The word "kusoge" was literally invented for a Sunsoft game, Ikki. On top of this, Japan tends to have nostalgia for the 85-87 Famicom period as well, while in the west we mostly think of the NES in terms of what came in 87 and after.
In that initial period Sunsoft released a few games that were famous for being bad. After that period they fired the staff and got a completely new staff and the good Sunsoft games, the one the west remembers, started to flow. But in Japan the damage was done and Sunsoft will always rhyme with Kusoge. Even their new Ikki game is marketed around that "the infamous shitty game is back"
might be my #1 favorite. seems like my entire early childhood was filled with games and cartoons encouraging me to run away from home and find a magic portal to another world, and this game was pinnacle of that feeling.
any day now. my adventure will start and I won't have to worry about this world anymore.
Limited continues, in the western version, is the worst offender imo. It doesn't even tell you how many you have and it's some weird arbritary number like "4" so you just find out the hard way

Yeah you didn't play it. It would take at least 12-15 hours of playing to get to being able to clear it in 2 hours. But of course all you did was search the game on youtube, check the length of a """longplay""" video and failed to realize that was a TAS.
>when the US release utterly mogs the original
No one in Japan remembers generic anime space war game #1397835
EVERYONE in the west remembers jumping down a hole to save your giant radioactive frog
I liked this game as a kid, continue to like it today, and still don't quite understand why /vr/ talks so highly of it. Those top-down walking sections are pretty clunky you know??
The same goes for most of the other Sunsoft NES games that seem to be adored here actually. Gremlins 2 is fine, but not too interesting. Journey to Silius is barely better than average. Gimmick is... well I'm not Japanese or European or young enough to be a normal /vr/ poster so I haven't had the chance to play it as a kid, and I don't happen to have gotten around to trying it as an adult, so okay I'll give you that one maybe it's great. I also haven't ever played Batman. I liked Fantasy Zone, there's that.
It's good but not great imo
>Sunsoft game on NES
guaranteed quality
Try saying that in Japan and people will get a big laugh
Would they know what an NES is?
Fatmisu had a guy who was in the US reporting on the NES in every issue
I am in Japan. Wanna come say that to my face, homosexual?
>Try saying that in Japan and people will get a big laugh
Elaborate. Do nips think Sunsoft games are shit?
That anon has never been to Japan.

Ok internet historian.
Who cares what chinks think?
Give it a password or save system and the reputation is warranted.
Utterly fantastic game.
Excellent on the Game Boy

>Game about a cool tank
>All the interesting parts of the game are shunted to the boring on-foot sections
4+ hour game with no password or save system. What were they thinking.

Zooming should be a crime. Don't ever post again.
The game is shorter than 2 hours. Learn to route.

>It would take at least 12-15 hours of playing to get to being able to clear it in 2 hours.
Is this supposed to be a bad thing? The game is a bit challenging and will last a while. Sounds good!
Damn this was overrated as frick and never spoken of again when TMNT Arcade came out.
Better than the remake
No creepy weird anime garbage in the original
>creepy
It looks amazing, you normalgay.
