I am so sick of "This entire raid is locked out for you because of did not have this exact character" bullshit
Feels like that's gonna be a trend from here on out, though. The only thing you'll potentially be locked out of is the platinum trophy and the highest difficulty (until the level cap/equip cap is raised), but it still sucks. People often argue about usable alternatives and whatnot but Insane Hieronymus is obviously an Arius check and Chihiro/Saki rules Hod and are practically irreplaceable. New characters being strictly 3*s also doesn't help. I thought the addition of Insane was going to force players to use more teams with less powerful characters because of the HP bloat, but the defense type only cuts down the number of viable characters instead in most cases.
The problem with the higher difficulties is that without said required characters your parties will just die within a minute without dealing any damage of note... And of course these characters need to be 5MMM UE50, too (so bye-bye f2p players). Thankfully plat rewards are mostly e-peen so casually getting gold is still good enough really. Not doing insane only means that you're missing out on some purple coins and a mere 1/6 of a 10-roll.
it's literally a gacha game, the entire point of the competitive parts is to be p2w so you have to roll

It's f2p, and it's no more or less predatory than other f2p games (at least now with 2.5% -> 3% rates and 300 -> 200 rolls for spark). But also, like other f2p games, if you want to rank well, you gotta be lucky or you gotta pay up. However you can still get 90% of the event and raid rewards as f2p (there are no unique rewards for plat aside from a decorative statue for the dorm), and the story unlock missions can be beaten quite easily.
Monthly tickets (~$10+$5) do let you farm some essential loot from dailies more efficiently, so many people buy those and treat it as "game subscription price", but if you stick with the game you can get enough loot from dailies, events, and raids. PVP as f2p is also feasible, I dropped the game for over a year and I still rank somewhere between 100-200, give or take depending on luck.

Her kit is definitely designed for red raids and you're gimping half her kit by bringing her outside those but she's still pretty useful for the cost regen when combined with Cherino
Personally I think I'll skip this insane because frick chesed, frick rng waves, frick mob waves and just generally frick this. There's plenty of homework for the ones that do want to try it out though but 2-3 turn insane seems the norm this time around.
Yeah you don't get the broken multiplier but you still get a cheap party attack buff + blue armor for Chesed red attack.
I'm sure these are PvP newbiestomping tactics that most people figure out before trying to break top 300-500, but any tips for my dumb ass for dealing with

Any way to stop them from running straight into my backline? A1 shotgun tank doesn't seem to stop them from coming to my half of the map and getting trapped there by the locker. Sometimes the locker even just gives them the source engine physics treatment and catapults them behind my entire team to frick me up.

Not sure if there's a defense setup that specifically causes it, but a lot times the enemy tank ends up slightly behind the locker (towards the enemy side) or parallel to it once it falls, so all my backliners leave cover and run to around A4 to die to any AoE, while the enemy attackers stay back in safety. Any way to avoid this?

I see her a lot on defense bombing my entire half the screen, but is she any good on indoors attacker or is that old-ish info? The enemy tank is always alone on my side or alone in the locker chokepoint as described above so I rarely see her clip the backline as an attacker.
A4 Tsubaki stops D4 tank from running into your backline. Problem with this is it makes your dps vulnerable to Hibiki, but you gotta pick your poison. If you try to avoid this with something like A3 A4 tanks then the locker falling and knocking them back can expose your dps to fire anyway. Running an Akane with a leveled up passive can also prevent this as the enemy tanks will see her earlier and target her instead of continuing to run forward, but you are effectively giving up a striker slot to do so as she doesn't contribute much of anything after that.
Shun is pretty susceptible to running into aoe once the locker falls because if she has ex activated she will see the opponent but not have line of sight, so she tries to maneuver herself into being able to shoot them. Iori shouldn't have this problem as long as she's still targeting an enemy tank however. This is one of those things where you just hope Shun is either your first ex or enough down the line that she doesn't run in since the locker falling gives just enough time for Shun to run into a Hibiki normal activation.
Hibiki is not particularly good on attack. You could try some movement speed up characters like Akane or Tsurugi to disrupt the enemy formation, but both of these units die fast to Iori.
Unfortunately a lot of these issues are the reason why indoors is considered very defense favored, and there's not much you can do about it without opening a hole somewhere else in your offense.

On your actual PC will change all your outgoing trafic to use a VPN so be careful with sites that hate VPNs such as Ganker for one example while on bluestacks the VPN will only mask whatever happens on that particular instance of the emu

Wherever you heard it from, the discussion was most likely about Hoshino not S.Hoshino.
Maxing Hoshino's EX to 5 makes her unable to interrupt abilities in pvp like Tsubaki's normal skill. Instead of the enemy trying to activate their skill and then get it canceled, the longer stun duration forces them to wait until Hoshino's EX is finished.
On the other hand, more stun duration is a good thing for raids like HOD, and more power is good in general. So it up to you on what you value more.
It should go without saying though that S.Hoshino's EX should be maxed. There is no downside to it being stronger.

Yeah, then definitely base Hoshino. Either way, it depends if you want to use her in PvP or not. It's a coinflip and she's better off in HOD with it maxed so it's up to you.

Shit, still can't clear EX. I can get Chesed down to half HP using an assist Iori (need my own to clear the first waves), but I can at most squeeze out one more yellow team, and it's challenging to have them stay alive long enough to do any damage of note. No Ui, no mats to level Cherino's EX and Sub, just got to 80 so not enough reports to level everyone to 75+ either (stuck at 70-ish and even worse for some).
I'm retreating in the last wave so I can change teams but I don't understand what exactly forces Chesed to open.
If I leave 3 enemies alive in the last wave and use my next team, that means that chesed will open after killing exactly 3 enemies during the first wave, or it's just a random number?

No, I know that. I mean that if during that 3rd wave I kill everyone, or just half of it makes any difference in how long it takes to open next time. I feel like there's times I can easily use ako+kotama+maki+iori before it closes, but other times where I just can't get enough cost regen for it.
Yes, each individual kill adds to the yellow groggy bar. Leaving a couple enemies alive in the 4th wave will mean only having to kill a couple enemies in your 1st wave on the next team to open the ball. But note that the number won't always be equal because each enemy type contributes a different amount to groggy.

Outdoor Kaiten phase 1 for sHina (still very good there), both Kaitens' phase 2 for sIori. sHina I'd say is probably more worth it than sIori since Kaiten phase 2 is so simple.
insane kaiten p2 for siori is kinda iffy due to her armor type, either rely on rng for less/no missile spam or use shields.

Are there any guides for uhhh not maxed out parties? Not that anon, stuck at about 450k HP left with 2.5 teams, no more usable students left. Having neither Karin nor Ako hurts (and I only got Iori like ten days ago, spent most of the mats I had to get her to UE30 M777, but the rest are mostly 3* 3444 Lv. 70-ish).
Chesed is aids because if you're doing EX then you have to kill it in one opening and you'll definitely need Ako for that. Karin might be replaceable but I honestly don't know what you would replace her with.
I can restart enough to survive two waves but I still can only get it down to 800k with the main party (Iori, S.Hoshino, Maki, Hifumi, Kotama, borrowed Ako - tried Cherino instead of Hifumi, but she dies too fast and I don't have the mats to level her EX, Hifumi helps me survive longer at least)... The first party to clear the waves is Momoi, Midori, Nonomi, Tsubaki, two random supports, just barely enough to 3/4 the groggy bar and quit. Other students are in the f2p has no mats lmao state.
I blame the terrain advantage.

What's the game's native resolution (highest graphics settings)? I.e. what resolution should I set to have no upscale, the least crop, and the least artifacting (since the game hates wrong aspect ratios and outright fricks up the right half of the screen)?

How come blue and red have many students that can cast deletus but the only one that can do that in yellow is Iori? Where's the rest of the yellow DPS?
Maki, Hasumi, Karin, and even Yuzu have been used as the main Chesed dps this time around.
Maki does have great damage but she isn't insta burst like Iori
Hasumi does count I guess but frick investing in Hasumi I absolutely refuse to
Karin can't benefit from any buffs at all so she's not as good as other nukers

Hasumi is incredibly unstable. Even with her own crit rate+ on reload + maxed Ako, her crit doesn't always proc. Reloading every kill also makes her awful at killing mobs in Chesed, and the kill requirement for the crit damage+ makes it useless in any other raid. Her damage can be fricking insane, but she's really hard to use.
the game limit maximum crit rate to 80%, which is why DPS aa hits like Maki, Azusa, etc, is always better when you need stable dps. Maximizing hasumi's crit rate skill on her sub and normal don't mean much.

that's actually due to cherino's normal skill that gives focused fire debuff
probably got proc'd when chesed's the only enemy
It's not exclusively because of Cherino, if your unit is closer to Chesed than she is to the mob, then she will prioritize attacking Chesed's hard shell.

Move Tsubaki with Serina and focus on Rabu first.
I did it with B.Neru, Mutsuki, Hina, Koharu, with Hibiki and Ako. Ako did nothing though so I could have replaced her with anything.

She repositions, she shields, she buffs crit damage and she has an attack sub so she can coexist with Ako so she seems to be a unit that will be pretty useful going forward if I need to reposition or shield like in Shirokuro.

Repositions are also always in high demand given that our options for repositioning are like Serina, Mimori and Fuuka so Shizuko should be great.
the only issue is that she has a rather low attack stats, won't matter much since the normal attack buff kind of made up for it
Well she's a welfare and fairly overloaded for one. I wouldn't be surprised if they made her a summer limited with a kit like that but she was a farmable freebie instead.

I got about a spark left after spending 400 on sHoshi and 260 on fox&oni.
I roll all limiteds and skip all non-limiteds with some exceptions, if pyro balance is looking very flush, so this is cutting things a bit fine.
Curious to see if devs finally course-correcting to having an, er, limited number of limiteds sticks, or if it's back to spam after this anni.
None, I barely had enough for the rate up and for the current banners, now I'm dry. If limited summer Shiroko happens after riding then I'm fricked, but oh well. Actually got Alice yesterday so my heart will take skipping that banner much easier than it would have otherwise.

It's pretty much as complicated as you want to have it. Some parts are just straightforward writing stuff and adding pictures, through what is basically a google docs interface; others are dealing with extracting game resources and extensive scripts to transform game data into something readable. Puttering with JP-EN translations. CSS styling, some javascript. It's not a single-discipline type thing.
I'm not really, truly alone, there's one anon that took over entire event section when I was at the end of my rope, and he's been doing a tremendous amount of work. And as always, we stand on the shoulders of giants that came before us.

Yeah, I had to settle for two openings this time around, so I optimized getting the waves out of the way as fast I could. Indoor Chesed felt much comfier than this one, probably because Iori's at her best there.

There's already a similar situation in Perorozilla, every medium peroro has a focus fire status applied at the start and once they're downed that's how they get your students to change targets to the non-knocked over ones. I believe it's based on the order of application but I don't know if it's most recent or oldest that gets targeted first.

I think this was the first time attack I managed to 4/4/4 and I even did it on the first day while at work so I couldn't put too much time into it. The 3rd team barely pulled it off but I didn't think to borrow anyone, if I had grabbed an Iroha it would have been easy mode.
Same, I only have S.Ayane as my one and only TS and no one set any Iroha as their support, but I can still do a 4/4/4 clear even with only 1 team abusing the cost regen system. Still hate the fact that you need a TS to even utilize the mode advantage and all TS outside of the freebie are 3*s

There really isn't any reason to think about it too deeply.

Stoke and Causew are the people making the guides and resources and their names are included so you can message them if there's any mistakes in the resources. There's plenty more names out there too because it's useful to attach a name for what they do, you just haven't paid attention or noticed.

Azusa's attack actually were pretty small compared to her other of AR like Serika or Shiroko, no? unless Saori got botched ATK stats pretty sure she'll definitely perform very well even without 4 Arius looking how her kit synergize a lot with Ako and her EX only cost 4 looking at the datamine. Also in the future granted with more Arius released (alts), Saori seems good enough to roll even if you don't have 4 Arius at the moment.

there are two types of crit res - rate and dmg.
sIzuna's is cdmg res debuff not crate. so you are good.

crit dmg res is to lower the damage taken by criticals.
the thing is S.Izuna is not as game changing as Saori. There is already a lot of ST dps.

Now, regarding the character i want, i'm torn between Onsen Nodoka and Cyclist Shiroko, so i don't know which one to choose. I'd appreciate insight on which character has more value
Onsen Nodoka is pretty versatile. Preemptively spend 4 cost that would give sustained single target healing to anyone in range within 30 seconds. Mostly sees use in PvP and Hiero, but her versatility allows you to experiment on other scenarios as well. Pretty useless in PvE since your team moves around. Team ATK buff sub.
Cyclist Shiroko... is pretty lackluster. Damage and huge ATK debuff is okay I guess? Allows you to tank hits a bit better. I only saw her ever get used in some Shirokuro runs and that's it. Not even Perorozilla. Can't say anything more since I barely watched videos with her

It's most likely a strategy that relies on using the other 2 teams strategically and retreating before the time is up so they get the same time as a 2-team clear even if they're doing 3 teams.

I've been running fun teams daily until today, and you can slot a lot of variations of bKarin/Chise/Ui/sHoshi(as team tank, with or without healing)/Iroha/sIzuna/sChise/Arisu/Haruna etc. My nyutsuki is maxed so she always was autoincluded, but anon above managed a good run without her. Normal Hoshino is good enough tank now to just survive with only Ako heals and EX shield, too. Maki transcends her typing, again.
I'd agree that Nyutsuki and Iroha are MVPs, but even if you consider those two locked in (which, again, anon above demonstrates isn't really a hard rule), that means four students are widely variable.
You can just scroll through midrange-and-below plats ladder and there is a reasonable variety of teams there. If that doesn't fit "many viable student combinations" term then I don't know what would.
Many viable student combinations to me is more of using Akari/Aru/Mutsuki and using interesting repositioning strats rather than being locked to S.Hina, while this raid is just

Ako is a complete balancing-failure of a character and everyone knows this, wouldn't be surprised if they add crit damage down features on raid bosses later

My blue roster: Iroha (M777 UE30 and the only reason I'm doing EX at all), Haruna, Chise, S.Chise, Izuna, S.Izuna, Alice (all 3444 because I'm almost f2p, everyone is Lv. 75 and T6-T7)
Other possibly useful ones: Iori, Maki, S.Hoshino, Hifumi (no Natsu so I need either of Hifumi/Mari/Utaha to survive), Cherino, onsen Chinatsu, Saki, some other assorted rabble but nobody I see being actively used and most certainly no other limiteds.

As for teams, try maybe using a Iroha carry team? You're an Akolet so borrow Iroha and Ako her and then random bullshit for your team because you're missing Nutsuki and can't borrow her due to no Ako.
The ticket is up and I still have the gift boxes from the stream so after buying I may even be able to level up her skills somewhat (after leveling Iroha I'm kinda out of Gehenna stuff). I don't exactly intend to tryhard too much because that's for whales, but guaranteed EX/gold and an occasional plat if I get lucky would be nice (I only have the very first Binah plat, but sadly I dropped the game soon after due to extremely poor rolls and came back shortly before 1.5th).
Whales and day1 players. I've played since day1 and have honestly been kinda lazy doing the bare minimum sometimes when a new FOTM catches my attention but I've gotten plat in every single raid since launch without fail.
With my piss poor gacha rolls I couldn't do much on the first Chesed already, so I wouldn't have been able to keep plat-ing anyway, but I do regret that I dropped the game for so long.
Oh, and right now I'm at about 7 minutes and 12.6kk score (after taking assist NY Mutsuki and using up Iroha I'm basically out of firepower, even though they leave only 1.5kk out of 8kk of HP). Can Ako make up for that difference if I buy and use her instead of Kotama or Hanae? I can technically unlock Karin with shards, but don't think that would make enough of a difference, if any at all.
Bought Ako and used the last of my resources to level her a bit... I realize she'll be useful in the long run, but so far, with the same team of Haruna + rental Nutsuki + S.Hoshino + Hifumi + Iroha:

It shouldn't be working better with Kotama since her sub doesn't stack with Iroha, but somehow it does. Her area EX buff is crazy strong.
Prioritize Ako's EX and her cdmg sub, both should be maxed. The other two can go to 7.
You lose a lot of damage if Ako's sub is kept at 1.
Like I wrote, 341M, sub is maxed out, EX I just don't have enough BDs right now to level further (spend everything I had on Iroha already, may be able to get it to 4 at best), for the other two I don't have any books left anyway. Rolling Iori and Iroha at the same time drained me entirely of Gehenna mats, including raid shop.
I'm surprised you can even survive with Hifumi/Shoshino honestly. But if you can survive then Mutsuki/Iroha should be able to kill?

Obviously I don't have her, or I probably would've fared a little better. Though I've seen people run _both_ Natsu and S.Hoshino (so not terribly different from my Hifumi and S.Hoshino) and still manage to 1T, so maybe it is in the end the question of leveling enough.
S.Hoshino tanks everything except for the laser perfectly, and I just need to activate Hifumi the moment mini-Peroros are summoned for the laser, it's easy to survive. The problem is dealing enough damage, and Nutsuki/Iroha doesn't seem to be enough. Maybe I should replace Haruna with someone, but frankly anyone in that slot does about the same damage-wise.
What star/UE level is the borrowed mutsuki?
Right now trying with UE30, but I think I will have an UE50 rental tomorrow (honestly don't remember). I could try with UE50 now if I can add someone with one as a friend.

What worked for me was to Ako+mutsuki to down the initial wave before moved then Ako mutsuki again to hit 3 mini peroros + the main one.
Mutsuki is great to down the waves as they spawn and reduce damage done to your tank so I can just skip healing Natsu and let her die after the transition but dunno if that would work with no Natsu. Maybe try a practice run borrowing a Natsu and just all in on Iroha? It might be better because you won't have to waste AP on Hifumi and SHoshino EX wont be a dead slot on your bar.
I have a 40s diff with Ako + Iroha.
Iroha AOE is much more consistent to hit without any positioning needed
Maybe my problem is that Iroha is UE30 and not UE50, but I'm not sure I can justify throwing 1500 more shards at her (I only have slightly more than that), as good as she is. UE50 requirement for some things is a scam really, if you're not a whale you can have like one or two of those outside of farmable units.
for this terrain UE40 should be enough. you just want passive+ for toramaru itself to get x2 attack buffs
Does UE40 make that much of a difference? The upgrade window says that it will add 528 ATK (at my current skill level 7), which is about 10% - certainly not a small number, but I'm not sure if it's enough to deal 1.5kk more damage in four minutes (3:30 really considering I can only summon Iroha after using Hifumi and rental Nutsuki).
Damage numbers are for some reason absolutely unreliable in this raid, but I tried to compare my UE30 Iroha with rental UE40 Iroha (also mine normal/sub 7 and that one normal/sub 10) in a party of Haruna/Chise/S.Hoshino/Hifumi + Iroha/Kotama (Ako seriously doesn't work for me, tried with both Irohas, does much better with UE40 Iroha but still not better than Kotama). Not scientific (since I'm not terribly skilled) but the UE30 leaves around 3.3kk HP and UE40 leaves around 2.3kk HP. It's still not gonna be enough to 1T for me if combined with rental Nutsuki, but it's more of a difference than I initially expected. Iroha stronk.
Now that I think about it, I probably don't have any friends or guildmates with UE50 Nutsuki, seems that at best it's UE40. Quite rare to come about, and most people who have one are obviously at the friend limit already.

Trying now, it's incredibly hit or miss as far as scores go, but my best attempt with UE50 Nutsuki is 1.13kk left (with Ako instead of Kotama, focusing only on Nutsuki before her EX), which is 300k better than my previous best. I feel like I could bring that down 300k further if I managed to land that last Nutsuki EX, but I'm running out of time every single time by a second or two. Seriously no resources to max out S.Hoshino's EX and regen though. Really makes you see why Natsu is kind of a must, saves at the very least 6 AP compared to my current setup (everyone dies way too fast if I skip Hifumi on the third wave so can't save AP that way).

Yeah actually no I fricking can't because apparently Tsukuyo fricking melts instantly and somehow I'm out of the materials to enhance equipment so I can't raise Haruka's equips. Glad Summer Chise does below mediocre on max output, Arisu and Summer Izuna dies on the screen change no matter what and are practically unusable, and the outdoor blues are all unfarmable! I love this raid so much.

I did actually put in Maki instead of Haruna and whether it's pure luck or not I went from 1.1-1.4kk left to exactly 0.5kk left. She doesn't damage much but I guess the debuff works?
Hoshi isn't exactly invulnerable, but yes I do use her EX shield to tank some of the damage, though my Hoshi is somewhat underskilled. Maki is a good budget option if you have her maxed anyway, she slots pretty decently into the downtimes when you have no small peroros to AOE, and need to use up some cost. I would run someone with blue damage is Maki wasn't UE50 and perfectly maxed.
What's the targetting on sIzuna used on? Maybe I can do something like this though both my Maki and Iroha are lacking so I'd need to figure out someone for that spot
Usually the boss itself, it's mostly used for incoming crit damage debuff.

Holy shit it's possible. Not plat by a long shot, but in a mock battle I managed to 1T with six seconds left (it did take UE40 on Iroha though). Seems that with my party it takes luck, crit luck, and a very specific initial order of skills (Hifumi to survive -> Ako -> Nutsuki -> Iroha). And an occasional lucky EX of Maki. Sweet jesus I'm not gonna reproduce that in a real battle, but I'm just glad it's not impossible.
Tried running S.Izuna, she deals okay damage, but I can't stop her from dying. Might've been easier if I had normal Hoshino, I guess.
This is my best. I'm glad I managed to 1T, though as you can see I won't be able to plat (rank 13k, and I assume plat is over 14kk points by now). For a team without Natsu or N.Hoshino I guess this is passable enough...?

the healing requirement is still pretty harsh, after 2-3T you would have burned thru all the decent healers (koharu/serina/onodoka/etc)
so without arius squad and/or decked out azusa, you have issue doing enough damage to kill within 2-3T
This is why I couldn't clear EX last time, I simply don't have enough decent healers, only the effectively free ones, so it's either 1T with a borrow or bust.

I miss the old patch when you could just use a spare account that has unlocked raid and just retreat at the start of the fight and instantly forfeit the battle for a score. Makes it easier to be the lowest scorer.
What makes you unable to do that now?
i assume if you didn't kill the boss it doesn't give you a score, so it's tedious where you need to run the timer (>4T worth) and then kill the boss to get the bare minimum score.
