99.9% of PC gamers have mouse sensitivity 2-3X higher than it should be. change my mind. I watch some gameplay someone posts and I CRINGE at the high mouse sens, you can tell by how they look (well, attempt) to look at shit, overshoot when aiming, etc.

growing up I played e1 on UV no problem. EZ. But e2 and e3 (I didn't have ultimate doom, so no e4) were SCARY so I played them on the easiest difficulty. lmao. I did get Doom 2 but my sound drivers were fricked somehow, so I could only listen to the music while playing it - no sound effects. made that extra scary too

42 yo here, in 2001+ we played counter strike with the normal controls you think of today. the weird stuff was before that and when things were just getting figured out

Can confirm. Happened with consoles too. Took devs a good 5 years to figure out the modern dual stick movement scheme that literally every modern game uses, which in itself was a compromise to approximate the finer control of kb+m. We used to have to turn using the shoulder buttons and strafe with C or square/circle
When it's the only option you get used to it. Basically every game that wasn't a side-scroller in those days some kind of control or camera problems.
Movement on keypad, 8-2 for forward-back, 4-6 for turn left-right. Keypad 7 for previous weapon, 9 for next weapon, 0 for jump. Z and X strafe left and right. F and V look up and down, C centers view on the horizon. Control for primary fire and spacebar for secondary fire. Run on shift instead of capslock because I'm not lame.
