From what I am aware of, Dion's father sent him off to battle. While at camp he and his lover, Terence. Are having a moment together and Terence begs him not to use his powers, only as a last resort but Dion reassures him and then they kiss. Shortly after that they receive word that Olivier has been made Emperor and this upsets Dion so he readies himself to return to Sanbreque until Joshua steps in and interrupts.
I think that would've been nice if Clive we're able to choose who to get in a relationship with. But when it comes to the narrative particularly in Final Fantasy games, they often write the relationships with particular characters in mind. For example, Rinoa and Squall from FF8.

I would have preferred it be more decisive though. Also I think he did the book thing to justify an in universe reason why final fantasy mode exists, like how EX trails in XIV are a minstrels exaggerated retelling of events which I like but I wish it didn't mean we got that shitty epilouge instead of something with the actual characters.

No, you aren't the only one. I thought the relationship depicted was pretty good for what it was. Albeit it was far from perfect on a many different fronts. While what was communicated through Dion's and Terence's interactions were clear that they were lovers. I think there could've been more to flesh out their relationship. Especially for Terence, while he did serve a purpose in adopting the girl that saved Dion. I think he was somewhat underdeveloped as a character. This might be a minor nit pick, but I felt the sudden camera change to a wide shot once they kissed felt rather jarring. Sure they probably didn't want to waste time animating a kiss and fair enough. I just think they could've maintained the same close-up, like what was done for Clive and Jill as seen here.

The main story progression is the same kind of pacing/tempo like an FF14 expansion. Where you’ll often have “world-building filler” moments that delay getting to the next objective just to call back to it later along the line. I’m mixed on it, because it makes the high moments way more memorable, but at the same time it’s like “cmon can we skip this lower quality scenes and get to the good stuff?”
Gameplay wise it’s just so satisfying to have a setup you like to us. Framerate issues are a shame, but all the stages run smooth in second half at least.

No, you aren't the only one. I thought the relationship depicted was pretty good for what it was. Albeit it was far from perfect on a many different fronts. While what was communicated through Dion's and Terence's interactions were clear that they were lovers. I think there could've been more to flesh out their relationship. Especially for Terence, while he did serve a purpose in adopting the girl that saved Dion. I think he was somewhat underdeveloped as a character. This might be a minor nit pick, but I felt the sudden camera change to a wide shot once they kissed felt rather jarring. Sure they probably didn't want to waste time animating a kiss and fair enough. I just think they could've maintained the same close-up, like what was done for Clive and Jill as seen here.
It would've been more than enough for that scene, in my opinion.

One thing that’s funny to me is journos and doomposters only focus on Game of Thrones. When the second half of the game has insane JRPG anime crazy shit and Asura’s Wrath type of spectacles.
The main story progression is the same kind of pacing/tempo like an FF14 expansion. Where you’ll often have “world-building filler” moments that delay getting to the next objective just to call back to it later along the line. I’m mixed on it, because it makes the high moments way more memorable, but at the same time it’s like “cmon can we skip this lower quality scenes and get to the good stuff?”
Gameplay wise it’s just so satisfying to have a setup you like to us. Framerate issues are a shame, but all the stages run smooth in second half at least.
