Do you even play videogames anymore? Or do you just need "the thrill" of anxiously picking PC parts and awaiting on shitty delivery processes, only to run 2 or 3 stupid "Cyberpunk" and "Hogwart's Legacy" benchmarks to never touch any games again because their brains are rotten from reddit and tiktok?
Seriously, look at the achievements page on any platform. I did this on Steam page, and on the average only 8% of people actually complete games, only about 20% of people beat the same level or get the first achievement at all.
I looked at Xbox and Playstation statistics, and the numbers aren't much better.
So is "gaming" nowadays just consooming, watching streamers play, discuss awards and talking about games rather than playing them?
>go on buildapc subreddit
>wonder why everyone is always talking about building PCs
stick to r/cuckold
>goes on a subreddit dedicated to PC gaming
>they are saying the same thing
stick to r/Traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns
>I still have fun playing pokemon games
Yeah here is the problem, utter shit taste and zero videogame literacy, most people never really like videogames, they just wanted to kill some time
Yeah. People who "play" pokemon don't play any videogames. They just fap to pokemon.
what the frick is videogame literacy
Meaningless buzzword 26193, anon. You've seriously got to keep up with the times.
>nooooooo you can't not like murdering people in first person and playing divegrass with the lastest black billionaires
how can you get tired of building PCs? its literallly the best thing in the world. I wish i could build custom PCs for homies as a fulltime job
by not being an autistic consoomer
building pcs is an annoying chore unless you go too deep into case and cooling customisation in which case you're better off learning car customisation so you get more stable and larger income off your autism
>I wish i could build custom PCs for homies as a fulltime job
You mean stealing people's parts and replacing them with shitty garbage that's been collecting dust for year and has an miner installed? Because that's what PC builders do.
>building a PC
that's the reason. PC isn't for games
I can tell you that people who post nonsense like this on Reddit are still putting in 10s of hours a month into their mainstay old reliable choice of live service slop. If they quit doing that they could play the newest single player slop like they were kids again. I would know, I did it for a while.
Black person

why are you on reddit? kys moron.

you cant fool me, moron
pcmasterrace isn't about gaming it's about people jerking off to benchmarks and posting pics of their rigs
I think these people conflate "not enjoying games" as a whole and "not enjoying modern AAA games". Why do you build a top-of-the-line PC? To play the latest and greatest. But these days, when it comes to AAA games, once you strip away the surface layer (story, setting, characters), you're left with basically the same game over and over again. It's no wonder people get sick and tired of it. But if you're still buying into the marketing/hype/expectations, you might not even realize that's what's going on, and so it feels like games as a whole isn't fun anymore
When I built my current PC I did so knowing full well that there are *some* AAA games I wanted to play, e.g. Doom 2016/Eternal, but for most of it I just wanted something that worked well and ran fast so I can emulate and play old games without issues. If you're realistic when you set your goals, you won't be disappointed when you fail to meet them. Expecting modern AAA games to blow you away like games did when you were a kid is not realistic
>Why do you build a top-of-the-line PC? To play the latest and greatest.
You build top of the line pc for either very specific tasks (1%) or to brag about it to other consoomer goyim (99%). If you want to just play games a $1200-2000 pc is enough (would be less if israelite demon spawn didn't frick up the price of every pc component ever)
Fair enough, but I didn't actually mean the best that money can buy - more like $1500+ machine
they're midwits, bro. they're not smart enough to do electrical engineering, but they want to pretend. like their first taste of heroin, their normgroid mind can't comprehend.
>I think these people conflate "not enjoying games" as a whole and "not enjoying modern AAA games".
Yeah pretty much. If you look at discussions about pc or console amongst these normies you'll notice that they tend to imply modern AAA games exclusively - shit like movie-game and marvel slop. I'm not even sure why they latch onto them so much since they completely suck but they've somehow convinced themselves they're kino. Maybe it's cause they're the only things consoles got left. This is probably the most pathetic console gen in history.
>This is probably the most pathetic console gen in history
It really is, even though last gen had barely anything there were still a few games worth playing. But towards the end of last gen it all became the same type of shit, the only big AAA console exclusive (not anymore) this gen that stood out to me was ratchet and clank
I think a bigger issue, for consoles, is the ecosystem as a whole. The games you see in the store and on your dashboard are very curated, and it's only ever what's already popular or what's deemed to be important (i.e. big AAA releases) that you'll be exposed to. It's very different on PC, and I think it's far more common for PC players to play a wide variety of games as a result. I mean, if you want to play an FPS on your PS5, how many would you have to chose from? 10? 25? On PC there are hundreds and hundreds, from as far back as the 90s, all easily obtainable and perfectly playable
But you have to know to look for them
Now consider the average person, who might have a console and a PC, or have friends who only have a console. What games would he hear about? Probably whatever has the most marketing behind it, and what his friends see when they boot up their console. No wonder they're stuck in the AAA swamp. It's more or less an issue of PC literacy - like how some zoomers don't know how a file system works, because they've ever only used a phone
This has probably also contributed to the old game cooties that normalgays self-report, which these days is usually expressed in "aw this game looked so cool, I would buy a remake in a heartbeat". These people won't even play a game as recent as Dark Souls 1. Nevermind Quake, Half-Life, or Unreal.
The industry has done a wonderful job of training their customers to be mindless consumers
>"aw this game looked so cool, I would buy a remake in a heartbeat"
I'm convinced people are saying this just to make me mad every time I see it.
Id play UT99 if they just added some sort of matchmaking and lots advertising.
Because they're wageslaves. Full time waging halts emotional growth and personal reflection, these people are effectively still 18 and haven't realized there's more to life than eat shit sleep work

Nothing to do with PC gaming or anything. Its just those burnt out dopamine receptors from porn addictions. People have warned the coomers about this their whole lives.
>Nothing to do with PC gaming
pure cope. PCgamers are the same people that are willing to pay hundreds of dollars or maybe even a thousand for hardware and nlwill pirate anything software. you don't like to play games, you like console warring and to be a PC master race (second biggest gaming subreddit btw)
>you don't like to play games
Works on my machine 🙂
Games are still fun. It's new games that are complete shit
>Zoomers and young Millennials are finally growing up
>grow up watching le heckin youtubers and streamers play the same 5 games for years on ipad
>be moronic and give them money, cant build my own pc
>fast forward 2 years, still watching the same shit
>finally build pc
>realize i never cared about the games and only cared for the social aspect
>games are sooooo boring now
its not a new phenomena its just the cycle of people growing up and realizing they need to have their own hobbies instead of mooching of others interests. maybe if people tried to be more self aware and tried to not rely on social queues (i know, we're human) we wouldnt have a "mainstream". look back to the wii, everyone had one yet how much did the best selling game do?
Dopamine brain fried manchildren morons.
Just like doing literally everything else in the world, you will get burnt out of it, especially if it’s all you do. Even if you spent money on a gaming PC, your best best is to take months breaks in between to actually enjoy it

Triple A has failed
Long live Indie
Indie has been where all the good games have been throughout then entire history of videogames. there has never been a single good AAA game to have ever come out.
Shadow of the Colossus
Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines
Deus Ex
Halo 2
Rollercoaster Tycoon
Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
Metal Gear Solid 3
Cyberpunk 2077
Pentiment
Dark Souls
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
homosexual homosexual
Most of those are not AAA. AAA is budget related, a game made by O N E person like Rollercoaster Tycoon is not AAA, nor is something like SotN which was a 2D game releasing against FF7, which is the first AAA title.
SotN was made by Konami, it's definitely not indie just because it's 2D you dumbass
Indie wasn't even mentioned in the post you're replying to, just that most of those games aren't AAA and rather AA
>FF7, which is the first AAA title
False, star fox
>Halo 2
>Cyberpunk 2077
>Pentiment
newbaby homosexual
Most of those games were released when AAA wasn't even a thing and videogame industry was considered a volatile high risk investment and such an embarrassment to have on your portfolio that voice actors wanted to be left out in the credits.
>Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines
calling any troika game AAA is bizzare
i think they mistyped BBB
most of those are AA
Zero of those games meet the AAA standards of modern marketing except Cheese Pizza 2077, which isn't good either since it's an empty world game.
Armored Core 6
DOOM 2016
Batman: Arkham Asylum
Death Stranding
Dragon Quest 11
not to discount your post as someone who has 100%'d several of the games on your list but all of these look/play fine on a pc i bought for $350 on craigslist 4 years ago.
everspace / everspace 2 look fine on a gtx 1060, even.
All those games (besides ac6) came out over 4 years ago. Arkham asylum came out in 2009. My point was that good AAA games have come out before, against what the first anon has claimed. I agree that not much recently in AAA has interested me in the past couple years, but I would also say Elden Ring, Sekiro, Arkham City/Knight, Halo 3/Reach, are all at least "good" games. I think Ghosts of Tsushima, Lost Judgement, and Super Mario Odyssey all have some merit. I also have a soft spot for Black Flag but I haven't played it in years.
It's mostly a marketing term to show how much money was put into development and (especially) advertising, but companies like Ubisoft have been talking about their upcoming "AAAA" games like Skull and Bones (lol) and Beyond Good and Evil 2 (not happening). Microsoft is calling their new Perfect Dark "AAAA" as well.

Current year is always best year for gaming. You have access to the latest hardware and every game that has existed. No one is forcing you to play the latest game. I can play older games at the highest quality settings and get fps rates that the highest level hardware of the time could only dream of. The selection has never been better. The biggest argument is that there are so many games, many online games have died in terms of playerbase which is a shame. Most gamers have garbage taste which means good games get slept on while mind bogglingly boring gamerslop get the biggest playerbase numbers.
Gaming has never been more accessible than now and these homosexuals keep finding reasons to b***h about. With much less than $1000 worth of hardware, you have access to 98% of all games ever made in history, FOR FREE! And you can enjoy them in much higher quality than what the original hardware was capable of.
Storage is so fricking cheap, you can literally keep complete libraries of entire platforms for yourself and actually get to own then, unlike the cucked console pleb definition of "ownership" on their shitty discs.
There has never been a AAA Silent Hill game.
Nah triple A used to have its good titles.
That hasn't really been the case anymore in recent years though.
You just needed a game as autistic as you are
It's that easy.
Who's this absolute cutie
A greedy israelite that made diet dorf fort for casuals and redditors that charges $25 every two years for mods that have been out for five.
And it's still the best game in the modern day
Seethe And buy HIS book
>Best game
>literally dorfs but worse
Seed and hit yourself in the head with a shovel until you can no longer read
>this game is bad because its similar to another good game
You certainly dont need to hit yourself with a shovel since theres no brain left to damage
Have you ever considered that if that were true, no one would buy the expansions? Instead, people actually do buy them because they're generally fun and take ideas from mods but implement them better, and people are happy to pay for good content.
Much like how Rimworld started as a very simple Dorf clone but has slowly closed the gap in complexity whilst remaining vastly more accessible and convenient.
Tons of people buy Fifa every year = Fifa games are great!
Go the frick to bed Ty.
its funny because I dont mind AAA
I play one AAA game per year, I play indies non stop
indies motherfricking mog, just like with comics, the old pros are left in the dust like what iconic and kingwolf did
Any mods?
I almost never buy triple A shit and I game as frequently as I please.
My PC mogs most of Ganker
Basically this but with much more autistic and much less shit games.
Thoughts on upcoming medieval not-Rimworld?
I bought his book
it was actually good
any memorable takeaways from the book?
Him and ConcernedApe are my two favorite developers. Just cool dudes that made their dream game and honestly should be leading this industry instead of being indie devs.
>A week has gone by where I just wake up, launch rimworld and go to bed at 6am
reddit
I'm sorry but if you like Rimworld you don't have the right to an opinion.
I haven't bought AAA in like 8 years and been slowly realizing that
I don't think i've ever paid more than 40 dollars for a game. Elden Ring was a must have, but also wasn't as expensive. I remember Doom 2016 and that was it. Everything else has been indie or free to play or "free".
The only AAA games I've bought in the past decade was Capcom and Nintendo. Everything else is slop
I've been playing vidya to my own detriment for over three decades with no end in sight.
people are having more fun on their PCs when AI than games these days
its a much better use of GPUs
once GPU silicon becomes enterprise-only due to supply/demand issues, we'll hopefully see an era where low-poly cozy games become the norm since we'll just get integrated graphics at best
*with AI than games
yes I still enjoy vidya
other people not enjoying vidya is not my problem
Doesn't affect me, I only play video games to stop the atrophy of reflexes
Thanks for confirming my theory that redditors are moronic. I do not need any further proof so please stay there, no need to post any more screenshots.
Its normal to stop liking toys and videogames as you grow up
Ganker is and has always been a den of nerds, we like childish things for different reasons, some of us are ugly, other autistic, others were screwed up with, others are utterly obsessed with art over society etc
So if you no longer find games fun congrats get out there and be a family man because I sure wont
have a nice day moron.
>be on Ganker
>be aghast when you find out you have autism
>Literally cannot comprehend people being interested in different things
>Calls anyone else autistic
i KNOW im autistic. you are still in denial
>Its normal to stop liking toys and videogames as you grow up
no it isnt
cope seethe and dilate because you will never be a woman
>Its normal to stop liking toys and videogames as you grow up
so Netflix, tv, and Facebook is reserved for mature adults, right?
Normal people invest way less in fotm streaming trash than you and I do in thinking that their taste is shit.
Unless what? You imagine getting in moronic arguments on 4chins when you have a kid that needs to do homework and be fed?
>get out there and be a family man
getting married is not worth it nowadays. check the statistics men have given up on being family men
whats a "toy"? are cars toys? drones? mtn bikes? how about a basket ball or a basebal bat?
>get married
>she cheats on you
>you get divorced
>lose half of your shit
>at least I am not playing with toys !
it's hard to force yourself to start, but if the game is good i can keep playing all day
I play vidya on my PC. Thing is, I wait for a sale on any newer titles I'm interested in and the talk has passed by the time I buy and play them. If talk about an upcoming game on Ganker, I'll be told to buy an ad.
>reddit thread
>genuine replies
Why don't you all just frick off and go back there?
I was here before you, so no. Feel free to cry about though.
This was me until Helldivers released. i finally enjoy vidya again
so you're a normgroid who needs social upcummies to enjoy gaming. got it.
pretty much. normalgays can't enjoy a game unless it's currently trending on social media and all of their friends are playing it.
Playing gacha tbh, not surprised that non-gacha players are so bored. No good devs
Blackpill: you are more pathetic than the people you are trying to troll
It's not trolling, it's copypasted bait. There is no effort or creativity involved.
Nah Black person, I've been enjoying Terraria modded. morons who spend their time on social media are the problem.
Tiktok ruined an entire generation. If you present them a one hour game they're gonna say it's too long
I like both. Building machines like an autist is fun. I love helping my buddies pick out parts within their budgets. I also love playing games, I'm playing DQ8 right now. On top of that, I love shitposting here. I dunno how you Black folk can hate vidya, the aspects of vidya (like picking parts or consoles), and the community of vidya, but still be here.
As for the steam/console completion thing, it's filled with normalgays most of which only play games for the social aspect and actually don't like games, which means that it's the same as it always was.
TL;DR normalgays are the majority and they don't play games
I haven't touched my PC build for 7 years. The only reason I'm not playing many games currently is because I'm too busy with uni
>spend hundreds building new PC
>only to run the same games my current PC runs, but better looking
I'd rather save this money
That's why I've not upgraded anything (apart from getting a bigger SSD) for the kast 6 years.
I've built 3 PCs in my life and each time I've followed the purchase with a lot of playing vidya and then slowly lost interest in the whole PC component circlejerk of benchmarks and so on until I'm completely out of the loop. Then after 4 or 5 years my PC starts to feel old and I gradually start browsing tech sites again and become more and more in the loop again until I pull the trigger on upgrades. If you don't play games... why would you build an expensive PC? You can spend half the price and get a perfectly passable office PC. And for those bored with games, just check out indies. There are so many good pirateable games out there. It's like being stuck in a huge library and complaining about not being interested in any of the books. Just go and have a look.
I presume this anticipation of building a new PC is the exact same phenomenon as the anticipation of trading game keys for other game keys. I find an interesting game which has been bundled so it has keys around and spend days trying to make a good trade for it, then immediately lose interest as soon as I redeem the fricking thing.
>is the exact same phenomenon
as incels wanting a girlfriend, not realizing it's like having an overgrown puppy with mental issues.
huh
Lots of games, but you run into walls in places that winds up sucking some of the enthusiasm out.
Example: I played south park stick of truth. I enjoyed that one - it was pretty fun, rather simple but solid, visually appealing, and an all-around good time.
I started fractured but whole two days ago and I've yet spend more than twenty minutes on it. Everything about from the combat system, the user interface, the animation(?!), etc, just feels so god damn fricking ubislopped, that it sucked my motivation out and I'm not in the mood to play something else either.
Everyone agrees its worse than the first
Personally I didnt even finish stick
If it was only worse than the first, that wouldn't have been preferable, but still acceptable and (probably) playable. But look at this shit.
The top(stick) is pretty simplistic, but it looks good and not exactly like a lot of other shit you see. It's fairly nice as far as it goes. It meshes well with south park's visual style overall.
Then on the bottom(fractured), you've got something that looks like it was a reused template from 50 other team GaaSers. In places it tries to be a little stylistic while still looking hospital-tier sterile, and in others just the most basic b***h text it can. The pop-ups in game look almost like system popups, and the colors are so layered and complex, unlike south park style.
When you move from one to another, it's a shittier situation than just one game being "worse" than the other. It's one of those times where you can really feel a distinction of soul vs soulless, and it kills your gaming mood altogether.
Forgot image.
man, frick...
stick of truth was peak soul
wish it was 10 times longer
combat was simple but had some depth
I sometimes pit off playing a new game even after I've installed it, actually starting them can be a hurdle if it's some big RPG with lots of mechanics I'll need to learn. Did it with both Baldurs Gape 3 and Pathfinder
pc gays dont really enjoy video games, what else is new?
Most people are just waiting for their anticipated vidya to come out I believe. I do think a significant percentage of Ganker is casuals that didn't even play many games in the first place and that they're probably the ones shitposting the most, especially about politics.
I got into a lot of vidya and a lot of the companies that made the vidya I liked either messed up or got messed up, and returning to the same old games eventually feels boring. I don't have as much drive to play New Vegas as I once did many years ago even if it still holds up, and I find myself playing Fallout 4 more than I do NV because I've already played through NV pretty thoroughly, whereas in Fallout 4 only this summer I actually finished all of the main quests for achievement purposes (they sucked). I want to play modded Terraria with friends but the mods somehow make the game lag way worse than normal.
idk man im having fun with uncharted 1 on ps5
nah, it's just that vast swaths of normalgays were pulled into the gaming sphere with ease of access and pandering + fomo and friends
some slowly realize they really don't give a shit about gaming past bleepbloop candy crush garbage or whatever their specific AIDS of choice is
and since they ballooned the industry out since the Wii days, as more people "stop gaming" it's gonna look like people are stopping - but those people were barely regular gamers to begin with lmao
every pc "gamer" on here just plays asshomosexuals, mmorpgs, or ancient shit. because there are no new -PC exclusives worth touching in decades.
yesterday i
>worked
>played sf6
>played death must die
>played some shitty card games
>set aside some money for SaGa Emerald Beyond
The only games I can't get into anymore are games that I feel like I have to do research before I even start playing like BG3. I don't want to choose stats and passives and shit before I even start playing and know how anything works. Frick off with that shit. At most the only thing you should be picking before you start a game is class and race.
likely a symptom of depression. Or normalgays from reddit don't actually like games but like the false feeling of a reddit community where they feel like they're playing games. But also, lets be honest, shits much worse nowadays compared to 10-20 years ago.
unironically spend more time using my 3090 build for AI slop than for gaming. nothing coming out that is worth playing that interests me.
>build a gaming PC
>refuse to game
Give it to someone who will game, like me
once you get a pc you stop gaming.
it's not a meme. pc is too distracting to game
Yeah too busy having sex with it
If you can't stop yourself from watching youtube or whatever, then you also can't stop yourself from looking at your phone when console gaming
most triple A games are dumb movies
at least japanese vn are honest about the lack of gameplay
These are 1 monitor shitters.
>build pc because you hear its cool
>instead of building a pc because you want to use it for various reasons including gaming
Only mindless fomo gays do things because they think it's what's popular. I was fine playing tf2 on my shitty pc until I decided I wanted to play more intensive games so I upgraded.
>don't play AAA games
>Don't have this problem
Skill issue.
I just play old games I can emulate on my toaster. really nothing good new coming out these days. I used to buy games new day one, but have been burned far too many times and just gave up trying to support devs, when my money doesn't even matter anyhow. for certain new games I'll just watch a longplay, like more cinematic games like uncharted, etc. when I don't really care much about actually playing them.
as someone who has mostly been playing master of orion 2 and heroes of might and magic 3 this year
i suggest you try songs of conquest or stars in shadow.
>So is "gaming" nowadays just consooming, watching streamers play, discuss awards and talking about games rather than playing them?
It's honestly disgusting.
Most of my friends have 400+ games in their ps4 library and don't play any of them.
Just sit on fallguys for a couple hours then put on youtube and pass out.
Modern games are unironically shit. Especially and I mean especially MMOs. The "PC Gamer" that grew up wanting a super PC got one and when they did most games are trash and so they lose interest. Gaming is actually way worse than it was 10 years ago
PCgaming isn't gaming.
PCgaming is about spending money and brag about it.
From hardware (which keeps ballooning in price because they buy it anyways), to digital games and not owning anything, to subscriptions, microtransactions etc.
They and xbots have popularized the most cancerous shit in gaming and keep ruining gaming for everyone.
>It's PC & Xbox's fault!
Nintendo and Sony have done the same amount of shit to gaming than the aforementioned have. Get out of here.
Yes, way later after seeing americans are actually buying into all that bullshit from pc and xbox.
>It was way later!
>It was America's fault!
Just stop. Sony and Nintendo did all sorts of scummy shit; same as Atari, Sega, etc. Stop this revisionist bullshit anon.
I mainly like indie games
The truth is that AAA games are actually just shit, most series have been regressing hard to appeal to people who don't like games, sure they look good but they largely have marvel movie tier soundtracks, dumbed down game mechanics, busy UIs, and storys that amount to cool events happening with no greater picture/journey in mind
The best part is that indies are cheaper and don't need strong parts to run, and don't have cancerous drm/kernel anticheats that ruin the performance of your game and steal data
I, Alexander Smithovich from Tennessee oblast am of demoralize and do not like having hobbies anymore. Campaign of demoralization is belongs to success good job
>Do you even play videogames anymore?
I just finished the new content in Ultrakill's latest update.
If I was a dumbfrick normie that only played AAA games I would hate gaming too. There can be good new AAA games, I liked Rebirth because it's essentially Final Fantasy 7 themed Yakuza but most of them are shit. AA and indie are where most of the fun is to be had. Multiplayer games have become a trap because of skill based matchmaking, singleplayer games are generally more fun and balanced.
israelitepill:
Due to the israeli collapse nobody CAN make games anymore.
Evil cannot create it can only subvert and destroy
I was like this but with a tenga egg
I got so horny thinking about buying my first wienersleeve and then I jerked off with it twice and didn't care for it.
Might be because I have my foreskin, in hindsight these things are probably meant for dryhead cutgays
tenga onaholes are not good. the eggs in particular aren't great and are mostly a meme, tenga's appeal was that their products are disguised as to not look like onaholes but now they're meme products so everyone knows what they look like. the flipholes still blend in though.
im absolutely the same way with sex toys like that, i kinda want to get an autoblow but nothing has been able to beat just tugging on it.
also unclipped so there maybe some validity to that.
I got an actual fleshlight but it practically overstimulates me. It feels too good, plus the small overhead of cleaning it + drying it is a hassle, so I skip using it on most days since I just want to get my nut off and continue onwards
i literally just got done playing Pacific Drive, I think you just need to take a break from the internet, or keep scrolling through reddit.
Or literally anything but being a massive homosexual and posting shitty projecting threads would be considered an improvement.
I have a high end rig and i always 100% my games, but its true the games that NEED such expensive pc parts are non existant, i can see a zoomer getting excited for benchmarks then realizing theres fricking nothing to play since zoomers hate old games
>be me
>build a pc in 2020
>play video games all day every day
>love pc gaming
Sounds like a bunch of idiots wasted their money.
They're probably either pirates that downloaded a shit load or people who bought a shit load of games and are suffering from choice paralysis. It can be REALLY REALLY hard to start something or get into something if you have a billion games you're all sorta interested in.
i mean i can appreciate choice paralysis but thats what shitposting on Ganker until you see a game you like on your second monitor is for.
yes I haven't been sleeping too well because playing too much dragon's dogma and unicorn overlord.
>bannerlord lost warband's sovl
>think to myself that it's all over
>start playing gacha games to ease the pain of waiting for it to become good
>qts everywhere
>starsector updates
>ditch all gacha for it
i found the type of games i like.
crapcom fricking over DD2 sucks and indicates that they will also frick up MH wildes.
it sucks but games worth playing are few and far in between.
i bought rdr2 a couple of years ago for 20$ and although i enjoyed the hunting immensely and spent too much time hunting, i regret buying it because of the moronic launcher that takes forever to launch.
all in all, i still enjoy games but games nowadays suck due to technical issues (rock* loading on startup and DD2 running like shit) or gameplay or woke issues.
I still play vidya and I still love games and I'm 31 going on 32 a bit later in the month. Not my problem that homosexual redditBlack folk and other normie trash only indulge in mental illness and not in the actual hobby. I talk about vidya stuff with a friend almost every day. From making fun of Kojima for being a gay to fighting game news to other shit we like. Normies being the vast majority of consumers that support the decline of the industry isn't my problem. I have a whole library of classic games to go through and more modern titles too. Actual skill issue. Ganker is full of these gays that don't give a frick about video games but since they've spent so much time in here they just never leave and shit up the board.
>Do you even play videogames anymore?
Yes
>Seriously, look at the achievements page on any platform
The platforms I play on don't have achievements
I have an 8TB drive full of basically every video game ever made before 3D consoles, as well as significant collections of 3D console games (those get super chunky if you want to collect a lot). Do I play them every day? Absolutely not, but I've definitely gone back and enjoyed lots of games I missed or games I loved as a kid.
Currently I'm in the middle of a Storywealth Fallout 4 playthrough (I dunno, Youtube algorithm fed me some videos on it, and I decided I wanted to shoot stuff for a while).
Obviously, PoE league so I'm playing that a lot too.
I've been doing Helldivers with my art friends whenever we get a chance. I also have an ongoing, but very slow, Darkest Dungeon modded playthrough with them. We also did some Monster Hunter World here and there.
I put like a solid two weeks into Dragons Dogma 2. Not finished yet, but just trying to explore and collect everything
Oh also I did get the urge to start a modded Rimworld playthrough a little while ago too. I enjoy doing that maybe once a year, ish.
Oh, and I do some Synthetik runs every so often when I want a break from work for a bit.
And all of that is just since like February.
I played a bunch of Survivors-style games, Deep Rock Survivor, Death Must Die, etc.
I started a modded Cyberpunk 2077 playthrough a while back but dropped it because I wasn't having fun.
no, i play more than ever. this happens to consolegays who need to be told what hyped game to play. PC is about exploration and choosing from the thousands of almost every game ever made and consolegays-converted-PCgays can have this problem
Ain't got a decent PC and probably won't for a long time, I still have a lot of fun. Just this month I beat:
>Paranormasight: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo
>Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 with the patch that makes the two ultra expensive wanderers actually accessible
>Grandia
>Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks
I'm also going to start Tales of Destiny: Director's Cut on PS2 and Soul Nomad pretty soon, maybe Ogre Battle 64 (but my rig hates N64 emus for some reason lots of audio stutter) and waiting on Echo Night: Beyond to be fixed on PCSX2. I got tons more vidya to play, downtime at work helps me zen out so I can enjoy vidya more that poster is probably depressed.
>Do you even play video games anymore
Yes
I'm playing OSRS right now, finishing up a slayer task while I type this

I don't think it's gamers or anything else other than the fact that gaming is dogshit nowadays. Pretty games don't mean shit if they are shallow and boring.
People are moronic
They somehow needed the guise of gaming to justify their want to build a powerful PC without realizing that some people just want to build powerful PCs.
I'm a bit of both really.
I feel it. I emulated too close to the sun is how I like to think of it. Before I had access to a pc games were a limited resource, something to care about. Nowadays I've played more games more quickly than I could have ever done naturally thanks to my pc. Occasionally I try to hype myself by downloading some more games, setting up mods, whatever but it's worthless. If I was destined to only play 300 games in my entire life then I'd burnt through them all in a few short years. Now I can't even bring myself to play them. I'm just sick of them. That much choice and availability killed it for me. I'm an drunkard but if I could will it into my hand at a moments notice I'd either die quickly or be sick of it too. The only thing keeping it going is that there's a wait time involved, effort of some sort, until my next drink. I can talk about games, I'm familiar with them, but there's nothing to see. I've played what feels like a lifetimes worth of entertainment in what was maybe 3 years. The same thing happened to me with poptarts. Ate so many of them in a one month period I just didn't like them any more. I've eaten them sometimes since but the spark is gone, I usually don't even finish the package, so there's the food analogy
Go do something else for a while, maybe pick up a creative hobby. After a while those humdrum games will feel novel again
Modern games are trash.
I have a mid-range PC by todays standards but I don't need to upgrade for 5+ years at this rate
(9900k, 2080ti, 1080p 240hz)
BLACKPILL: You're a gay moron. Go back.
A guy buying shit with money from his new professional job it turns out he'll never have time to use is very common
make they should stop playing slop, propaganda/homosexualry games and remakes, i have a good PC and i enjoy playing good games, some indies, old games and emulate at 200 fps
quite the opposite, I never understood how people could be so into building PCs and remembering all the moronic naming schemes for parts and shit. I can't even tell you the stuff I have in mine, gotta hwinfo it.
been 5 years and it's able to run DD2 at the lowest settings at 30fps so I reckon I'm good for the next half decade.
>Steam
>achievement stats
>forum posts
So we don’t really have a case. We’re just goong by zillenial online meta stats? Wild. Are they able to track my 40+ hours I did in my STALKER games on my GOG account? Can they account for the hundreds of hours on my emulators??
You're an irrelevant minority from publishers' perspective or even in the scope of this discussion. There's definitely a noticeable pattern of majority of consumers buying games just to never finish them or drop them within refund window due to lack of engagement
I play games every day, maybe if you spent less time browsing leddit you’d play more
I'm playing a video game right now
There's no
>NO ONE GAMES ANYMORE
There's just
>I'm a gaaaaaaymer!!!! >.<
But it was just a trend pushed by the vidya industry to "appeal to a wider audience" despite being a niche boddy, and now they slowly realize they never liked video games to begin with.
The mistake of many also is to buy a high end PC and expect to have fun from the latest games. But the latest games are trash, I mostly play old games.
Come home, Commander.
The tropies/achievements thing has been a trend since trophies/achievements exist. You can pretty much see how small the statistics of PS3 platinum trophies are even today more than 15 years since they came out. It helps that most trophies are usually bullshit achievements that require stupid grinding or wheezing the frick out of the game, but the reality is that most players never gave a shit about finishing videogames. Hell, you can see this from the early days even. How many people actually took the effort to finish the games they played on Arcade machines? Most of the time you just used all the spare change and call it a day wherever you reached.
I only phased out of playing vidya because I decided to MAKE vidya instead, got a couple projects I'm slowly doing on the side here and honestly prefer it, despite the monotony and hassles I'm mostly used to by now. Nice being on the other side like I'd always dreamed of even if at the indie level.
I still play games in my 30s but I rarely finish them. It must be a very good game with amazing character writing and development to keep me engaged. Usually, the moment I figure the mechanics and systems behind the game and they start being repetitive - I drop the game. Sometimes I'm so tired and burned out from work and other responsibilities, I just run some older slop that I'm used to like Battlefield 1 and play for fun shutting my brain off for few hours.
But I agree, buying some overpriced CPU and GPU just to see bigger number in the most recent slop you drop in 30 minutes is mental illness.
Overall it feels like games nowadays are too complicated or too competitive and thus toxic. I don't like the fact that I can feel angrier at the end of my gaming session than before it if I lose few rounds in mp games.
How many ps5s and xbones get turned on only like once or twice a week for fifa or blacksket ball? This goes for all gaming platforms. Stop being a homosexual.
I have the will to play games, but I find it hard to start new games, if a game doesn't hook me in 30 to 45 minutes I usual stop playing and come back later. Hell even elden ring took me a while to get into before it hooked me and I played it until the end.
I've been saying this for a while
Console gaming you're forced to just sit there with a controller in hand and engage with the product and vision on a system that's already been designed for it.
PC gaming it's just far easier to get distracted with a myriad of shit like the building process, mods, online communities and all that at the tap of a button which creates this disconnect with the art in question and inhibits your ability to engage properly with it and other games in future.
This is a problem in general with media consumption now with the advent of smartphones and streaming; attention spans are getting more and more fricked. Even I find it hard to engage with a film if I'm sitting at my computer watching it because it's so easy to get distracted by a wayward thought or trigger. Even television was this to movies which is why tv shows are designed to be imbibed with a minimal amount of attention, mostly by housewives in and out of the kitchen making dinner; it's why it's so mindless and low quality compared to film.
It's why consolegays tend to be normalgays but PC players are probably 7 times out of 10 completely degenerate headcases.
>But tendies are also complete schizos
It's very easy to emulate Nintendo games, not so much the other systems.
Moe was right in that episode of the Simpsons; the modern world has a kind of "swishifying" effect on the mind that we're not designed for. Greater awareness of the world oddly enough creates an even greater disconnect. Instead of engaging with and understanding one piece of art for a while you have maybe a vague understanding of a lot of things and that sort of fricks with the brain.
I dunno, maybe I've gone off track here but I think that's just kind of the design philosophy of console games.
I don't think that's true anymore. It used to be - it's why you have people like AVGN saying that computers are for work rather than play - but things have changed. A good example is how so many modern games will have news updates or social-media feeds as part of their main menus. When you start a game like Doom Eternal, you don't get a themed menu that makes you excited about getting to play the game. Instead you get a notification that some DLC is out, or that a new season has started, or that you unlocked some random cosmetic. It's no longer about immersing the player in the experience, but about breaking through the noise of their everyday life
I think the reason why modern UIs are so soulless is because they're quite literally designed with smart phones in mind. They uses the same design language to make it easier to dip in and out, just like how excessive on-screen prompts and hints are there to allow a player to come back after not having played for a while. Developers assume their games are low priority, and design them accordingly. It's also why so many games play almost identically - because it's simply what people are already familiar with, lowering the risk of having the game rejected by a player who "just want to relax" rather than experience something new
The result is that people simple care less, and even those that will wax poetic about some new game are unlikely to ever take the time to actually finish it. The average player doesn't finish 90% of the games they play - and that's from a survey from 2011, I doubt it's risen since. The art of sitting down and focusing on something has been lost, and I don't think it matter if you're on PC or console
https://web.archive.org/web/20240218091823/https://kotaku.com/nine-out-of-10-will-not-finish-the-game-they-are-playin-5832450
>game get boring as an adult
I used to think this way, until I tried old games. It turned out that I don't like newer games. I don't know why.
I played OpenTTD for four hours today
I still play plenty of games a year, why are all you gays so whiny
How am I supposed to update a pirated version of a game if the torrent for the update is dead?
My setup is optimized for gooning
The answer is simple, the standard pc environment is not fun to game on.
Would you rather watch a movie in your living room with a recliner and surround sound or hunched over at a desk with headphones?
There's ways around certain stuff, but if you wanna come home after work and game do you really want fricking windows updates popping up, driver issues, and broken games to deal with?
Also...pc games aren't really fun? Sure strategy games are cool and all, but let's not forget the most popular pc games are fricking LoL and dota 2. I feel like people who play those games are on a different planet. You go back and emulate your favorite games or run better versions of them on your PC but then that wears out the luster.
>Nooooo I must have physical copies to go with my funko pops playing on PC isn't copacetic with my LGBTQN lifestyle reeeeeee save me Black personman!
Do poor gays really experience this? I built a pc this year by just picking the newest/most expensive parts. Within 2 days it was here already assembled. The 'research' was more of a hassle. Just go with the best possible tech. Anything else is poorgay cope
I've never ran a benchmark in my life, what moronic shit are you saying no I don't relate at all
Everyone knows PC "gamers" don't actually play games. They just upgrade their epic rigs, endlessly tweak settings and watch streamers play games for them. Real gamers play on console.
>So is "gaming" nowadays just consooming
its always been the case that less than 10% of people beat games, moron. It was the PS3/360 era that added these dumb trophies and cheeves and unveiled to the world how few people even bother finishing games.
I have cycled through the same games basically for 7 years now
One gay posts on Reddit about not enjoying gaming
>GAMING IS DYING GUYS
Frick off
It's just snoys, tendies, and xb0ts.
They have no games nor wombs so they come here from reddit to try and spread their misery.
You know something good about having a shitty childhood? You learn to appreciate life and simple things get you happy
I'm a gamer since I was like 7 and I was very depressed for a long time (really really shitty childhood)
I became an adult 3 years ago, started working, started working out, began looking better
Now I can buy my things, I'm not as angry as I was, I'm 20 now and working hard 6 days every week
and I have so much fun with videogames, I cry reading visual novels, I fantasize about the games I play, it's all incredible, having to work and taking care of my house only made me love videogames more..... I play much less than I did back then, but now every time I play it's something special.
Based
Gear Acquisition Syndrome at it's finest. Kinda fun how PCs turned into the next cool thing just with few RBGs and "gaymen" label.
The PC "gamer" strikes again
Maybe VG are becoming a niche hobby again and normies are finally getting fed up and moving on to some new fad. It was about time.
100% this. don't forget that nobody actually plays games to have fun. they only play games to cope with their miserable lives. people who are actually happy and having fun don't play video games. in fact, playing games actually makes you feel more shit because you feel guilt that you're wasting your time and gaining nothing out of it
Ah yes, I should feel guilty because I didn't make massa- I mean the Boss Man more money with my life...
wagecuck bad no mean make game good ok? there are lots of other ways to actually get a sense of purpose out of life
>purpose
Unless you are suffering because of it, "purpose" is a meme.
Of course that's people like you, OP and his fellow redditors who play games as means of escapism, to watch an epic film except you're the protagonists. You have no understanding that video games are toys, and even if you do, you think that's a bad thing.
This is projection, seeing pleasuring yourself as some sort of sin is peak serf mentality.
it actually is. I don't play games to have fun anymore. games don't make me happy anymore. I only play games to cope with the misery of life and to not think about killing myself 24/7. and most people are like this. playing games for "le fun" is a fricking meme. video games are not fun.
>video games are not fun
you're just old, Black person. maybe go get your dick sucked or drink yourself to sickness just to reset your brain. walk into traffic and suffer a near miss to get your blood pumping again. go sky diving. something... but then again the industry is a pile of shit now and they couldn't make a game to save their lives. maybe there is nothing left to make. maybe the best years are behind us. shit, maybe we should just rope because there's nothing better coming.
how the frick is gaming even a sustainable hobby? people who have time to play games (kids) don't have money for games, and people who have money (adults) don't have time for games.
>Near 200 reply long thread for a fricking leddit post
>Said reddit post is actively about not playing video games
How come when I click on Ganker, I get reddit and twitter?
Ganker is a subreddit
After building my PC I have never played more games than now. These are older games that I didnt have to ability to play until now.
LITERALLY A FRICKING REDDIT THREAD. JUST DIE YOU FRICKING moron. GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM. NO ONE CARES.
I always get worried I'm turning into one of those homosexual "jaded gamers" because I don't like anything I try out but then I find something fun and immediately sink fifty hours into it. Turns out I've just gotten pickier.
post norwood or gtfo
So much of being a gamer is learning the difference between a game you enjoy, and a game you like the idea of enjoying. The hardest part is convincing yourself to play the former rather than the latter.
And the harder part is realizing that sometimes you'd rather just watch a shitty isekai or something, since it hits all the same brain cells that gaming does.
>And the harder part is realizing that sometimes you'd rather just watch a shitty isekai or something
kys
nah, new games are shit and I'm a zoomer
I play a lot of retro and indie games and AAA that came out 6-10 years ago
>I did this on Steam page, and on the average only 8% of people actually complete games, only about 20% of people beat the same level or get the first achievement at all.
There's 2 reasons, 1 people buy on sale all the time increasing their backlog. For me oftentimes by the time I get to the game in question I'm in the mood for something else.
Reason number 2 is that I buy and try a lot of games even past the point of refundability. I usually dump a lot of time into very few games, it's rare for me to enjoy something only for 10 hours and then move onto the next thing.
>Seriously, look at the achievements page on any platform. I did this on Steam page, and on the average only 8% of people actually complete games, only about 20% of people beat the same level or get the first achievement at all.
>I looked at Xbox and Playstation statistics, and the numbers aren't much better.
when will this meme die? its not true at all. just looking at PSN percentages,
>TLoU Part 2 is at 58% finished main story
>Spider Man 2 is at 56.5% finished main story
>FF16 48.6% finished main story
>GoW Ragnarok 45.9% finished main story
>Forspoken 33.8% finished main story
>Horizon Forbidden West 29.8% finished main story
>FF7 Rebirth 27.2% finished main story
clearly the 8% number is pulled from your ass, and a whole lot more than 20% just beat the first mission like you say. pic related is a bunch more data from 2021, but you can easily look up updated numbers as well https://psnprofiles.com/games
>200 replies on a moronic plebbit thread

Why do you homosexuals keep posting OPs like this now? Like literal reddit topics
I literally spent the entire day playing fricking Sonic Adventure.
always be gaming
all non gamers get the rope
Why do depressed losers post?
why do moron Black folk like you breathe?
lmao says the one too heckin depressed to play video games.
i'm not, stop projecting
if anything it's normie scum like you that doesn't play shit outside of maybe the newest overhyped goyslop for an hour
>cries about projection
>does it
lmao
>saaaaar u are the one who is sad!
demoralization propaganda israelitejeet
>more projection
Starting to doubt your claims about not being a depressed loser afraid of video games.
i think your reddit boyfriend is calling, maybe you should answer. israelitejeetbot
>more projection
>no u
Naawwwwww is lil depressed piss baby pissing herself cause she isn't getting the heckin wholesome chungus respect for her fear of playing video games?
this is a bot post. disregard.
Absolutely livid cause you got called what you are.
nice work gpt4. no one cares.
bye now.
>hey guys I went to Reddit and it made me wonder why everyone is a troony and a homosexual
Hmmmmmmmmmm
i don't understand these people. do they not have the foresight of knowing if gaming is still fun or not before they spend 5k dollars on a decked out modern rig?
buying the gear / supplies needed to perform a task and actually doing it are two separate hobbies
/thread forever
>buying stuff is a hobby
off yourself israelite
it is for some people, not me personally its just society that behaves like this
are you an imbecile that you think everything everybody says applies to how they do things in their lives? have you no capacity at all for abstract thought?
>have you no capacity at all for abstract thought
first part of your sentence answered the second, bruh. we're already at idiocracy. just nuke the planet already.
I play games on my switch and play demos
how are you no longer able to play games?
because morons like that never actually wanted to play games and just tricked themselves into thinking that they do
usually it's more that the dream died but I counterpoint that with indie and AA Japanese games like Blaster master zero
Go back to r/cuckhomosexual you cuck homosexual ass
My main problem is usually just choice paralysis from having too many games. Now I stick to only having at most 2 installed and it actually makes me want to play vidya every day
that's because 99.99999% of modern games are graphics prostitute games that serve no other purpose other than to look at shiny graphics, so there's no reason not to play them on 4K Ultra, which is why people consoom $4000 rigs for gaming (and usually never complete or even play video games)
nobody plays for fun. if you want fun, go back and play with the SNES
pretty much. everyone jerks off about their raytracing, plays the game for godrays, then gives up once their shinyobjectBlack personmonkeydrive directs them to NEXT NEW THING
it's like low IQ add on turbometh
When i was too busy to even turn on my PC for 3 months i had fricking dreams about playing video games, i even remember Stalker being one of them. Either these gays are depressed or they found out they don't actually like video games despite their favorite incelebs making them feel like they do.
most people just spam shit like fortnite, cod and sports games
I do play games just not AAA slop from western devs.. I am fricking tired of woke and western progressives. It is the most annoing and stupid group on earth.
ribit threads aren't video games
bye now, go back
Lmao. The levels of cope consolecucks need to come up with to defend their dying platforms is truly amazing.
I game on my Nintendo Switch
idk about you guys but i just finished persona 3 reload with 108 hours put in. maybe just quit being miserable homosexuals?
>me showing "Gaming is dead" Black folk that there are video games that aren't AAA/Pixelshit slop
What are the last 5 games you played? Always looking for more recommends.
For me, it's
>Pentiment
>Armored Core 6
>Live A Live remake
>Lies of P
>Fell Seal
Summer Carnival '92: Alzadick
State of decay 2
GG Aleste 2/Power strike 2
Natsuki chronicles
Nioh 2
Aliens dark descent
Starship Troopers Terran Command
Heat Signature
Deep Rock Galactic
Pathfinder Kingmaker
>Heat Signature
I generally liked this but it becomes really samey when you realize how to win at combat (equip two melee tools, charge into a room, throw your weapon if anyone is still alive)
isn't that why there are load restricted missions or the random daily challenge?
Sure, I guess. I didn't really care to do dailies on a single player roguelite
Still an enjoyable game for a bit
>parents got me a 'gaming' PC in 2008, Alienware
>had to upgrade the GPU and RAM because it could barely even run the games from that time
>knew it would only get worse as time went on
>2018, a big thunderstorm happening in the middle of the night that wakes me up
>try to go back to sleep when a lightning struck so bright I could see it with my eyes closed
>wake up to a dead Alienware (hard drives managed to survive at least)
>thanks to insurance have a roughly $1500 budget for a new computer
>decide on building one for the first time
>do all the research, buy all the parts
>put it all together, it works
>games that ate shit on the Alienware were running smooth no hiccups
>spend more time playing games on PC instead of PS4
>upgraded the RAM in recent years and got a brand new 3080 from my sister, unopened for free
>never touch my modern consoles again except for the Switch
Then the fact almost all games are getting PC releases, I don't have reason to buy a PS5 or XBox despite the friends and family that ask if I'll be getting one. Then I recently got a Steam Deck so coupled with the Switch any and all gaming needs are more than answered.
>So is "gaming" nowadays just consooming, watching streamers play, discuss awards and talking about games rather than playing them?
only if you make it so. i have friends that never even play games anymore and just talk about how fun it would be to play a game with all of us but never bother to boot up. meanwhile i'm near 30. i don't play games as much because of work, family, property etc. but when i do i just play SF2 or quake 3 for a few hours and have a blast. the problem is people don't treat gaming as a hobby but rather a means of mindless consumption. like the way you have people who watch movies that appeal to them compared to those who watch "what everyone at work is talking about on netflix" gaming only changes if you change the games you play.
>redditors being reddit
go back
>Do you even play videogames anymore?
I do, so I don't care about the rest of your worthless thread.
Lots of pc gamers dont even like games they just like pc hardware, ad i say this as a pc gamer. Im currently gaming on an acer prebuilt. I almost use it as more of a console than a pc. Ive built multiple pcs in the past but i got a prebuilt because it was cheaper and i do not wanna frick around with hardware i want to game
Look up gog galaxy acheivement stats, they look a little better. Maybe more people who actually like games use gog i dunno, and the trend jumpers stick to steam
The thing about PCs is that they're so versatile that if you have an ounce of creativity you can do a shitton of other fun things with it that aren't just gaming, so it's understandable that video games don't take 100% of PC users' time.
For example, I recently got into digital music production and have been a blast making my own tunes. Maybe this benefit of PCs is difficult to understand for console plebs since they're brains are usually 100% consoomer oriented.
Every big release these days are far too long for people who aren’t NEET to get into, I finished FF7 Rebirth after 100 hours and I don’t feel like playing anything else for the rest of the year.
depression is hitting harder than anyone is actually projecting
I like video games, they are fun.
gay
Literally me until Helldivers 2 released. Now I'm playing like 10-15 hours a week again.
>FOTM GAAS slop is whats bringing gamers back
Grim
What's fun is fun for me, and Helldivers is fun. 50 hours in the past month and I'm not tired of it yet.
If you have a reason to upgrade go ahead it's purely a personal decision and so is the result of that choice.
I play games all the time because I'm not a secondary zoomer homosexual
>build a pc out of old parts to play a specific era of games
>have zero issues enjoying them
>end up completing a bunch of games that I dropped on my main PC
What causes this?
being a moronic frogBlack person
I'm glad normalgays are finally growing out of vidya. Maybe the crash is actually possible now.
where have you been? there has been layoffs in all AAA companies and this will happen every quarter
Triple A videogaming is extremely overvalued and cant barely sustain itself
How does Hollywood do it? They have the exact same problem of shitty giant projects that don't make their money back
Magical israelite money
Hollywood will never be allowed to fall, its their master weapon, even though its not very effective anymore
>AAA
Secondary issue.
Hollywood exists to churn out propaganda, there'll always be funding from the gov. Videogames are just taking a small break during a recession because they're not particularly effective at making you love gay Black folk from outer space.
i play games now more than ever, my childhood was poor and we had to hide the N64 so my dad wouldn't sell it
I literally NEVER had that problem
Gonna lift some weights and later play MSR on my Dreamcast.
At night Im going to play Hot Wheels Unleashed 2 at 4k 120hz HDR on my OLED.
>finally build a PC of higher specs than I could usually afford
>stress out every time GPU rams up the fans from playing vidya at high+ settings even if the temps are normal
I built a 2000$ gaming PC and i already finished like 30 different games on it.
8 of which would not have worked on my old PC and several that would run below 60 on high settings.
You have people who are depressed thenophiles who enjoy buying new stuff thinking it will make them less depressed.
there's a pretty huge gap between "not running" and "60FPS on high" my man
I exaggerate a bit but if a game runs at sub 30 fps it might as well not be playable to me.
My old PC could barely maintain 60 fps in Elden ring inside dungeons let alone the open world.
Wild hearts a game i liked a lot was badly optimized and ran at like 20 fps on my old rig but ran just fine on the new PC.
And a lot of newer games would just run sub 30 fps. Tekken 8 dipped below 60 fps for instance and i wont stand for frame-drops in a fighting games.
>Finished Persona 5R last weekend.
>Started Another Code, Princess Peach and Golden sun.
>Playing modded SwBf2 with friends.
I sometimes think I'm gaming too much, actually.
Ganker and reddit attract depressed people that are still attached to a hobby they don't enjoy anymore.
Not me though I still enjoy vidya everyday
The idea that people on PC dont play games is just a cope console users tell themself.
Pointing at a minority of depressed people who buy expensive hardware in hopes it will help whit the dispersion saying its the norm.
Pick related is just some of the games i played in the last 2 months. + A bunch of Pirated games like Stranger of Paradise or Ass Creed Odyssey.
i have other hobbies or i waste a lot of time on Ganker and youtube. i'm usually pretty tired on weekdays but sometimes i waste my weekend time with this shit.
steam sales stopped being so ridiculous and i stopped hoarding games i'm never gonna play so now i only buy a game if i'm gonna play it right away and that really works. i've been playing a bit more consistently the last couple years.
no to everything
>Do you even play videogames anymore?
Yes, I actually do. Seems like this is a (You) problem.
>Or do you just need "the thrill" of anxiously picking PC parts and awaiting on shitty delivery processes
Do not confuse PC building (the tinkering hobby) with actually using a PC. Not every single car mechanic is anxious about driving the car. Some people just loves the tinkering part of it.
>only to run 2 or 3 stupid "Cyberpunk" and "Hogwart's Legacy" benchmarks to never touch any games again because their brains are rotten from reddit and tiktok?
Maybe find games you actually enjoy? You know you don't have to play games you don't like right? Just ignore most AAA games and you too can rekindle your love for vidya, provided that you genuinely like playing games as a hobby.
>Seriously, look at the achievements page on any platform. I did this on Steam page, and on the average only 8% of people actually complete games, only about 20% of people beat the same level or get the first achievement at all.
That's just how games are in general. If you're born before 2000 and you were active in vidya communities both in the 90s and in the early 2000s you'd remember that most people also didn't finish games back then either. Hell, most people didn't even finish the first few levels sometimes, which is where game trading and game renting came in. Someone who finds a game and should they realize that they dislike the game at a conceptual level isn't anything new.
The steam achievements just shows that with the advantages of a digital market, even more people will blindly try games out and then drop it should they dislike it. This isn't new, it just SEEMS big because games are really-really accessible with steam.
Same for console statistics.
You should, however, check out some reviews and see that people sometimes plays games for hundreds, if not thousands of hours. Achievements are NOT a valid metric in this topic.
just get a good game. A lot are not good. But there are some gems you must find what works for you
You realize Steam alone has more active users than all the current gen xbox consoles sold, right? The only thing not getting played right now are home consoles.
i've been building PCs since i was 14, im now 34, and i never once felt like this, each time i built a new pc it was exactly cause there were new upcoming games which i knew i wanted to play but wouldnt be able to with whatever current build i had
and each time, i always felt great in seeing all my previous games running better and knowing i'll be able to play the upcoming ones.
i dont know if it's just me, but to me it sounds like these people simply build a pc for the sake of it(not the enjoyment of it), feeling pressured they have to have the latest tech or whatever, instead of WANTING to build a new one to play games
In the golden age I'd put hundreds of hours into games every month, seeking 100% completion in everything. Games were easy, unique, and shorter without a need to be long to stand out. The games that WERE lengthy were massive productions with hour-long cutscenes, it was a novelty to play them.
Over the last 11 years, that number has dramatically reduced to being a little over a handful of games seen to the credits - not even "completed". MGSV and GZ are the only games I 100% completed in 11 years.
Elden Ring taught me that I wasn't getting older, the industry has just truly gone to shit. I hope there's a crash so we can make people get more honest.
>play horrid goyslop like mgsv
>industry le bad!
nah it's entirely a (you) issue
And what precisely are you offering instead, generic indie pixel action game with meme fonts?
Gonna need to offer up if you're gonna buzzword, kid.
>more projection from a goyslop muncher
somehow people who actually care about games do know most of the good titles that come out
limp-wristed cowardly homosexuals like you should go back to ERPing their groomers on discord, have a nice day
Hating everything isn't a personality and it's why you're always so miserable.
>build PC to play the same shitty slop (Apex, CSGO, Valorant or Warzone)
>WHY DO I NOT FEEL GOOD WHEN PLAYING VIDYA ANYMORE AAAAAAAAAAAAAA Black personMAN SELL MY PCCCCCCCC
have you seen the state of the industry? frick no I don't buy games anymore
Every PC I’ve built I’ve run the wheels off of it playing games. They haven’t gotten boring enough to me and I’ve never felt like I wasted my money on my PC. I think a lot of people that post like that are bandwagon hoppers. They saw someone on social media say PC is the best or watch some streamer and just want to be a part of something. Then when the novelty wears off they’re lost because they’re not really into games and not really into PCs either. It’s like guys who buy a bunch of drawing supplies because they like the idea of being seen as a good artist but don’t actually have the drive or discipline to learn and master it
>gaming
>pc
here's the problem
Without reading the bodies of text in OP, I still play games almost everyday, but I will experience choice paralysis with choosing a new game because there are so many I want to play.
I'm getting extremely weird vibes from this thread like I have been in this exact thread with all the same posts months ago. Its Déjà vu or something.
The world is full of these morons who don't really know why they do things.
Redditor in OP is probably just a compulsive buyer.
This would be me, but instead of building pcs I just follow all tech news, technological developments and the likes. It's great fun. Backside power delivery is going to be great
I play old games on old consoles I missed out. There's nothing new to look forward to.
>There's nothing new to look forward to.
Death Wish for Blood 2.0 should be released this year, and the team behind Ashes has started talking about episode 3
the simple truth about games being boring is that if you have better things to do or things you need to do you subconsciously don't enjoy gaming because you could or should be doing the other thing. adult responsibilities do that to you and its why gaming is closely associated with neet losers smoking weed with no prospects
No way that is true. I play on my pc from the couch in comfy clothes everyday.
There's multiple reasons this could happen, and you have to understand that it's not gonna be easy for people to sit down and play games sometimes.
>They were never actually interested in games
>They continued to keep playing all of their old favorites (nothing wrong with this)
>Every new game fricking sucks and is expensive as hell and runs like shit regardless of your hardware
>New games exist and can be interesting and refreshing, but people aren't willing to sit down and actually try them because that alone requires effort
>People are addicted to alt tabbing and reading stupid bullshit instead of sitting down and playing a fricking game all day
I get it, but I also think you just have to sit down and quit being autistic.
>People are addicted to alt tabbing and reading stupid bullshit instead of sitting down and playing a fricking game all day
I do this too much. I keep a few threads up and I alt tab here and there to see if I got any (you)s
Most games don't even have an achievememnt for finishing the game.
real Gankereddit hours
Because he's a redditor, god I remember the first pc I bought was from a garage sale had a athlon 1ghz of some kind, not 64 bit and managed to scrounge 1gb of sd ram (four total dims of some mismatched bullshit). What sucked was that the motherboard was old enough where getting drivers for most things didn't really exist at the time so just hoped one of the generic included windows ones worked. Of course linux back then wasn't really the viable gaming platform it was now so even if I went that route it's not like virtualization is where is was now, so no ez gpu passthru.
I still love looking at builds and love putting systems together, probably never will unless desktop pc parts just stop existing, then I'll go the server route.
I got back into jrpgs and Im having fun. The aspect of slowly building your party and getting stronger is too addicting. I wish they were more difficult though, even on max difficulty most are pretty easy.
That's dumb. After building the PC I'm excited to replay games because they will work better now.
I build a PC just to play Elden Ring. Played only 30 hours, got bored and never played anything on it.
On the other hand, I play my Switch almost daily.
As if anyone needed more evidence that pc "players" care more about circle jerking about computer hardware and how many fps they get than playing games. Console players are the true gamers, always have been and always will be.
Stop playing live service/toxic multiplayer/ranked mode/gacha/grindy gear treadmill/battlepass bullshit.
All of that inevitably turns gaming into a part-time job.
>Blackpill
More like an open secret. The entire video game industry is built on FOMO and backlogs. Normies buy a game because of hype and shove it onto their bookshelf to either play only 5 min of or never again, rinse and repeat every paycheque.
Don't forget the speculative market that's also taken over physical vidya. "You better buy this game now because in 5-10 years it's gonne be worth a lot, look at the prices for gamecube games!"
That didn't use to be the case though. At least big releases used to be talked about for more than a month or so.
The truth is basically what this anon has said
Social media and bombardment of excessive multimedia distractions has destroyed people's attention spans and ability to commit to any form of medium.
>Do you even play games anymore?
Yeah, I would say so.
I'm playing Victoria 3 right now
Skill issue.
If you're losing interest in vidya, practice romancing a woman
It's rare for a "open the game achievement" to be lower than 80% in my experience.
"Beat the game" achievements are usually hovering around 30% too, but if you play some bloated AAA open-world slop, I'd believe 90% players spending their whole experience fricking around and never actually finishing the main campaign by the time they get bored of the game.
PCgays are the absolute and more breaking news at 11.
Only vr gaming feels exciting anymore. Flat gaming for the most part has become super dull.
I just buy triple A games that end up kinda sucking so i lose interest in them.
I also buy a ton of indie or older games on sale and have them fill my library up.
I just consider it a gaming bookshelf.
>Do you even play video games anymore?
Yes. I work full time so I don't have as much time as I used to but I still enjoy playing them. Many of us get hit with decision paralysis too, due to us having income and pc games being cheaper than their console counterparts
people who commit to frequently finishing the games they buy have always been in the minority, achievement and trophy data has just allowed us to prove it directly
I literally saw this post after stopping playing a game, and I've been playing another game this week nonstop, the problem is that games nowadays suck so much that you don't enjoy them anymore, if you picked a really good game you'd be thrilled to play it.
Well
It all depends on what you play
If you expect the major AAA to make anything good; unless you're a braindead coonsomer you'll be disappointed most of the time
If you go looking for indies or A, there is a lot to play
The only "black pill" is that you only need to upgrade to make porn in AI
I got a Steam Deck and ended up playing games on it more than I do my high end PC.
Handhelds are just too comfy.
I'm happier now that I'm more Ganker than Ganker.
I keep looking at my backlog and I don't feel like playing anything on there, sometimes I think about how much money I'd save if I didn't paypig for discounted games I was only half interested in.
Luv me flightsims
Luv me VR headset
Luv me Hotas setup
simple as
why build something if you dont know what you are going to do with it
>Do you even play videogames anymore?
Yes. Now frick off, you terminally online Gankertard.
