>You wanted a 1:1 remake
Isn't that the fricking point? If it isn't then don't fricking use the word "remake". Maybe it didn't have 100% spot on with the original but what was the point of it if it isn't faithful to the original story?
This was basically an interactive cutscene. The game wasn't designed around 1v1 battles, it's supposed to be fore dramatic moments like this or like when Barret is fighting Dyne. 1v1 battles make up like 15 minutes of a 40 hour game.
If I'm gonna be honest, even 1v1 fights in FF7R are kinda shitty. I honestly hated the Yuffie DLC because you could only play as her and issue commands to the other guy. FF7 and FF7R both shine because you're playing as a party of three that you've leveled and made a build for, not one guy.
I agree. I'd like a whole new game with a whole new story. We almost got that with 7r but they were too afraid to leave the original behind, so we got a lot or rehashing. And the new story isn't very good.
I don't see the point in a remake that is the same but with updated graphics. I like new things. But I still want them to be good. Most people who complain about the time jannies aren't complaining about 100 other new things remake did. It seems weird to pretend that anyone who wanted to see the original story retained didn't want any changes whatsoever.
putting aside how dishonest your post is, making a game again with prettier graphics makes sense when the game is 25 years old out made to output at 240p. not to mention the inconsistent lego shit.
Its not dishonest, you already got the story the first time around. You can only experience something for the first time once, no matter how pretty they make the remake, its still the same story so it really wont have a bigger impact on me.
Dont tell me you got more out of the bombing mission this time around? its the same shit just prettier. "Better graphics please" is such a drone mentality
it's literally what people were excited for
notice how sales essentially stopped after people found out it's some time frickery/alternate universe sequel
You don't know they're gone for good. Those specific ones yes, but there could be more.
I didn't want a 1:1 remake, but I also didn't want this game spread out across multiple re-releases. The game didn't need to have a remake if they're going to change so much.
Gacha games are terrible. Mobile gaming isn't gaming.
If the original was shit, it wouldn't have had remakes in the first place.
>You don't know they're gone for good.
They are. Pay attention next time. >The game didn't need to have a remake if they're going to change so much.
Look up what "remake" means. >Mobile gaming isn't gaming.
/ffg/ would like a word with you about that. >If the original was shit, it wouldn't have had remakes in the first place.
lol what? If the original was good there would be no demand for a remake. People don't beg for remakes of good games. Why do you think so many people are against remaking Resi 4?
>boomers thought this looked like real life
Wrong, even as a kid when 7 came out I knew they looked like that due to limitations at the time. Characters were supposed to look as they did in cutscenes
I always thought it was weird how he wears purple in that form. Even in the "blockier" FMVs like this so it's like it's just a totally intentional design thing and not just to make him stand out from the background, or due to some color limitation which didn't exist on PS1 anyway.
But in concept art, the higher quality FMVs, and every iteration of Cloud since is somewhere between dark blue and black, without any hint of purple. The battle model is a little shiny like it's treading that purple line, but is still just blue.
The purple outfit isn't even a Smash alt either, which seems like something Sakurai would do.
It's like purple wearing blocky Cloud is just another character existing solely within the overworld or the shittier FMVs.
People made fun of the toaster hands even back then. People didn't understand JRPGs back then so when they saw this pic next to something like Ridge Racer or Tekken they laughed.
FF7 looked good in its day
Ironically, FF7R isn't at all impressive in its day, with a lot of the criticism being about how shit its textures are, not to mention the low quality NPCs. Aside from the main cast and one or two showcase locations, it's not a great looking game. It will age worse in the long run.
>FF7 looked good in its day
It really didn't. Not compared to other FFs or other PS1 games.
Even in terms of 3D environments, Mario RPG back on the fricking SNES looked better than FF7.
FF7 was good in spite of its graphics, not because of them.
Its weird how Chrono Trigger aged better than FF7. Honestly all the 2D sprite/pixel RPGs did. >muh camera sweeps
Who fricking cares. FF7 looks like blended shit and ass. They didn't get polygons right until FFIX.
>never got into the series >decide to play them all >I like all of them except II and VI >VII and VIII are pure ass >then suddenly FFIX is fantastic >start looking into wtf happened >Sakaguchi gave Kitase Nomura and Nojima far more control in VI, VII and VIII >he really didn't like VIII and took it all back for IX
Nomura, Nojima and Kitase are pure fricking cancer. Everything they make is terrible even going back to FFVII.
My dear troon, no one gives a shit about your moronic opinions on anything, let alone a series you were too fricking stupid to get into. Dilate, you fricking disgusting, dickless homosexual.
A remake that told the original story with a decent translation would have been great. Now we have a kingdom hearts sequel to a game with a plot most people don't understand because all these years later we still don't have a good translation for it.
>remake that told the original story with a decent translation would have been great.
And thats it? Thats your remake? Kek just install a mod and dont waste devs time
>And thats it?
No? They could still improve the graphics, sound, battle system, add lots of new stuff. I'm just saying it would have been great to get an upgraded version of FF7 that didn't have a mangled translation.

whatever you do, do NOT let that anon away with wanting the remake battle system in a game which retains the OG story but with a good translation. just keep saying "play mods" over and over until he submits.
I had this attitude for a long time. Really starting with FF12 since I didn't think FF should be an action game. But after playing the remake I realize how boring it would have been to just have better graphics. The combat is pretty fun in FF7R and the Materia system is still in tact.
I would have preferred a full remake with less filler still though. Some of the expanded Midgar parts are alright but not a single sidequest is good, the drawn out boring section of neutering the Airbuster was dumb, and Hojo's Drum went on way too long.
>I realize how boring it would have been to just have better graphics.
I agree, which is why that's not what I asked for. What's with all these strawman responses?
I kinda misread the "story" part as keeping the same gameplay too, sorry.
I guess I just enjoy the KH combat, I just never enjoyed all the Disney shit which is why FF7R impresses me but I never touched KH.
It was the FMVs that blew people away. Now they kinda look like a joke but still, it was crazy at the time to me. I didn't know as a kid that it was just a video file on a disc playing. I just called them cutscenes and figured no gameplay meant more graphics.
It does seem dated and inconsistent as a result though. In retrospect, I hated how sometimes they used the character's concept art proportions, but then sometimes even a full FMV would use the blocky ones like the wheelchair scene.
FF8 did a great job being more consistent with everything. The overworld, battle, and FMV models all had the same proportions. Though FF7 is still a way better game.
Nah, we laughed about the square hands back then too.
But the FMVs?!
Man, people hadn't seen ANYTHING like it before, and the trend they started with VII continued through VIII and IX until there was demand for a fricking feature length CG Final Fantasy film. which was crap

It's a subtitle, mongoloid.
Cope.
This was basically an interactive cutscene. The game wasn't designed around 1v1 battles, it's supposed to be fore dramatic moments like this or like when Barret is fighting Dyne. 1v1 battles make up like 15 minutes of a 40 hour game.

I can give you that is what people wanted, but for what fricking purpose?
Because FF7 is a beloved game and people wanted to re-experience it with modern graphics since they put out the PS3 tech demo back in 2005
>the original game was shit
no it wasn't, and if you didn't like it, why the frick are (You) complaining then?

thats how real life looked back then, dumb zoomer
no, it does look better than the ultra realistic zoomer shit though.

GIRUGAMESH
FF7 was literally never praised for its realistic graphics, unless they were talking about the CGI FMVs which were indeed pretty good for its time.
Aside from that, technology improves over time, often rendering that which came before quaint and irrelevant. The same thing will happen to you.
People made fun of the toaster hands even back then. People didn't understand JRPGs back then so when they saw this pic next to something like Ridge Racer or Tekken they laughed.
