I still put on WoW soundtrack from time to time whenever I get an urge to play. It's a sweet kind of pain.
Check THIS out.
i blame my entire WoW addiction on hearing the teldrassil music for the first time
>the year is 2005
>you're 8 years old
>after months of watching your father level his dwarf paladin to 60, sitting on a kitchen chair pulled up behind his computer chair, he finally lets you have a turn playing WoW
>after looking at the character screen for 20 minutes, you want to play the cool tall cow men
>you log into your very first character, a level 1 tauren warrior
>see endless green field that stretches to seemingly infinity with only mountains in the distance, makes your nintendo games you grew up with seem tiny in comparison
>spend 10 minutes trying to figure out how to even open the chat box and 40 minutes trying to ask npcs you mistake for players to help teach you how to play wondering why they're ignoring you
>finally another player, a level 2 female tauren druid asks you wtf you're doing after seeing you standing in front of an NPC asking for help
>she's new to the game too but not a complete moron and we group together
>instead of doing the Red Cloud Mesa, we both follow the road out into greater Mulgore blown away by the scale of the world and almost dying to mobs 5 levels above us
>drown and die after taking a swim in the lake, neither of us know how to speak in party chat and we can't communicate while dead
>in all my moronicness and not sure what do do, as a ghost I led the two of us away from the lake, into the barrens, into stonetalon mountains, through desolace, feralas, then thousand needles, and finally up into the barrens again before getting lost in the non-instanced area of Razorfen Downs before setting my character down and asking my dad the next day to log into my character and bring him back to life
My friend bought a paladin account in 2005 at Christmas and I remember watching him do zg and not knowing how to do anything getting yelled at by guys on vent. We were 10 and it was amazing
Soul.
DAMN SON
Why didn't they focus on feels, atmosphere and players needing to help each other, work together, and figure out shit on their own instead of just using meta guides, like it was in vanilla?
Why did they instead just turn it into yet another slot-machine cheap-dopamine-fix MMO for spergs and other low IQ morons who get off on repetition and numbers going higher?
they made raiding an esport and systematically removed anything that could be perceived as an inconvenience to the player
>Why didn't they focus on feels, atmosphere and players needing to help each other...
>they made raiding an esport
yes basically this. the designers with the most sway on the WoW team were the EQ raidgays. it only doubled down even more when they hired Ion, guild master of the raidgaygiest guild in existence (even though EJ wasn't even that good)
>tfw been chasing the high of playing WoW for the first time as a clueless kid
>tfw nothing will be able to replicate that feeling, it was a once in a lifetime thing
I was a grown man and I still chase it. Swg pre nge, city of villains, everquest. It cannot compete
The closest I've ever come to reliving that high was leveling on Turtle WoW a few years ago with permadeath on, rested exp turned off, and exp set to 0.5x
Shame the server's flooded with chinks now and not worth playing anymore but there was nothing comfier than having to sit back and enjoy the world again because my exp gains were cut in half and death lurked around every corner, helps that the server added a bunch more quests to the late game so there was never really a point where I just had to mindlessly grind mobs
Nostalrius for me, I was a junior in university at the time. I even skipped an exam to raid and still got to rewrite it. Nost had its problems but was so good
I played Nostalrius too and Nostalrius was a blast, Nostalrius rekindled my love for older MMO communities while Turtle in its prime rekindled my love for the actual game and world.
True, Nost was both. I remember the 13k server pop and stv was like a warzone. God was it Good
for me it's dun morogh
Bros...

HordeCHADS > AllianceKEKS
Horde was always filled with leftists, homosexuals, and furries. It's the reason why the faction had to stop being the "bad guys" and they had to be sanitized
The Horde stopped being the bad guys before WoW even released, moron.
