Haven't played it, but i like the setting and some of it's rules, but the campaign is so chockfull of star wars references it loses quite a lot of it's charm. Still, it has killer rabbits as a playable specie, like the ones from medieval paintings

Isn't that just in the one sourcebook, "The Empire Whacks Back"? Also, I'm annoyed they had cool stuff like the puss-in-boots analogues, ratfolk and the jackrabids and they gave us "hairy pagan humans" and "big greedy humans" as default setting races.

Yeah, that's just The Empire Whacks Back adventure. The rest is less Star Wars related and more Italian comedy fantasy related.

yeah, i know is just the empire whacks back campaign, but it still feels our of touch with the rest of the general gameline. i mean, a few references are ok, but when it's the entire thing, it can lose it charm,

It's literally called The Empire Whacks Back. It's clearly going in to be full of Star Wars references.

And to be fair it wasn't written by the main developers of the setting but by an Italian comedy group called Feudalismo e Liberta. They're schtick is acting like a political party that wants to bring back the middle ages.

The One Ring - The best Tolkien inspired RPG to date, particularly in its newest edition, as well as its 5e form Adventures in Middle Earth

Household - An RPG with a unique setting of playing small fae in an abandoned house who have formed nations based on different rooms and waged wars with each other. You have the Realm of the Dining Room ruled by the faery empress Arcadia as well as the Free Dominions of the Upper Floor ruled by the a symposium of Sprites, etc.

Broken Compass - A quick and easy, but still quite fun RPG inspired by pulp adventure stories. Inspired by Uncharted, Tomb Raider, Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean, and even has a sourcebook for the Victorian/Edwardian sci-fi adventures written by Jules Verne.

Lex Arcana - An RPG about being government agents that hunt the supernatural, with the twist that it takes place during the Roman Empire. You are secret agents of Caesar that hunt the monsters of Mediterrean Mythology.

Journey to Ragnarok - A 5e adventure and setting inspired by Viking mythology and has the aesthetic of heavy metal and power metal music, particularly the music of Manowar.

Fabula Ultima - An RPG set to emulate the experience of playing classic fantasy JRPGs like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Bravely Default, and Ni No Kuni.

and recently Outgunned - An RPG for the 80s-90s action movie genre.

These are all RPGs made by Italians and meant for a general audience. I should also add that the makers of Brancalonia, Acheron Studios, also made an adventure module inspired by Dante's Inferno and are currently writing one inspired by the Apocalypse of Saint John. In both cases there is an accompanying copy of the original work using the artwork made for the module.

Has gone on long enough to reach a third edition, i never played but i remember that had some fun mechanics for being a 2005 game (like, for example, an escalation/momentum meter).

When I GM in my settings, Italy is Brancalonia. It goes like this:
        >Italy is Brancalonia
        >Holy Roman Empire is Warhammer F Empire
        >Nordic countries are Trudvang
        >England is Birthright

ANYWAY, wasn't there talks about more books on the Brancalonia setting approaching other countries? I would probably buy the shit out of it.

Well that sucks. I don't have personally any issues in playing/running an english rulesystem but, frick me, it's a drag to convince my players in trying something that doesn't have our native language localisation and the fact this could easily been made in italian without issues but they decided not to REALLY grinds my gears. I guess i will keep using my shit GIRSA (Italian localisation for MERP) core manual pdf and the rolemaster Spell Law if i ever want to run something alike.

Fantasy rpgs that are not D&D/PF are a tough sell in Italy.

Sure but they could just made the ita one pdf only. Again i don't think was that massive endeavour to make a version of the game, that you're writing to begin with, in your native language. Heck, they literally made the lite in italian and that's like 150 pages alone.

So ya all D&Drones, like the French?

Last time I checked everyone was on the D&D/PF bandwagon because of popularity and language barrier.
                Like

Yes. Ever since the old days (i personally know some grog still running AD&D 1e/2e). We had some more variety in the 90s (in my lgs we had various BRP games, VtM, MERP and even GURPS) but thereafter is d&d all along the line with some localised white fly exceptions if you're lucky enough to know people passionate enough to try something else.

said, in the past there was ironically more choice, now it's pretty rare to find people playing non-mainstream trpg.
