I've noticed a ton of talk about half life the past few weeks. Probably related to the YouTube documentary. Not gonna be a more opportune time for Valve to spill the beans on episode 3 and ride the hype train.
Won't happen though
think about this every time I pick one up, bet most people can't throw punches that fast

It’s because of the 25th anniversary, updated edition and free giveaway

Yes the 25th anniversary documentary, which links to a website where the updated version is detailed and the steam store page where you could get it for free if you watched it when it first released.
Wasn't really my point.
A typical 2 foot crowbar weighs about 3 and a half pounds anon. And the one in Half-Life looks a bit shorter than 2 feet.
(The real problem is a crowbar is a shitty shape for a melee weapon.)
depends on the bar stock used. Gordon's is ~34" long assuming this promo is accurate. I've got a 36" one that weighs about 18 pounds. 5 or 15 pounds you're not swinging it 4 times a second.
>super sekrit gubmint science and research facility >guards only carry pistols >you will never see a guard armed with a shotgun >meanwhile if you go to US nuke plants, US bases and even in Lockheed Martin/McDonalds Douglas research facilities dead deep in the desert you'll see company guards heavily armed with assault rifles or PDWs/SMGs
>see parts of a faciltiy >decide that you're an expert on the entire operation and all of their personnel, equipment, and procedures
not advisable to jump to such conclusions, anon
>Detail is smeared pointlessly
more like non-existent detail is blurred so you don't notice how low detail and noisy a lot of the textures are. I like no-filtering in most old game (like Quake) but in HL a lot of the textures look like blurry jpegs anyway and all the weathered textures like rusty metal and peeling paint I think look better with filtering. If it was all relatively crisp stuff like the diamond plate catwalks I would say turn it off.
Disagree entirely, the crunchy look suits the fairly low poly models and geometry. I turned it on and off several times and every time I tried it the filtering looked worse, more smeared and drab. Yes, unfiltered looks grainy when standing right next to it, but filtered just looks like an N64 game's textures when standing right next to it, it's a 1998 game, I roll with it.

WAT
first time i played this i literally had no idea you had to use grenades to pass them. the tentacles were so loud that it literally made barney inaudible.
in team fortress classic you could use the console to make the Black Mesa announcer say: GORDON FREEMAN HAS A HOT ASS! good times.
>hd models
get out
Gordon must be jacked as frick, irl crowbars are unwieldy as hell
With how little damage it does, it must be hollow
>how little
How many swings does it take you to bust open crates, smash vent grills, and kill aliens, tough guy?
Dis you?
Have you used a crowbar before? They weigh like 20lbs. A typical sword is like 2-4lbs.
I haven’t, what are their uses in 2023?
Work.
Prying things apart primarily
I know, but the speed at which he moves a 20lb mass of steel back and forth is still crazy even for a machine.
>the speed is crazy even for a machine
not really
I've literally never had the opportunity to use a crowbar, prybars sure but they are flat tiny shits
whats a lbs
little baby stinky
uh oh
about half a kgs
Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Stones
Idk anon, last time I picked up a crowbar when I found it as a kid, could swing it just fine.
I'm not saying it's hard to swing one, I'm saying the rate at which Gordon swings one is insanely fast.
Gordon is built differently though. Well, I guess that was your point...

And the HL Deathmatch return.
It is, and it used to make me laugh as a kid playing Uplink, it was so fast and loud with the rapid animation.

Turn that texture filtering off and turn the HD models off.
lol. texture filtering was in the release version. I played it on my intel740. amazingly decent card, really.
I don't care. Unfiltered looks better. Detail is smeared pointlessly with the filtering and colors are muted.

Can't you crouchwalk so they don't notice you? I don't remember.
Yea, you toss a grenade to the opposite side of where you want to go then crouch-walk.
