There are shitloads of spinoffs which capcom will never bother with. For BN alone there's 4.5, battle chip challenge, Network Transmission, and a wonderswan game of all things. Even if all the collections end up on switch those games won't be there.
That would be baffling, with only 3 games, 1 already being an offshoot. And maybe some phone games and that other side stuff if they're feeling really generous.

1. BN6 is the best overall package.
2-3. People fight over whether BN2 or BN3 was better. They're both very expansive games with lots going on, though if you ask me BN3 went up its own ass with its postgame challenges.
4. BN5 was a return to form from BN4, but it's a pain in the ass with garbage overworld design, a polarizing new gimmick, and lacking folder variety. It also started the "one Program Advance per battle" limit which made folders even worse feeling.
5-6. People will fight over whether BN1 or BN4 was worse. Both of them are similar in that they're barebones games their two immediate sequels built on, so which one is better to you depends on what you like. BN1 had a better story, BN4 had better gameplay... in-battle, at least.
Actual Garbage: Battle Chip Challenge could have been fun if you could take a break between fights. You can't because whoever designed this game was a fricking moron.
Someone already fixed BCC rng combat. It's still not great but i enjoyed the game enough to spend 20+ hours on it. Yeah, the official game without mod is literally unplayable.

If you like the fusion-based gameplay of the latter games, 6 is the best interpretation of that, though I would regard it as low tier compared to 2 and 3.
5 has an interesting concept in Liberation Missions and makes strides to redeem the otherwise DOGSHIT dark chip system, but is bad overall.
If you find you really liked 5 and 6, 4 provides more of that experience, I guess.
1 is rough, like all first games in a Capcom series, but still has a much stronger narrative than 4-6 so it may be worth playing from that perspective- after all it introduces you to the characters you'll be seeing a lot of for the rest of the franchise.
2 or 3. 3 has better customisation but is weighed down by the very same feature that allows for said customisation, while 2 has a better overworld and dungeon system.
2 is the best paced.
Its story beats are wild, is only about 12 hours long but has less filler than other games besides the backtracking of the FreezeMan arc, and the Netopia segment is a prime example of EXCELLENT game design and immersion which no other game in the series attempted.
3=6 > 5 > 2 > 1 >>>>>> 4.

Overworld navigation in 2 was intentionally obtuse and made worse with a high encounter rate. This was partly done since 2 ditched the isolated COMP dungeons from BN and SF1 in favor of having your normal every day wave roads serve also serve as dungeons during events. So they had to make them annoying to traverse.
I think this change was both a time saver and also an attempt to make it more like the Star Force anime since that never had fights/scenes take place inside computers. Everything happened on wave roads.
BN6 had like 1/3 of it's content removed for the international release and I'm certain capcom isn't going to be reimplementing it for these ports (aka paid rom dumps)
Playing English patched versions of the Japanese game is the only way to experience it

DLC characters fully playable on the disc were cut from the base game to make money off them later. In MvC:I's case, even before people found out it was the case with the other 5 for the season people knew about Sigma being on the disc because he was a Pre-order Bonus.

How would you rate the games in terms of worst to best? I only played 3-5 and 4 was my favorite because of how easy searchsoul made the game, but apparently 4 wasn't that good
1. BN6 is the best overall package.
2-3. People fight over whether BN2 or BN3 was better. They're both very expansive games with lots going on, though if you ask me BN3 went up its own ass with its postgame challenges.
4. BN5 was a return to form from BN4, but it's a pain in the ass with garbage overworld design, a polarizing new gimmick, and lacking folder variety. It also started the "one Program Advance per battle" limit which made folders even worse feeling.
5-6. People will fight over whether BN1 or BN4 was worse. Both of them are similar in that they're barebones games their two immediate sequels built on, so which one is better to you depends on what you like. BN1 had a better story, BN4 had better gameplay... in-battle, at least.
Actual Garbage: Battle Chip Challenge could have been fun if you could take a break between fights. You can't because whoever designed this game was a fricking moron.

If you like the fusion-based gameplay of the latter games, 6 is the best interpretation of that, though I would regard it as low tier compared to 2 and 3.
5 has an interesting concept in Liberation Missions and makes strides to redeem the otherwise DOGSHIT dark chip system, but is bad overall.
If you find you really liked 5 and 6, 4 provides more of that experience, I guess.
1 is rough, like all first games in a Capcom series, but still has a much stronger narrative than 4-6 so it may be worth playing from that perspective- after all it introduces you to the characters you'll be seeing a lot of for the rest of the franchise.

2 or 3. 3 has better customisation but is weighed down by the very same feature that allows for said customisation, while 2 has a better overworld and dungeon system.

Its story beats are wild, is only about 12 hours long but has less filler than other games besides the backtracking of the FreezeMan arc, and the Netopia segment is a prime example of EXCELLENT game design and immersion which no other game in the series attempted.

Overworld navigation in 2 was intentionally obtuse and made worse with a high encounter rate. This was partly done since 2 ditched the isolated COMP dungeons from BN and SF1 in favor of having your normal every day wave roads serve also serve as dungeons during events. So they had to make them annoying to traverse.

BN6 has a content patch that restores the post-game, and there are emulators with Beast Gate utility so you can access all that shit too.
BN6 had like 1/3 of it's content removed for the international release and I'm certain capcom isn't going to be reimplementing it for these ports (aka paid rom dumps)
