it was shit, it was the build first leaks were from, with missing npcs, missing building, missing audio and effects and only some environment art done and only in the central location

Why did you buy it in the first place? The biggest red flag occured at the very beginning when it was teased just weeks after that awful Diablo Immortal reveal. It's obvious the game was rushed as frick to salvage the Diablo name.
Not only that, but you even got to play a demo of it for free.
i played it at launch and i enjoyed it.
didn't play any of the seasons, but if 4 adds a lot of changes, i might try it.
the biggest annoyance for me was actually the useless and moronic open world.
I think the open world hurt it more than anything. Dedicated hubs and npc's with sovl would have been infinitely more memorable and fun. I started out thinking the merchants would be important and realized quickly...this is all just filler junk. And that realization spread to the rest of the game, and i dropped it.
I think it greatly ruined the atmosphere of the universe as well. In Diablo 2, everything felt huge. Like you were il Lut Gholein, but it took your character like two weeks to reach it off screen and it was obvious that the area we see is just a very small part of the place.
Same thing for Act 3, the jungle felt huge because it was obvious that we were only exploring a very small part of it.
But in D4, I mean I just take my horse and cross the desert and the mongolian steppes in 3 minutes. There's no load screen where your character travels, you just walk there. It makes the world look so fricking small.

A friend bought the game for me using some sort of money he got from playing WoW, and in return I bought him armored core 6 on steam so we could play together when the ranked multi-player came out.
I played D4 for 30 minutes before uninstalling out of disgust and vowing to never give blizzard another dollar and he never actually installed armored core 6 and now thinks he's a troony.

That was pre season 2, since everything’s been buffed significantly. Barb and Rogue are crazy still with 1 shot boss builds. Everyone was super critical for 3 because 2’s vamp powers were something you could feel very early on. The senchel takes a good bit to not suck, also blood harvests were superior to what we have now. The team that made the lackluster season 1 made this one so here’s to hoping the guys responsible for s2 hit it outta the park for s4.

Campaign and midgame is fun. The problem is that at release it didn't have any chase items. Uber uniques were TOO rare, so they weren't chase more like lottery. Regular uniques were overwhelmingly hot garbage.

It's a Last Epoch like system that puts more affixes into targeted crafting instead of shitting up the random loot drop pool. That way it is easier to get what you want and need and also judge your drops quicker.

you can't escape it, its so alien to the ARPG genre to make everyone a Builder Spender and it breaks any sort of buildcrafting, you'll play the way the Dev's want, and exactly the way they want mind you, and you'll like it.
What's funny is that you have infinite resource from about level 60 on, so you don't even keep a builder on your bar anymore. If you get the right pieces, even earlier. But you suck, and your experience is what reality is.

Pic seems like he completely misunderstood the game mechanics. +fire dmg and +dmg to burning enemies aren't the same thing. In most games with fire damage burning is a separate DOT effect from actual fire damage dealt by the player. If the burn DOT is impacted by how much damage you do with the spell then it would make sense but usually it's just a flat percentage of health over time debuff afaik.

Scaling doesn't matter anyway because you should be doing NMVs and getting level + 10 XP until you hit 100 and then you should be pushing to kill Lilith (and then retire the character because you did the hardest thing in the game, which is easier than it was preseason).

Mana regeneration is only a problem for low levels. Cooldowns are bad if your skills aren't leveled or you're relying on the wrong skills. Good builds should always have close to (if not exactly) the right thing available.

Also, just noticed your armor is 6.5k above the cap. Some of those affixes can be replaced with ones that do damage. Int should also be over 1000. Your priorities are: Int, vulnerable, crit, overpower, anything else. Your attack power is really low.
This isn't a game where you can make builds without intimately understanding the math and buckets. Playing a top build is really the only way to succeed.
Every skill has its place, but your combo may just be bad. A good build has all that accounted for so you're always popping something useful instead of waiting for cooldowns or having to use a basic skill.

This doesn't appear to have Cooldowns reduction % affixes, either. So, 2 seconds if you go through 6 enemies plus CDR affixes, and that's pretty rapid.

D4 was created by morons.
Lucky Hit isn't tied to crits. It's a separate chance by skill (teleport and bone spear have really high lucky Hit chances). Some stuff, like the Lidless Wall proc, can get up to 100% after a lucky hit, so if you have bone spear up to like 60-70%, you rape and murder everything with 5 bone storms always going and boosting your crit chance.
8 hours to 100 and moderately geared. Then you hit Duriel and Varshan to fill in a couple slots.
Only ever played RoS and I couldn't take damage. People said I had to grind like 14 torment tiers until it starts to get dangerous.
greater rifts don't get particularly challenging till about 120. doesn't take very long to get to that point though

It looks like they fired most of the team and put some poor guys on it who just want to do a good job now that no one is paying attention. OW2 is the same way. Suits left, game gets better. That’s every mmo out there, mmo-lites like Destiny and The Division too. Pretty much any game with power levels has endless grinding and gets better with friends. It like many other games just becomes a hangout for friends that can’t always meet up in person.

The main problems with the items is still going to be there. You get a real awesome as frick item at a lower level and then you level up a bit, everything scales against you and now that awesome item is shit.
I miss when items you could find a mid level were still worth using near endgame, like in Diablo 2.

The changes for season 4 are pretty good. They definitely played Last Epoch and took hints from it. The game might become a 7/10 after these changes, but the main problem of there not being enough good endgame still persists. Maybe season 5 will be the one where they finally fully address that.
They copied it 1:1 anon, literally copied it with other names. D4 will be fun in like season 7 by that time i guess?

As someone who just play through these games once and never think about them again. How is it Diablo 2 is still played to this very day, but every sequel and games seem like they have to fight to keep player's attention. Is it nostalgia or does 2 have the secret sauce to these kinds of games?

I have not heard anything like that about OW2 either. Quite the contrary. OW2 was received pretty poorly, the cut PvE stuff was received poorly, the battle pass was received poorly, etc.

DF did at least add a lot of good systems to the game that are not just tied to the single EXP. Things like a reworked profession system, better talent trees, the dragon riding aspect of it, the gear being able to be upgraded at last.
There was a lot of good that came out of DF, DF just had a wet fart of a final content patch and its dragging on miserably.
