Sweet. Only 6 years until it's playable, requiring a 5090 TI and 88gbs of VRAM and an intel 50 core processor.
the ps4 has an x86_64 architecture, you don't need to emulate, you can just use a compatibility layer with no loss of performance.
some games are already playable on fpps4
>some
just Sonic Mania is playable beyond the title screen
maybe you are confusing fpps4 with spine
This
Why don't all these devs band together to make THE compatibility layer instead of having 8 emulators in development at the same time at a snail's pace
>you can just use a compatibility layer with no loss of performance
okay, now explain why xbox emulator sucks shit
og xbox is also "just x86"
Completely different, tbh. OG Xbox games were running on bare metal and had baked in code to directly interact with the gpu hardware and such. PS4/PS5 have an operating system that games have to go through. "emulation" of them boils down to recreating the OS API calls and handling decompiling/recompiling shaders.
Someone was working on a translation layer to play Vita games on Switch, since the CPUs are similar.

Name 3 PS4 exclusives games worth of emulating?
Bloodborne
The Last Guardian
P.T.
DriveClub
Gravity Rush Remastered + Gravity Rush 2
InFamous Second Son
>Gravity Rush Remastered + Gravity Rush 2
Oh yeah, I forgot about that negress.
>Second son
not my problem if you hate fun
Bloodborne is worth 3 games
PS4 games?
What PS4 games can you not play on a PS5 or PC already?
Can't wait to play DriveClub in 10 years with shader stutter
Realistically though the other project that aims to be a compatibility layer seems to be more optimal on the long run
>people actually like DriveClub
it is kino
At least it could be 60fps on an emulator.
Why tf do native x86 machines require emulation on other x86 systems
Just depends on your definition of 'emulator'. Some say that anything without CPU emulation is actually emulation, but you still have to translate GPU calls, you need to interpret and recompile shaders, and either rewrite the kernel or emulate enough to get it running. Others say that any sort of translation is emulation, and that compatibility layers like WINE are [high-level] emulators.
>without CPU emulation is actually emulation
*isn't
bloodwhat?
>making an emulator for a console with only one notable game
Why? Just fricking work on RPCS3.
>don't make an emulator for a console with one game, work on an emulator for a different console with one game instead
They have been for a while now.
Considering the short list of worthy things to emulate on a ps4 i think this will have fester progress than the ps3, and really.
Just do this, ps3 has at least double digits of worth to play exclusives unlike its older sibling and the better they improve the performance here is a better investment for anyone involved.
Why whyte people be climbin mountains n sheet?
It's only the original RPCS3 dev working on it and he hasn't touched RPCS3 in 7 years.
how hard will be porting Bloodborn to PC with reverse engineering?
it would be easier to pray to god and have someone leak the pc build the artists used
it would cost someone's career but it would be a small price to pay
But I already played it on PC through PS Now, so now what?
what about your kid? once they grow old enough to be interested in playing Bloodborne PS Now will be defunct if it isn't already
You didn't play Old Hunters then.
>you can get a PS4 for under $100
>3rd worlders still too poor to play Bloodborne
Kek. You will never ever ever get to play BB
it's not worth it to get a ps4 and hook it up to a tv and shit
there's other games to play, I can wait
I legitimately don't even have a TV anymore. There's just no reason with computers these days.
I have a ps4 but I always hated it even back in '13 or whenever it launched. Even on launch day it felt cheap and not "next gen" at all when compared to xb360. It's just a disgusting loud piece of cheap plastic.
> PCtrannies need to resort to emulation to play Bloodborne
> Its 2023 and they still havent played a game from 2015
Topkek
Except I did already see
>rpsc3
still runs sonic unleashed worse than xenia
good late april fools joke
>sonic unleashed
oh nooo
anyway
Isnt RPSC3 still in early beta or something
Tons of games I've tried on it dont even run, how about we get that in a decent state before moving onto a new project, PS4 doesnt have shit that isnt playable on PS5/PC, the seventh gen is the last one worth emulating before consoles became home computers with stripped away functions anyway.
Why bother? The port will be along soon enough. I imagine not long after the rumored RDR1 remake. Trust the plan.
Why? Wouldn’t it be easier to reverse engineer Gravity Rush 2?
We already have a better game than bloodborne, on PC. I won't be begging for a port anymore, thanks Lies of P for saving videogames this year.
I haven't checked yet. How much r34 of this twink getting railed is there?
Why there are 2 threads with the same image? Are these bot generated or wtf? Not the first one like this either.
Or Sony could stop being full blown israelites and put it on PC, especially after killing off their Japanese dev teams for California cred
oh yes, the fabled bloodborne port
>littlebigplanet: dead
>gravity rush: dead
>motorstorm & driveclub: dead
>jak and daxter: dead
>infamous: awol
>killzone: dead
>resistance: dead
>crash bandicoot: sold
>gran turismo: shat itself
just end it already it gaming is over
what about Xbox One compatibility layer
I just want to play Forza Horizon 2 and Motorsport 5 till the dawn of time
Enjoy your sloppy seconds pcücks
Have you been... fricking your video games? How?
>he never cummed on the disk tray of his dreamcast
>people work on spine ps4, a linux only ps4 emulator
>gets absolutely nowhere in 4 fricking years
>FpPS4 gets announced last year
>goes MIA after 6 months, gets literally nowhere
>GPCS4 gets announced as a "fun and technical side project :P"
>gets nowhere
>Orbital gets announced 5 years ago
>fricking kek
Here's hoping RPCSX gets somewhere.
FpPS4 has Sonic Mania and other 2D games running at full speed with no glitches whatsoever so I was optimistic, too bad it seems it has fallen into a limbo.
Yup. I never really paid attention to emulator news for previous generations, but this is literally the 8th PS4 "emulator." I don't think any other console has as many emulator duds as the PS4.
work on spine ps4
Only 1 guy, and it was closed source so no one else could help even if they wanted to. Orbital had the same problem, guy went closed source when he was working on a commercial project. The rest were sort of meme projects (like seriously, a PS4 in fricking Pascal) or highschoolers who never had a hope in getting anywhere.
This seems like the first project that has a real chance.
Here's hoping. We'll see how progress is in a year or maybe even near the end of the year.
They kept Demon's Soul for years, then only remade it exclusively for PS5. Sony is going to be homosexual about Bloodborne as well.
We're getting your last game wheatear you give it up willingly or not, snoygay.
and just like that, the ps4 suddenly has games
Mustard bros we're finally getting a game
I only care about Bloodborne, Medievil, Shadow of the Colossus and the Uncharted trilogy. All of them are going to be eventually ported to PC.
You can argue that PS3 emulation is useful since there are more worthwhile games that are not going to be ported soon but anything PS4 upwards is pointless. In fact, if it wasn't for Nintendo, emulation of new consoles in general would be pointless.
Speaking of which, if the next Nintendo console has a similar architecture than the Switch (pretty much like the Wii was to the Gamecube, but with better performance), there won't be any need to code new emulations in the years to come, only refine what we have.
Is there anything else?
