Project Titan was WoW 2, but Blizzard realized they could milk WoW for eternity.
From what I remember, Project Titan had been in development for several years until they canned it.

          False.
Project Titan became Overwatch. All the characters from Overwatch were prototypes for classes in Titan, which was originally going to be a sci-fi style MMO, but due to all sorts of reasons that was crapped and it turned into the FPS game you all know now.

SC2 isn't even an RTS anymore, it's a MOBA with extra steps.
The competitive RTS mode is virtually dead and Blizz deliberately smothered it to push their MTX-riddled co-op hero mode.
You would have to be incredibly, almost willfully ignorant to say something so astoundingly uneducated

-WoW has been shit since the first expansion

-Hearthstone has a number of bugs and lag and bullshit, and takes an unacceptable amount of resources off your computer for a card game (spying software and shit). Also, it's a fricking CARD GAME, with fricking jpegs and fricking cards. God help us if blizzard couldn't have a minimum level of polish on that.

The absolute polish of getting stuck in a tree in WoW after they updated siege engine models.
The absolute polish of not being able to play D3 on launch because it was always online.

Polish in what? Terrible art direction? Terrible balancing? Stats, itemization? I recently played HotS and the often control often don't even work, you press and click and nothing happens, this shit apparently been a thing for years. Also it's way easier to polish games when they are straightforward. Survivial games are often sandboxy which is much harder to "polish"

Also Blizzard was dead when they made Diablo 3, and didnt produce anything worth of attention since wow vanilla. Why the frick would anyone expect anything for blizzard in 2022?

Unironically, the day WoW dies is the same day where normies find the metaverse. It might not be the zuckverse, but the day is coming when some immersive virtual world captures a mainstream audience as much as WoW did, and all MMOs currently will also die out in its wake.

        Favorite Mario Guy

Immersive? It is one of the least immersive MMO ever made. Even MMO before it were more immersive.

          Anonymous

More immersive then, but its all relative.WoW was far more immersive than a MUD from a graphics perspective. VR is more immersive likewise. Point is, graphics will matter for a mainstream audience and that audience will create the demand for metaverse which at this point seem way better poised for monetization. Once the demand for metaverse is real, then why bother maintaining old MMOs?

The best thing Blizzard could ever do, is realize Wowa wowcra has much more potential as single player games, than an MMO. Hell, it doesn't even need to be an RTS. All they need to do is an RPG, maybe a CRPG, plenty of options out there.
Making an MMO is what killed and stagnated the Warcraft story.

Blizzard turned to shit as soon as Activision came in and changed the philosophy of the company. Instead of making games out of love, they started making games purely for profit. It all happened around 2010 when they started making weird ass changes in WotLK like rehashing Naxx, VoA free epics, LFG system, half-assed TotC, etc. and started the WoW cash shop there as well.

            Anonymous

There's no need for projection anon, blizzard was not in a bargaining position to shoot down netease and their demand for higher pay, especially after netease is the reason why blizzard was earning profit last quarter with Diablo Immortal.
When netease argued that blizzard needs to pay them due to their good performance on Diablo Immortal, Microsoft was the one who stopped the deal, probably wanting to restructure blizzard into making their own hits again rather than the outsourcing gamble that can damage their IP's like with reforged.
This is why microsoft brought the spellbreak team over to blizzard, but has them on their east coast office in a different location, Microsoft wants to use blizzards IP's but knows the California location has a severe lack of talent, so they are just going through contract motions so they can cut the fat and replace a lot of untalented blizz devs without PR fallout.

There are multiple lore relevant time periods, like the war of the ancients time period, or the orcs vs humans time period that the movie covered.
They could have also made warcraft 3 into an mmo, which would have been interesting, night elves weren't friendly with the dwarves and humans, and the undead weren't part of the horde.
