spots, not recommended for hunting, good at boss rush, and not great for sea content.
You can always tag all of your gear on a second character and have lifeskill alts.
I'd compliment Witch with some melee character good at 1v1 and grind spots with a quick ttk. A.Musa, Striker, A.Ranger, S. Guardian, and S.Zerker are all solid alts.

Terrible drops (ring is worthless, trash is also worthless plus terrible agris value) and packs that are 8 miles apart and are strong enough to not evaporate the moment you hit them unless you've got the AP to be grinding anywhere else. Just an overall unfun zone for someone without a hypermobile class and high-end gear of which I had neither when I chose to do it.
I ran the short rotation by Jerrimo for just under 30 hours. Easy. What's the issue? Mansha and Blood Wolves are far more contested and the birds chew through energy. How is it worse than those?

Jetina pen boss armor questline once and Jetina pen accessory for Crescent. Maybe buy caphras to Red Nose level 10 to get ready for Turos grind after you get free pens. You really need DP to do any good grind spots besides Centaurs

You can also grind for compass or map treasure items

I'm assuming your dande is c5, but you grind on succession due to the blackstar mainhand. You should take those caphras out and dump them somewhere else. There's a caphras event going on where you can pull 100% of them out for 1 silver per caphras stone. It'd be a good idea to do this before the event is over. Infinite hp pot is super worth, go for it. it's easy now

With the duo godr ayed + tet jetina crescent and all AP journals done you should be 281 ap mainhand which is fine for orcs.

You can stop at any point and go do whatever you want, but If it's your first character I suggest mashing R until you reach the awakening quest and Valencia questline.
You'll unlock the for of war on the world map for future characters and it will make your life easier in a long run.
Thankfully you only do it once per account.
Every next character you create has an option to skip a good chunk of the story up until Valencia.
I think some key features and neat rewards are locked behind taking the quests for the first time.
The game has a lot of account-wide things like pets, fairies, mounts, ships, inventory extensions, the tag system, etc.

And they give me a boss exchange coupon before I graduate in a kit thing. But other guides say I get that after I graduate but idk if thats outdated for previous seasons. And then I wanna do the garunteed pen thing too but I cant tell if I need to do that during the season while the season pass is up to get the reward.

I think she's around average, but not sure. BUUUUT keep in mind that succ kuno requires a lot of APM and effort compared to other classes with little gain.

People habitually underplay the class to the point they convince themselves their optimized / effective playstyle is also comprehensive. In turn, the vast majority of Rangers don't merely suffer from severe over-estimations of their competency -- they've been hypnotized into believing good enough equates to greatness.
So yes, I'm sure you have a lot of hours on Ranger. A lot of people do. Most are horrific and don't even recognize it.

I think the expansion's actually kind of good. Probably the best one we've had in ages, better than Eternal Winter, better than that dogshit magnus and better than O'dyllita.
The expansion is the kind of shit autists from gw2 and ffxiv love so it bodes nicely with them, while you have the boss rush to break up the monotony for grinders and class autists. Lost Ark players are freed from being forced to do dailies and can grind however much they like. Future content is looking pretty nice while other MMOs have nothing exciting to announce. Good PCs are super cheap nowadays so more people than ever have the fps to play bdo comfortably.

What AP? On my Musa with similar looking loot buffs I was getting around 400mil/h on 3 trees. I was basically hitting the respawn timer for the mobs, if I was on top of my 100%BSR buffs whenever it was ready then I would start going a tad too fast

Two hours for 2% with the 1000% event, most likely the season buff and the regular buffs like 120min, 300%/500%, 100% from book and daily scroll.

Lol it's funny how unicorn has always been the meme horse. They need to buff the water walking and make it limitless and mountable in water if they want the horse to be useful. You should be able to park your horse in the water, do whatever you need to do, then get back on it and leave without having to ever touch grass. Maybe walking on water creates temporary water platforms ala mystic succession quest, that allies can walk on. Could be useful in node wars with a lot of aquatic barriers. Instead of having to play around rivers, lakes and ponds, have the shotcaller shout for a water bridge. Something, anything. t10 dine is so lame.

I am humbly of the belief some account are meant to enhance, some aren't. When you're talking a system that is wholly determined by chance permutations there's little you can do other than have the necessary overhead capital and a frick ton of patience. I'm not going to advocate to give up, it's just that enhancing might as well be the proverbial resource and silver sink with punishing returns. Anything else, at all, is a better use of time than less than optimized enhancing. It might as well come with a warning message that you're about to risk increasing depression and anger. Stupid, but that's the system.
Oh, it's not as if I'm delusional or too emotional about the outcomes of the system. It's high-variance and I understand that. It's more about me just having the bizzare experience of failing to create a high failstack again, when it's pretty much the only reason I am doing it. Like 18 attempts in a row starting at 100+ without even getting to a 240 stack.
And I'm not even complaining about my luck, while I don't really track my success/failure rates, I'd consider my outcomes overall more on the lucky side and the way I'm being screwed aren't even nearly as bad as it could've been, it's just that the current streak feels surreal.

Grinding has a fuzzy but relatively predictable input to output ration. Lifeskilling is likewise, except it even scales as you improve. I actually like the new Green Thumb game when I'm picking flowers because there's some amount of interactivity and benefit if I pay attention and put in some effort.
Enhancing is a dismal science. I guess the great equalizer has to occur somewhere and it's there (and drop chance, nevermind that though). Enhancing blew up my wealth once. Not again. To that I say if you aren't essentially one tapping your shit, then shove your enhancing shit onto the marketplace so the psychotic gambling addicted trillionaires can continue to chase the dragon. Feels almost exactly like a coke habit.
I take enhancing in general more like a bonus that I can afford to lose, so it rarely really matters whether I succeed or fail. If I get it I get it, if I don't I don't and if it's something essential, then I try to maximize the amount of rolls highly enough that I am not too likely to fail and get screwed.
Good attitude to have. Goal-orientation with enhancing is dangerous. Learned me lesson, venting is cathartic and hopefully helps others not be blindsided when attempting it.
Goals are fine, it's more about managing expectations and results. Getting too invested when failing something like 20% attempts 5 times in a row is ultimately silly with the amount of randomness the game has. You roll things so much that it's almost inevitable that you're gonna get fricked real hard. That's just how it works, just be ready for when it happens.

That's how it'll be until around level 50-56 on any class, the gear they give you through the quests are very strong for the area they send you to.
You can try out all of the classes in the "Trial" tab on the character select screen to get a gist of how they play at max level.

This game's been so good to me coming back and it's concerning. I PEN'd my timbs and flames of frosts were just chilling on the marketboard. Free outfits, free bikini, a new shiny prostitutekini, and Maegu awakening is fun. What else did I miss in the last like 10 updates.
The obvious one would be the new zone with the new boss blitz and the new crystals which are really good. There's the +2dp and +1ap from a new adventure log and the main story quest in LotM. You can get the flame for the gloves in a month, 4 resets, since you get a bonus reward from another adventure log each time you kill a new boss.
New cooking recipes, hunting lifeskill zones etc. might want to skim through the patch notes yourself since it's only been 10 updates.
