how come there aren't more warlocks? it's the best class in the game
Let me tell you something zoom-zoom! Even though Warlocks (mushrooms) have spell cleave, you are LIGHTYEARS behind Mage. ESPECIALLY Frost mage! But also Fire, and even Arcane if the Mage is geared (who wouldnt gear a mage everyone wants mage for insane damage). And yes, that goes for PvP and PvE based moron. Sure you get a free mount, but you DO realize how easy it is to farm as a mage, right...? Oh wait, no you don't, you're a moronic Warlock lmfao good luck getting into groups after Ony / MC, Fear Ward is your only saving grace before Cata.
but mage has far more favorable matchups and general interaction
warlocks are stationary porcupines that can't do anything if you just leave, they have no form of pursuit or escape
but mage has far more favorable matchups and general interaction
warlocks are stationary porcupines that can't do anything if you just leave, they have no form of pursuit or escape
okay then i'll play feral druid instead and frick you up and there's nothing you can do about it
Haha little man doing 50 things at same time, Grug "Hammer of Justice", ok give Grug a second, before I attack I cast Seal of Command, wait I need blessing of attack power too, ok now let's auto-attack and do 5 attacks at once from Reckoning, each of which does 1100 damage on leather.
I'm having difficulties figuring out of this is a post referring to retail or classic since classic doesn't have the gayboy demons and no one cares about summoning with dungeon finder and most classes now have all the self healing, dps, and "oh shit" buttons they'll ever need to not have to group up. I miss me warlock back in vanilla though.
>how come there aren't more warlocks?
they don't really do anything, at best they're just convenient to have around. warlocks are arguably the "real" hybrid of warcraft in the sense they don't do anything particularly well, but they do an incredible amount of things. they're basically bard-tier in the sense you will never actually need one, but you're usually glad if they're around.
(speaking in terms of classic-tbc-wotlk, the only relevant era of WoW)
ie. everyone needs/wants blessing of salvation from paladins, every melee character in the game desires windfury totem, druids end up being invaluable healers and great tanks that can define a raid or group -- warlocks are always just in a state of middleground, where players often don't even register if they have a warlock present or not
Assuming you're talking classic, it's because 99% of their gameplay just boils down to being a worse caster than mages and the other 1% is just being a worse pet class than hunters. They don't have 1/10th the QOL of a mage (portals, CC, AoE, threat, mobility, food, buffs, etc) and when it comes to the few things that actually make them extremely fun and effective, you have to deal with hoarding like 60 soul shards in your inventory at all times to do any of it and god help you if you actually run out. The free mount at 40 (the 60 mount is so not free lmao) is great but that's it.
Anyone who plays a Warlock does so purely because slinging around evil purple fireballs and sucking the souls out of people is fricking badass.
>Demonology tree, which revolves around making the pet an integral part of your play, culminates in sacrificing your pet for a 30 minute buff and never using them so you can shit out bigger shadowbolts
Vanilla was wild
The low mobility and keep away playstyle with fear and charm never really appealed to me.
The mage life spoiled me, I just like to kite and burst down giant packs of mobs effortlessly.
they were rogue feed on a pvp server. Stunlocking was simple and easy >rogue pops out of nowhere >stuns you and piles on dps >you die
The only counter locks had was Soul Link at level 40, where you could basically add your VW's health pool to yours. Also master demonologist gave you really good armor with a VW out, so you could soak the damage through the stunlock, then turn around and actually fight back.
Worth saying that MoP was peak warlock though. Anybody who says positive things about lock post legion is automatically a zoomer

Yeah but the mushroom joke clearly implies warlocks couldn't do shit to most of paper either.

they were good against mages with a felhunter out. Curse of tongues fricked them up too, it was hard for them to do anything but instant cast spells vs a warlock that had a felhunter.
Other than that, warlocks were garbage in pvp. They had some talent build gimmicks like the SL +VW strategy I mentioned, but that more just made them ghetto tanks. You could literally just ignore a demo warlock while fighting his allies in pvp, but most people were too stupid to figure it out so it was more an IQ counter.
Destro locks had a seduce nuke strategy which was probably the best for killing things very quickly but it was the inverse of the SL VW build. You had no defenses at all and the moment someone got on you they could kill you as fast as you could kill them. Destro locks were called 'suicide mages' back in vanilla as they played like a mage with no defense
It's impossible to balance a game like this around 1v1. Even trying to balance 2v2 and 3v3 just ends up homogenizing everything into boredom, which is why arenas were a mistake and should have never been invented.

You're right, but at that point vanilla Rogues were grossly imbalanced. Their stun locks were capable of being infinitely applied because you could get back into a full kidney shot before the first one diminished.
BG3 convinced me that romance options are the worst possible thing for a game to focus on.
Every RPG from now on is going to spend half it's budget modeling orc shemale sex organs, and voicing cringe porn dialogue.
AAA moviegames are going to absorb RPG's completely now, and turn them into low rent porn games, with syfy channel writing, and ugly hags and gross gays.
>Just want to play a turn based tactical role playing game, not really interested in romance as it's always come off as cringe and meant for the shameless horny crowd. >Even in my experience playing tabletop dnd, the only person I've ever known who tried "romance" was a porn addicted weirdo who got kicked out of the group. >Try this in Baldurs Gate 3, constantly get harassed and gaslit by my companions and Withers for not having any romances.
Bro, I have a fricking tadpole in my head, the last thing I want to do is frick anyone, I want to get help ASAP. But no, it's a shitty dating sim hidden behind a TTSRPG.
>I play with sex averse weirdos >wtf it's the normies who were horny all along?
you convinced yourself for so long that you were "normal" and that people with a healthy interest in sex are "freaks"
but this is reality baby, you're the freak, cry harder and stay losing
Normal people are not "obsessed" with sex, let alone bringing it up at a DnD table. That sort of behavior is typically for ugly people who typically don't have a noteworthy or desirable sex life to begin with. Even your own pic is a fat, ugly moron
Grimy homosexual hands typed this post. Frick you you disgusting homosexual and frick nu Blizzard for adding this revolting homosexualry to Warcraft. Dead troony leftoid company, dead game.
>new player
Got suckered in by the hypemen? Turn around while you still can traveler. >feral druid just a better rogue?
Not really, it's a shit rogue with a crazy utility kit to make up for it. You're only going to actually beat people with feral if you're a good player, otherwise low skill ceiling classes are going to shit on your with 1 button.
If you want big damage ninja fun, go rogue. If you want to spend most of your time flag running or being forced to respect to heal BG's/raids pick druid.
Shadow priest is probably your best bet, locks are good too, probably your best bet if you're new. But a good mage can always win, they're kinda OP.
i'm playing classic era cuz i want a comfy game that won't fry my dopamine receptors. also what's the difference between low and high skill ceiling classes? do the high skill ceiling classes perform better than low skill ceiling classes if played right, or do they just require more effort to perform just as much as the low skill ceiling classes?
Any game will fry your dopamine receptors, go out and do real life stuff with real people zoomie. Don't curse yourself with a hobby that keeps you inside talking to spergs online all day, or you'll end up like the rest of us.
It depends on the class/spec/gear, and situation. A lazy moron hunter can have good positioning and completely shit on a lot of classes, but then in another scenario he can get jumped early and lose every advantage.
Druids, rogues, and mages are probably the best example of high skill ceilings rewarding you, so pick those if you're sweaty.
But like i said, if you're a zoomie worried about dopamine receptors, go outside. Seriously.
>go out and do real life stuff with real people i've been diagnosed with autism yesterday. i've tried for a long time to be normal, but all it did was stress me out. sperging out over things is the only thing i have left that makes life somewhat worth living, so if i can spend hundreds of hours on something, that's better than walking back and forth in my apartment overthinking about a life that could be but isn't
I've been dodging the diagnosis myself, because i didn't believe it. I'm well into my 30s and miserable as frick.
Best advice i can give you is to find IRL nerd hobbies, and find actual nerd friends. Look at it as an experiment that might yield positive results, but don't expect them.
Ending up alone, with no friends, that's pretty hard. Vidya is great, but actual socializing is important especially if you're a sperg.
I know how much of a relief it is to give up on bein a normalgay, but the smart thing to do is to take breaks from it instead of giving up entirely. Work/socialize/study etc for a period, then take a break to recharge.

Druids in PVP tend to suffer from the whole "deals frick all for damage" thing. You either flat out can't kill shit or take 20 minutes to kill shit just by turtling in bear form and hoping to god they don't somehow stunlock you when you switch to human to heal back up.
back in BC it was asked if there were any incubi and it was suggested that they were smaller and rarer because it wasn't unusual for succubi to devour them. I always figured there was a sizegay there and we'd get an incubus battle pet someday but it seems they left Blizz like all the other talent
there seems to be ample room to move between or around these characters
is this meant to be a cover amerifat thread?

When you're playing MMORPG's the only one you're fricking up is (you).
Have fun degenerating.
you're just jealous i'm a neet comfymaxxing and feeling the satisfaction of progressing in an immersive game. plus i'm not even a virgin
why is playing mmorpgs suddenly for losers when someone is better than you at them
Why do old people always type the same way?

Yeah, 99% of rogues in vanilla want to be Mute but they suck dick

nothing personnel, kiddo

You mean trinket out of stun and the only thing the rogue should have done is vanish to hope he triggers out of combat.
because it's the most brain dead class to play maybe
>pet class

what classes do adhdgays play anyways?
Wrong, mate. Warrior.

>free mount
iirc the material cost of the warlock epic mount quest actually puts it over the cost of regular training and mount
Not if you gather them yourself like my broke ass did. Yes that means switching certain professions.
Opportunity cost. You farming 900g worth of items and burning them on a quest rather than selling them is no different from just spending 900g.
