BREAKING: PS5 Deviation exclusive CANCELLED

>PlayStation insider Colin Moriarty claims to have heard that the PS5 exclusive in development at Deviation Games has indeed been canceled. The writing has been on the wall for quite a while, but this is the first time we’ve heard from an insider that rumors of the project being in trouble weren’t unfounded.
>Sony announced its partnership with Deviation Games — founded by former Call of Duty developers and industry veterans — back in June 2021. Since then, we haven’t officially heard or seen anything. In September 2022, co-founder Jason Blundell departed the studio.

didn't Sony buy this studio? So what happens now? They just have this carcass and a brand name that means nothing?

I wonder the same they already had to cancel 3 Live service games of of the 12 they were originally going to make. Plus they are trying to buy another studio. This is just odd.

Sony has a long history of shutting down studios. This will be just another long list added in.

      Also from Colin Moriarty
      >Megan Fox and Travis Scott will be in MK1

They just gave them funding. They bought the studio with former IW and Bungie devs and /ourgirl/ Jade's studio.

What a waste of money. Does this mean Sony is cleaning house because of a recession?

First inflation then recession is next. Every 15 years in America this happens unfortunately.

Tomorrow but I have to think this money injection is them going to rely on remakes of classic games to soften the blow.

Sony is going all in on live service shit but none of the devs they’re working with can do live service shit so they’re shooting themselves in the foot over and over

Id rather Sony release no games than release shit games like Redfall. It's a sign of quality and strength for Sony to cancel bad games.

I'm assuming the game wasn't up to snuff after Playstation evaluated it and didn't want a Redfall situation on their hands so they cancelled it. They did the right thing, they shouldn't release a subpar game that will only hurt their brand and their platform unlike Xbox which is okay with releasing dogshit to fufill their game pass quota games on their service.

I thought Sony made games magically good by being involved with them. What happened Sonybros? Why are we OK with no games?

This was supposed to be the cod killer as well with ex treyarch devs leading the studio. First pixel opus and now this. Sony are definitely downsizing playstation.

Prove me wrong. This is the 2nd major closure or cancellation in the last couple of weeks from Sony. Closing down dev studios and cancelling games one after the other is literally downsizing.

They didn't work on original Call of Duty in the first place, they were Treyarch devs. Treyarch got source code from Infinity Ward to work on their COD.

Call of Duty became as big as it is, because it had solid foundation starting with the first game.

I can agree and also it's better to cut your losses than to go into debt spending. Still though they need to get something out.

Hopefully they announce some games tomorrow besides the obvious ones that we know about already. Playstation needs atleast one good 1st party multiplayer game, Destiny 2 is trash.

Oh no. ARC Raiders was announced like 2 years from ex-Battlefield devs, and still isn't close to being out, and has shifted into a Tarkov-style game.

I just wanted more Jason blundell zombies kino. All the best maps were when he was in control. Was actually kind of looking forward to what they were gonna make but new it was DoA when Sony bought them.

Jason Blundell is a known alcoholic and its an open secret that he'd show up to Treyarch completely wasted during BO4's development.
