From what I heard Titmouse, the contracted 2D animation studio, shoved that stuff into the handful of 2D animated cutscenes without asking the director. There is no indication of that in at any other point in the game.

1, the main character has an unappealing face. The style is too western. Needs to be more anime.
2, the gameplay looked bad when you see the character actually running and jumping and hitting things. The mechanics looks very restrictive. If you can't even make running and jumping look fun, then I can't trust you with all the other mechanics.
