>boomers really saw this and thought "holy shit"
No. Not really. The intros for Tekken 1 and 2 were generally seen as goofy and cheesy.
Especially when the same company made this killer intro video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtF80UCgarY
I wish Soul Edge/Calibur was the more popular franchise.
Conceptually it's so much better. A bunch of cool characters with different weapons, instead of a bunch of dudes who all punch.
Most of you Black folk don't even realize it since you were not born yet but the PS1 had the best and highest sound quality at the time. Hearing music like this out of a game was quite novel. Even the mighty PC had shit sound quality not that much better than a Snes'. Compare games like FF7 or FF8 on PC to the PS1 versions. The sound quality was like night and day. PC still stuck using MIDI Snes-tier trash. It was embarrassing.

Nope, going by the world wide release (and not Japan 94). You were up against Warcraft 1, Command and Conquer, and Mechwarrior 2, Full Throttle.
There were plenty of other great sounding games that didn't use CD Audio (Doom music).
This was my exposure to the game back in the day and then countless hours playing against my friend at his house. I never did get the game as it turns out fighting games are not my forte.
>that fricking music
What happened to soul, bros?
Tekken 2 had the best soundtrack in the series and it's not even close

It is such a huge step up from the first game that is for sure.
Tekken 1 had this absolute banger though.
Namco's in house audio team was next level. Pumping out hits for tekken, ridge racer, air (ace) combat and others in a very short window.
Yoshimitsu's stage from PS1 is burned into my brain forever.

Agreed. I pop on the OST at least once every few months and get tracks stuck in my head on the regular.
I'm assuming the first link goes to anna? which is the same as king george in tekken 1?
I miss this Paul.
Dude looks Asian.
So like any other Germanic?
No we said "holy shit" when we saw the unlockable bear and kangaroo
misquote, meant for OP
Absolutely. Tekken 2 ruled the world for a time/
Even today it still is holy shit, the music is kino

I never met one single solitary person who even knew what soul edge was.
I wish Soul Edge/Calibur was the more popular franchise.

Absolute S O U L
Still do
How the frick did I just watch the movie and just think to myself "holy shit"
Can confirm. Best thing ever when I was 10, I was genuinely blown away by the movies.
Still remember trying to complete it 50 times in a row to unlock the cheerleader outfit for that girl.
Also kino
Tekken 2 and Tekken 4 are pure soul
You don't get soul like this in modern Tekken.
Absolute kino
King and Armor King peaked early
Toy Story came out 3 months after this game did, and you have to understand how big of a jump that was in such a short time.
one of the greatest intros to a videogame ever. that song is so badass it hurts
Yes.

All games the Playstation had to downgrade to run
>even the mighty PC had shit sound quality
lmaoing at you

OP thought he'd make a thread people would shit all over him in "holy shit" it worked. Your coprophagia really is insatiable.
I miss the old soundtrack
It's a literal kino intro that ascends that ages. The graphics aren't great. Who gives a shit.
For me it's the soulblade intro.
I want to boil Nina's spaghetti hair in a pot full of water.
