Not a diablo fan, picked up the early access and thought it was incredibly boring at first. But once I learned to synergize my build for good damage + fun i became addicted. The seamless overworld like in wow works great in diablo, questing and exploring is fun. Dungeons are incredibly tedious tho, I avoid them mostly. Otherwise the game seems packed with shit to do.
The fun in these type of games is always from how OP you feel with your build. If your damage sucks ass you'll get bored to death.

Just played the betas so far. My normalgay friends love it and they didn't like D3 that much. As an epic diablo clone gamerman I think it's pretty mid, basically D3 with a way better aesthetic, slightly worse customization, and absolute dogshit dungeons. I'd still say it's fun, it's just not $70 fun and is disappointing in that it does nothing to progress the genre (this shit doesn't feel any more "new" than d3 apart from aesthetic). And it has a battle pass and cash shop....

The map rotation was removed, all of the maps are available (apart from 2CP - those got removed altogether).
Loot boxes were a superior system, with enough grinding you could get all the skins by just playing. Now it's 6+ months of playtime for just one (1) shop skin. It's impossible to get the limited time skins without pooling beforehand. It's FOMO extreme.

It's pretty sad, on release day they paid bounties per/CCA on twitch. They went all out with the marketing. All main streamers played for five hours (the minimal contractual obliged amount in order to be eligible for the bounty) then fricked off to do other things.
The main streamer of their game yesterday was the viewbotted Fextralife with a peak of 27.000 viewers. They're in full panic mode, nobody seems to like the game. Main problem is the zoomer demographic saying the game is boring and the $100 required to even play the game.
Of course Blizzard doesn't report sales figures anymore but it's pretty safe to say this game is bombing like hell and beyond. The fact they gave their audience four days to see the snorefest that is their game in action might've been a giant marketing mistake. Wouldn't surprise me if they go f2p within a year in order to recoup some of their costs with micro transactions and a premium battle pass ala OW2.

It's okay, visually it's more interesting and I've had more fun with the combat and talent trees than I did with Diablo 3 but it's still just Diablo.
Good summary, if money is an issue it ain't worth it. With all the side quests and cut scenes there's a bit of jank. Any skills involving teleportation or terrain manipulation have some targetting issues as well.
But at the core the combat is probably the most fun of any arpg I've played (I haven't really played lost ark) and the build options are interesting despite first impressions of the skill twigs.

I actually have yet to see a gameplay clip that made the game look fun or interesting. It's the same tired arpg 'blow up the screen at variable speed' gameplay we have seen dozens of times before.
The primary issue is that the 'enemies' are non threatening and passive, and simply wait to die. There is nothing that is apparently aggressive or close to the power level of the PC that threatens them at all during the campaign. In order to make the enemies dangerous, multiple layers of extra shit need to be tacked onto them, much like keystones in wow.
Even in D2 we had memorable 'oh shit' enemies like fetishes or gloams, or spawns like the hyperspeed venomlords off the seals in hell. You had electric beetles in the desert, you had those fricking high speed giant hairy guys in act 1, you even had vipers in the desert with their big fast stuns, there were just all sorts of memorable dangerous enemies you could run into in the campaign and get gibbed by if you weren't prepared.
there is none of that in D3 or D4, it's just 'spam your skills and wait for the enemies to die'
you want clips of people being bored? just open literally any stream and watch the pasty, slack jawed morons marathoning this boring game and watch their souls be siphoned out in real time

Diablo 3 made its total development cost back multiple times over in the first week after launch, on sales alone. They could have given the expansions out for free and still come out well in the black, but of course they didn't. It's got no atmosphere, the assets are re-used a hundred times over in different areas and 'dungeons', the mobs are all the fricking same, the colour is garbage, the story is a joke lets be real, and the gameplay is just d3 but with even less classes when d3 was already a downgrade from d2 variety.

i guess 99% of all streamers were just bribed with a free copy, and at best, additional points for their shop. If you are a bigger streamer and don't get a special contract with pay from them, you can either frick off and wait for early access, or suck it up and try to get clicks from your audience in time, before others get them. Those videos will be only relevant and watched for short period of time around release. It's definitely a weird practise though, but also calculated, as they don't want people shitting on the game or letting people make comparisons to poe that sound are worded to draw people over there.

Being bought off or bribed is probably just as much of a norm these days as it is with gayming "news" sites. They all want to stay in good faith with the developer, especially when it's a big one. Negative words can also hurt the feels of a downvote hungry crowd. It's a battle overall.

Rogue is the only fun leveling class right now. Sorc leveling is too strong, Necro has no movement skills so it's too slow, and barb and druid feel like bad with limited aspects while leveling.
Thorn necromancer tank is funny as frick. I one or two shot every normal enemy and I hardly even have thorns gems yet. Then blood spells for sustain hit fricking HARD. Sacrificed all minions. Sorry babysitter summoner bros, necromancer is for men this time around.

Rogue has good damage and mobility, but mediocre survivability. That'll be the class with the most agency. If you mean build flexibility, Sorc will always have a lot of viable options because of how enchantment slots work.
I played everyone but druid in the betas. Rogue was the most skillful class I played but building was just ok. Sorc's enchantment thing was neat but skills were so imbalanced that there was an obvious "correct choice". Necro was just w+m1 tier. Barb seemed underpowered at lower levels so he was ironically required the most effort to play but I'm sure that will change throughout the game.
Curious how druid is and rebalances after the betas.
