Not him, but the DLCs make the game a lot better, gameplay wise.
With all the DLC they added the progression becomes incredibly varied thanks to the ability to jump between the different areas from the first 10 minutes.
I couldn't imagine playing vanilla BL2. Without getting the Twister for Gaige or the Sandhawk for Maya, or without having the Headhunter packs to rely on when being under leveled or needing a quick gear upgrade etc.

joking aside, I agree that many items have genuinely fricked up drop rates in bl2 and should have been toned down
especially when there are legendaries and quest rewards that not only perform better than some super rare items but are also easier to acquire
The UCP makes the Twister drop from Dexidious, so he actually has a use. I still expect to sit in front of the screen for a few hours even with those measures.
Also with Gaige it's not about performance anyways, Twister is just really fricking cool and mixes well with Anarchy.

I don't think you realize how moronicly hard it is to get the Twister legitimately. Especially solo, what I play, it is considered almost impossible to even get the enemy that drops it to spawn.
In my over 2000 hours of playtime I have never gotten the enemy to spawn in a Vanilla playthrough.
The UCP makes an otherwise useless raid boss the source for the Twister which kills two birds with one stone. And even with that change, the effort put in to get a Twister is still respectable, just not near impossible.
The gameplay is stellar, I mean the writing of them. You start to see modern Gearbox oozing through the cracks.

Maya's book is the key to bringing her back. After you beat the game and you have the little gathering of the VH 'ghosts' - Brick, Mord, Lillith - Maya is also there and she has certain dialogue lines that imply there's a way to revive her. Unfortunately those dialogue lines are random and if you want to hear them you have to sit and wait for her to say them and it is random. She does mention that blue is not her natural hair color.

Too many times the game does this thing where it shows you a cutscene with something bad happening but prevents you from doing anything because it's a cutscene.
Why can't I do something to prevent this? Why is my character a drooling moron that would rather have a 3 course meal consisting of dirt, crayons and paint chips than do anything to stop this?

Pre-Sequel is decent, just slow at the beginning and then it just kinda ends. It has the best characters in the franchise and the best DLC expansion however.
3 is only worth it if you play it on mute. I was really invested into the lore, characters and all that (gay, I know), and 3 swiftly destroyed any interest I had in the franchise. With that said, the gameplay's tight, if that's what you're looking for.

Turn the dialogue volume to 0 and you'll be fine. The story and characters are complete dogshit.
You can also just straight up delete voice files and it will skip through the voice scenes faster. Unfortunately you still have to let animations play out. So it helps in some areas and in others there’s really no change.
Main story is shit, gameplay is amazing, DLCs are great and com0ensate for the story. Get the best version when it's on sale

I had no problems with this
Custom class didn't feel as exciting, despite its combo potential it didn't feel as deep. Plus I like the nuance of designing traits around an established character than a generic mold, it gives the characters more personality.

Seeing all those melee weapons around the ring probably means that we'll be getting melee in 4 as well. I wonder if they're still going to have one dedicated slot and augment your normal melee (like currently in wonderlands) or if they'll act like normal weapons that take up one of your 4 slots.

Melee needs some sort of combo, it's can be satsifying but if you don't 1 hit then you're just awkwardly looping through a singular animation. Wonderlands felt drunk. There needs to be something to launch them, something to attack midair and a more satisfying 1-2 combo and a lot more snappiness instead of fluking if you're too close.
The problem is the series expanded past Pandora and is now a generic space game. Borderlands 1 was unique in that it was a space western; an arid badlands with some futuristic tech and arms but not a lot. You were mercenary bounty hunters willing to do most things for a dollar, not rah rah freedom fighters. The writing and humor was slightly dark to fit in with the hardy landscape, not reliant on pop culture. I don't know how you can call your game franchise Borderlands when we're literally visiting space metropolises and travelling the galaxy.

I remember BL2's ambience having very longly held synth notes and some areas have a guitar play here and there which is either comfy or just generally fitting to the combat/mad max-esque theming of the game

Borderlands 3 was good bros. The story was shit no doubt but it was the first Borderlands with actual good gunplay. Every gun felt unique rather than just looking different like in the previous games.
