You will just walk around an insane amount of time interacting with characters that dont get any development or say anything interesting for a very long time, I'm unironically shocked its as popular as it is with such a shitty new player experience.

and this is also my issue. Even if characters were boring, if the gameplay was literally anything different than just walking around and talking with almost 0 combat for a long time maybe I'd get it, but I don't,
If you don’t like visual novels, you’re going to hate it. Even for someone like me that reads a ton of visual novels, this game tested my patience a lot. I dropped the game multiple times due to burnout since It gets really tedious. First and foremost, its a story game. Don’t treat it like an MMO. For the most part you’ll be soloing aside from the occasional mandatory dungeons and trials. Eventually I finished Endwalker after 5 years of playing on and off and unsubbed. Also I farmed some of the mounts that I wanted. Like the Rathalos one
You tried to rush 10 years worth of story without stopping to do the shitload of side content in between. People who have been playing for a while do like 3-4 months of nothing but battle and crafting content before getting like 2 hours of story per patch, so it's a very different game.
An MMO like any other. It might have a marginally better story than the others, but it does not excuse the tedium of fetch quests and filler
Bullshit. I went into it with this mindset - I was led to believe it's like a single-player JRPG/VN and I hated it. You need to at least tolerate MMOs to enjoy XIV
a final fantasy game without any party management, or interesting areas to explore, or secret items to collect, or fun minigames or a well paced story
yea..

it's free to level 60 with unlimited playtime. buying it at level 1 means you have to start paying a monthly fee for content you could be playing for free
The base game is boring as frick. I'm 20 hours in and I haven't faced a single challenging combat or interesting plotline. Most of the game has been walking to different npcs for text dumps.
There's a location you go back to so many times that doesn't have a waypoint near it that the devs actually made an item that teleports you to the place instead.
I'm sure the expansions are great but ARR is one of the worst AAA games I've ever played.
It’s funny because it’s true and also 1.0 was so much worse that a burning shitpile like ARR was a massive improvement the likes of which have never been seen before
ARR can be pretty rough in multiple ways, but it does get better after. I recommend making some friends to play it with ASAP, or doing the MSQ may be a bit of a slog.
All classes start out feeling pretty painfully simple, get a bit better at level 30, and don’t actually start feeling fun until around level 50 when they start getting their more complicated mechanics.
From Heavensward on its better, particularly the two most recent expansions.
>I recommend making some friends to play it with ASAP
You need to go through the MSQ alone anyway. Most of the multiplayer content is locked behind the 300 hour single-player MSQ.
Lala players are either really nice or absolute c**ts lmao literally wont give you time of the day unless you are a lala and act like a child. you just gotta ignore them and remember the entire non lala fanbase kinda hates them as well
i dont know whats up with lalafell players who just end up being annoying as shit and honestly it's not even exclusive to them it seems to be a thing with small races in any mmo
Refund it you idiot
Its nothing but doing the same thing over and over while surrounded by social outcasts who do nothing all day but pretending to have sex with each other
Everything is a chore (a good game for people who're programmed to be comfortable with a 9 to 5 job). End game is memorizing patterns and dancing, which would be fun if you didn't have a bunch of morons with you.

ARR was even worse than Lacrosse arc, somehow
Heavensward was about just as engaging as Muv-Luv Extra/Unlimited. I really don't think XIV is worth the time investment, no matter how good Shadowbringers supposedly is
the story is shit, stop trying to bait people into wasting 100's of hours of their life when they could spend less time reading an average visual novel. Black person
I have no motivation to play it anymore. I finished Endwalker msq and it seemed like the ending for me. So I just leave it as is, no desire to play anymore.
wow but japanese and just as shitty
This.

Why did you buy it when it's free?
bump
Unironically: A Final Fantasy game.
Until you've completed the story, this is more a Final Fantasy JRPG than it is an MMO.
Sounds great since I loved the single player story aspects of SWTOR

Bruh the overflow of optional content and collectables is the whole point of "endgame" in XIV.

i got so fking bored on the msq
the characters are stupid af
stormblood end killed any fun i had with it
It's a really fun single player visual novel with a good storyline that will take months to complete.
salt from wow players who can't even sing the praises of their new shiny flying mount momentum system
>rent free
why can't body type 2 wear no shirt?
I know this is a video game and this board says video games but you're not supposed to talk about this one here.
it's free to level 60 with unlimited playtime. buying it at level 1 means you have to start paying a monthly fee for content you could be playing for free
awful game until you hit the later part of heavensward.
Pretty fun game
can u finger her third eye
It would be extremely painful
It's not an MMO
It’s barely an mmo you chose bad,

A literal VN, except every few hours or so you do a 15 minute dungeon.

Midget race degeneracy
what a bunch of cuties
These players made me quit after almost 1000 h
Frick these degenerates
Lala players are either really nice or absolute c**ts lmao literally wont give you time of the day unless you are a lala and act like a child. you just gotta ignore them and remember the entire non lala fanbase kinda hates them as well

my theory is being "cute" removes shame
you probably right considering all of the "how can anyone hate lalafell we're so cute!" shit i've seen
I only like Nymian lalafells.
My brother in christ thats a tonberry
>My brother in christ
Discord moment
A cute tonberry.
>he doesn’t know
If you bought it you obviously are interested in it why do you need us to tell you in your template thread when you can play it and find out yourself?
Refund it you idiot
Its nothing but doing the same thing over and over while surrounded by social outcasts who do nothing all day but pretending to have sex with each other
10000 fetch quests
They aren't even fetch quests, they're right click on NPCs and watch poorly animated movies quests
Everything is a chore (a good game for people who're programmed to be comfortable with a 9 to 5 job). End game is memorizing patterns and dancing, which would be fun if you didn't have a bunch of morons with you.

The story is abysmal, I like some visual novels, but man, this fricking sucked. wasted 100+ hours of my life
ARR was even worse than Lacrosse arc, somehow

where gays talk about how pretty their dresses are and socialize. it's imvu and killing things mindlessly sometimes. end game content is niche
You won’t get an honest answer here, Ganker is incredibly tsundere for the game
Unless you’re Pablo in which case eat shit and die you spamming c**t
all I see are honest answers in this thread and I'm replying to a seething fanboy
Its just mostly americ**ts, for some reason you all play the game the most but also hate it the most.

>steam
oh im sorry the game becomes good if you install a client from their site?
shut up homosexual
yes but unironically
If you like story, it gets really rad as time goes on.
If you hate story… good luck.
the story is shit, stop trying to bait people into wasting 100's of hours of their life when they could spend less time reading an average visual novel. Black person
he literally said "if you like it you will like it
if you dont you wont."
??? wtf is the problem
I have no motivation to play it anymore. I finished Endwalker msq and it seemed like the ending for me. So I just leave it as is, no desire to play anymore.
